    Nothing is more humbling than riding a horse. 😅 There are so many highs and lows in riding. Riding different horses, especially tricky horses, produces a well rounded rider. Every lesson isn’t going to be the best day, but as long as you ride safe and learn from every lesson, then something positive came from it. Jumping is not easy. There’s so much going on there that people don’t see.
    You have come so far since your first vlogs and as a fellow rider, I know how we can be our own worst critics. Even the best riders have the worst days. Keep your heart in it Clara, I know you’ll go so much further. ❤
    Also for what it’s worth, I saw a lot of good riding here too! Seeing distances is tough!

      Yes that’s so true! That’s why I’m very grateful that I get to ride so many different horses, they each teach me something different! Thank you so much! ❤️ seeing distances and canter leads are my worst enemy right now 😂 but I’ll get better !!

    Don’t worry Clara, we all have rides like this. One tip is that you tend to 2-point as your going over the poles, like you go into 2-point as your going over the poles so you want to make sure that your in 2-point the whole time.

    You did amazing!! My off days are sooo much worse!! Everyone has off days! Showing will get easier I promise! I promise you that everyone gets frustrated when riding! Off days are hard to deal with but as you ride more you will learn how to handle them better, they never go away but they become less frequent! I promise you are doing amazing!!! Don’t let anyone and I mean anyone talk you down about riding! Also don’t you dare say “I can’t do this” or “I’m not good enough” etc because then you will be lying to yourself! You definitely can do it and you are more than good enough you are excellent!! Your videos have helped me a ton while I’ve been off riding to heal! It’s been almost 2 months since my fall that cause me to stop riding, your videos were one of the only things that helped me feel like I was behind a pair of ears! Last week at my PT session I got the clear to ride again and I’m soo excited to get back in the saddle!! I still have work to do for my back/core but I can start riding!! Don't blame yourself for it all! You mentioned he'd been in lessons earlier that day, so he was also probably tired and a bit "over it". Horses get to a point where they won't help the rider and if you're not riding every little thing, they make it hard for you 😅. Super common school horse habit I'm sure youve noticed by now. Don't beat yourself up, from the footage it looked absolutely fine ❤!

    Less than perfect rides are part of the deal. Don't let anybody kid you, those are the rides that keep you coming back. I have noticed a couple of things, but I'm not sure how to say it without you thinking I'm criticizing. Not my intention at all. The camera angle is a little dizzying as far as telling his position. Or it's where you are looking, I'm not exactly sure. It would be nice to see one of your lessons from the ground. I do have a couple of questions, and a suggestion or two. Just know I'm not trying to step on anybody's toes here. I've noticed that his head is to the outside a good bit, or it could be where you're looking. The head goes to the outside, and it throws him off balance. He gets rougher and wants to drop out more often. Just the way I look at it, but if you take a straw and bend it, you notice where the contact points are. Three main ones. Inside leg, outside leg and outside rein. To move the whole thing, it takes inside leg and inside rein. Simply leg yielding. Always pushing, never pulling. When he cuts in on the corners, how far down the arena are you looking? You might be giving him permission to cut in without realizing it. He's taking more from your seat and legs than from the bit. If you're unclear about what you want, he'll make his best guess. Ride him into the corners, till you say turn. You look down the arena, your body turns that way. Seat and legs shift that little bit and he'll go that way. You say that you have trouble feeling his lead sometimes. Are you in two point then? He's reaching more with his lead leg. If you're sitting, your lead side hip will be forward, so it almost feels like you're moving diagonally in the saddle just that little bit. That also moves your inside leg a bit forward, so you feel it without trying to look. I've got a big mouth, I know. Long winded? Absolutely. Sometimes just hearing it a different way helps. That's all I'm trying to do. Till next time, enjoy the dance!

    • @RidewithClara
      @RidewithClara  3 месяца назад

      Yes you’re absolutely right ! He was looking alot to the outside in this lessons specifically and I was having a hard time getting that inside bend. Usually I find him easier to bend, maybe I was off or he was off or both of us! But we definitely struggled this lesson! Thanks so much for the tips! I never thought to try and feel the canter lead, my trainer says once we’re more advanced we’ll be able to feel it. Maybe I can try and feel it as well as look! Thanks again for the advice, I appreciate it 😇

    Omg- I was completely wrong! It is Filo!! Clara, don’t worry, everyone has their bad days, such as me, I was crying because there was so much noise in the sports hall today- a teacher literally had to come down and take me away. But seriously- you did really well! Filo is such a big boy but he is very cute! ❤
    I was riding the biggest horse at my barn and I think am riding him again in my next lesson and he is murder on my legs! He’s so darn lazy, Joey is definitely a very- stubborn horse. But to give him the benefit of the doubt he is a sweetheart. I’ll give Joey that much. I had an accident in June 2023 and it really affected my confidence… I went from jumping back down to just walking. But now I’m jumping 2’ I still get nervous though! But these videos are so helpful to calm me 💗 Good job again! Is summer solstice a show outside of your barn? Or is it similar to the fun spring show, where it’s just at your barn?

  • @arii-q3s
    @arii-q3s 2 месяца назад

    Hey!! I have a few tips. I’m not sure if you’d want them or not but I don’t think your trainer has mentioned these tricks before so I thought I’d mention in case you want to give it a try:) I don’t want to sound like a TikTok trainer or anything 😅 I just genuinely want to help, you’re such a good rider already.
    When you’re riding into your corners you often anti bend their nose out, which causes them to drift into the middle. That’s just because you use a lot of outside rein to turn them into the corners. which is fine and it gets the job done, but I think fixing that will really help you in the long run.
    It’s a pretty simple fix, all you have to do is kinda like a small leg yield, not as dramatic though. When you approach your corner use a lot of inside leg, open your outside rein like a door, and lift up your inside rein (just make sure you don’t cross your hand over the withers.) this will do a little mini leg yield and not only move them into the corners easier, but also bend them to the inside (which means if you are about to pick up canter you’re almost guaranteed to get the right lead.)
    Also, I do think a crop would help you a lot. I know you mentioned he was being lazy today, and that you don’t normally need to use one, but I still always prefer carrying a crop and just having to drop it later. It will make your ride easier considering you never really know the mood they’re in! (Plus it’ll save your legs from being as sore haha!)
    That’s all I have! I don’t want to sound rude or anything. you’re an amazing rider and these are just small simple changes you can make to help you have a better time! I think you ride filo beautifully. Hope this helps and I didn’t give any unwanted advice!! 😅
