Wings Resale Better Than Goodwill?! MAYBE! Thrift With Me!

- In today's episode I take you along with me as I check out a couple new-to-me thrift stores in the Chicago area. Going into this I did not know anything about either of these thrift stores, so you'll find out all about them as I go along in this video. What I'll tell you now is I was VERY pleasantly surprised...so much so that I think Wings Resale may now be better than Goodwill (time will tell...this was my first trip)! Especially for re-sellers due to it's selection of art, home goods, etc. and the prices were WAY better than Goodwill's in my area (my Goodwills JUST took away the 50% off color at the start of this year). Most importantly, Wings helps victims of domestic violence and that's a cause I'm always happy to help!
For those in the Chicago area, the location is outstanding because it's right next to THREE other different thrift stores as well (Lucille, Goodwill, Salvation Army) in Arlington Heights, so you can really make a sourcing or shopping trip out of it. Convenient for most suburb locations and not too far from Chicago proper! Bring snacks...I ran out of gas and couldn't hit all of them! However, Taco Maya in Prospect Heights (3 min the other way) was great as well, so keep that in your back pocket! ;)
I did not have much time in Lucille's Resale, which helps disadvantaged children get educations, but I found a hat for my son (giving Kevin vibes from Home Alone, which he LOVES)! Overall the pricing was much higher and did not leave any margin for re-selling; however, if you're looking for items for your home they did have nice stuff, including the cast iron fireplace I found for my mother-in-law for $150.00, which may sound a bit steep, but it is huge and was priced at $350.00, so I think it was a pretty good find!

Love Wings Resale! The Niles location on Golf Road is my favorite. BTW, the entire store is 50% off the last weekend of every month.

@ Not sure if you ever make it to Wisconsin but right over the border in Sturtevant (Racine) is a great Goodwill Bins - would make for a fun video!
Reuse the dish under the teapot as a soap dish or trinket holder. Blue and white is so popular.

I am in the Midwest....Chicago & will travel to the Wings Resale store soon. Given all the changes at Goodwill, I probably won't shop there anymore. Loved the video!💕
Hi Wilma! Thank you! It is worth a trip for certain! Don’t forget there’s a few other thrift stores within a few minutes of it if you make the trip (Lucille Resale, Salvation Army, Goodwill (I’ve not been to that one though))!
I just went to my local goodwill in southern Wisconsin yesterday - and they still had the 50% off tag sales. 😊

The tray that goes with the repaired teapot would be a very cute trinket dish without the teapot.

I just saw the USA map in a thrift store. I have my mom's Settlement cookbook from 1947.
There are such sweet cook books!
Gosh, if I had a nickel for every time I brought something home only to find damage I hadn't noticed before purchasing, I'd be rich! It's a good reminder for all of us resellers to triple check everything. Nice haul nonetheless!
Thank you! Yeah, totally did NOT see that, but it taught me a lesson because I went yesterday and found damage on almost everything I saw.
There are two more: schaumburg and glenview/niles...this one is down the street or so from a salvation army....if you stayed on Rand road and went further up, you would come across two more goodwills
not close by, but since rand road is right there...
So many packed in one spot…can’t believe I didn’t know about them, but happy to have found out!

I love Wings! You’re in my backyard! As previously mentioned Rand Rd has Salvation Army, Goodwill, Lucille’s , community threads , keep going for another Goodwill at Dundee and even further up in Lake Zurich on Rand another Goodwill.
My favorite of them all is Wings and they have good sales. The Lake Zurich Goodwill can also be good sometimes , but with no more 50% tags not too sure how it will do this year. Treasure Hunt up the Rd is not vintage it’s an Amazon bin type place but I’ve gotten great deals on household items and stuff for my dogs cheap- if you enjoy digging!!
