Sterling wainscott love your site classics HBO boxing programs in full thanks for all your hard work and time there's nothing like boxing from the 1970's, 1980"s & 1990s great job!!🥊🥊
These were the days. Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis, McCall, Mercer, Morrison, Ruddock, Foreman, Holmes, Moorer, Cooper, Bruno. All matches were exciting and a pleasure to watch.
Masterful tactics by Holyfield. He didn't brawl too much in this fight like he did in the 1st fight with Bowe. Here he used his skills and speed, boxed more, was elusive, patient and disturbed Bowes rhythm almost the hole fight, and when Bowe didn't know what to do Holyfield let his hands go. I had this fight 116-113 for Holyfield.
@Kyle Prather As Real Deal always said, it's all about making adjustments. After that 1st fight, he realized he couldn't come in at a tiny 208lbs. It worked vs. Foreman but he was able to dance circles around George in a way he couldn't with the younger and more athletic Bowe who had such a good inside game as well. And, he didn't let Bowe's low blows and dirty tactics allow him to stray from the game plan. IMO, a fully-focused prime Holyfield who sticks to the right gameplan is as dangerous and formidable a fighter as any whoever lived. We saw it in the Douglas fight, both Tyson fights, this fight, and a handful of others where he simply wouldn't be denied, mentally, emotionally, or physically.
I have a very similar scorecard! Only I had Bowe in round 7 for a final score of 115-113 Holyfield. 1, 2, 9, and 12 were clearly Bowe rounds 5, 6, 8, 10, 11 were clearly Holyfield rounds. 3 and 4 I saw Holyfield the superior boxer and that left only 7 for Bowe.
@@austinlittke5580 hey just say you disagree with how I scored the round. No need to be rude. Don’t act bold behind a phone screen, knowing if you talked to someone like that in person, you’d most likely be picking your teeth up off the ground you scrawny punk.
1:21:27 let's give Bowe a TON of credit for taking the high road here. A man seeing his pregnant wife in distress yet refusing to say it effected his focus or say it was an excuse. I'm not articulating it well but this was an extraordinarily classy gesture on Bowe's part.
Indeed. Bowe definitely was a crybaby. Every modern fighter could take a lesson. Now they all say, "I'm not gonna make excuses* then proceed to make 3 of them.
They always say Tyson's apex was the Spinks fight. And while nothing can be taken away from Mike, Spinks was a blown-up light heavyweight, terrified, and on a knee brace. Even if he wasn't, he was NEVER going to beat Tyson, he couldn't hurt him and his twig neck would never be able to stand up to that. Here, Holyfield is facing a giant champion, and his performance is just a thing of absolute beauty b/c he was bigger than his early HW days of 205-208lbs, but he could still dance all night long. IMO this version of Real Deal would've wiped out any version of Tyson in 10 rounds or less. Book it Dano.
Evander flipped the script on him in the 4th. Straight dogged him the entire round, kept firing viscous combos, even ignoring bell. Bowe had the momentum but Holyfield ripped it away from him. Superhuman effort by the real deal.
Bowe is stronger, taller and more aggressive but he seemed ill-prepared. However Evander was exceptionally determined and in high readiness both mentally & physically for the fight. His effort was a success. I guess this is one of the most exciting fights in boxing history
Holyfield legend and 4 time Champ, Bowe is a Champion also but he got lazy and was losing to Golota and really lost to him twice if not for the crazy low bows.
Holyfield won this fight. Much better fight plan. Out worked bowe... landed clearer shots. Bowe won the first 4 then Holy won like next 6, 7. Basically 6-5 Holyfield.
I always love how supremely confident Holyfield was (always) in this fight especially, and the 1st Tyson fight when he guaranteed victory. And when Jim Grey said, "That sounds like the most outrageous guarantee since Joe Namath" Holyfield, "Well, I did it in the Bowe 2 fight and I was victorious" Grey, "Little different situation tonight" Holy, "Well, the peoples are different, the situations are different...but God still the same. Yesterday and today, He still the same" LOL. Fucking awesome. And look at Holy's little dance and smug face during his ring introduction. Just classic!
I love that Foreman of all people criticizing Bowe on eating Pork Chops and Spare Ribs. What you been eating George? Cheeseburgers? Perhaps Bowe could have used George's grill back then.
@@bobber0623 that's a great point. He showed great stamina against Briggs and Saverese. But he looked gassed against Schultz. Leaned on him so much for support if Schultz had stepped back Foreman would've fell over
That end of the 4th round is reminiscent of the 6th round of Tyson-Holyfield I. Holy had played it relatively cautious, let the big guy spend himself a little, and then show the other man that he is the damn boss, coming forward and raining bombs like Hiroshima.
