Scpp2small I believe that’s exactly what happens- this killing game is all entirely faked, hence big busty AI Junko, they all leave the game alive except Chiaki because she was the reason they were the made into the Remnants of Despair in the first place, with her real execution in the DR Despair Arc anime.

They became one of the many people who mourned Junko's death and continued her handy work. Chiaki was the one who let hajime know that when they left, they could make their own future and not the ones that were put in front of them. Here is a summary of the game situation. The game IS faked. But the game type thingy that was made of hopes peak and that made the killing game was not part of the plan. The game was a restoration of hope thingy made by the future foundation, but big busty Junko (not the original), the sneakish person she is, she was either the virus that corrupted the game or made a virus that corrupted the game and made the killing game. It was also mentioned that when a person is dead (Like mahiru and peko) their real bodies were in a permanent comatose state in the real world that they wouldn't be able to wake up from. So I guess what I said before didn't really make sense if they are in a comatose sate. I guess i forgot that Mahiru and Hiyoko were real people too XD. so they would be in the comatose state too. But I don't think Chiaki was the one who made them the remnants of despair because the remnants of despair were a huge group of people (More than the main 16) who followed junko and some of them even took body parts from her. I actually found an article that says what they ll specifically did while being the remnants of despair: "Akane: Starved herself. Teruteru: Killed/Cooked his Mom and ate her. Sonia: Convinced her country to commit suicide. Fuyuhiko: Replaced his eye with Junko's. Komaeda: Replaced his left arm with Junko's. Mikan: Put Junko's womb inside her. Soda: Attached machine guns to cars and committed mass murder. Hiyoko and Ibuki: Concerts to fill people with despair. Mahiru: Took pictures of dead people/Despair enducing events. Nekomaru: Coached people until they died of exhaustion." Okay, I think this reply is getting too long. hopefully this helps a little understanding?
SPOILERS Before Mikan was put in the simulation, Junko took advantage of her state of mind and brainwashed her. And brainwashed Mikan falls in love with Junko, like it shows in despair arc. Then when she is put in the simulation she had her brain wiped of her high school memories, including her memories of Junko. In the simulation she makes friends with Ibuki and Mahiru ( later with hiyoko ) so in order to make her beloved ( Junko ) happy she kills one of her friends ibuki... and hiyoko just walked in on her. How did Mikan remember Junko? She got the despair disease, and that made her remember Junko, as she states in the trial "Mikan is later seen celebrating with Hiyoko, Mahiru, and Ibuki on the ship, indicating that she and Hiyoko have now become friends." Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure this is true
You are correct, but at first, i didn't understand the situation, cuz at the simulator, they were their past selfes so they shouldnt remember something didn't happen but mikan got brainwashed twice, so she remembered the first one
