    K6XS has been my primary carry for a year now. I use an Uncle Mike's size 4 pocket holster. It feels the best to me. I have other CCW semi's but nothing matches my confidence in the K6XS. I thought I was the only one left in the world using a revolver for EDC.

    I’ve got a 3 inch dasa and I carry it in the desantis holster. When tucked in the waist at the 3-3:30, with a belt the clip isn’t an issue. I’ve got the hogue grip, but I hate the half pinky portion. If kimber made the combat grip in rubber, it would be perfect. The wood is nice, it is just to smooth for good grip purchase. Love the k6s dasa 3”. The cylinder end shake is minimal and the cylinder gap is right up there with custom guns like a korth or spohr. Awesome revolver.

    • @davidw4151
      @davidw4151 7 дней назад +1

      @@DrTac I use 38. Special. Specifically hornaday critical defense 110 gr ftx. My concern with .357 mag is 2 fold. First off over penetration. I’m concerned with what may be behind potential bad guy and secondly hearing damage. We all know that a gun report is ridiculously loud but the 357 magnum is even louder. Typically we don’t walk around with ear protection, and in a defensive situation you won’t likely have time to put in hearing protection. Just my 2 cents. Stay safe.

    K6XS is a deep concealed carry piece for ankle, pocket, iwb, or shoulder holsters. Equivalent to the classic Colt Agents and Cobras discontinued in 1999 with the bolt on hammer shroud and the holy grail Magnum Carry. The K6S and K6 SADA are owb holster guns for concealment or open duty carry as counterparts to the classic Colt D frame Detective Special, Police Positive, and Diamondback. At 7:00 you described "countersunk chambers," a custom feature of old gold classic S&Ws like the Model 66 'no dash.' Similar to but less effective than chamfering. I pocket carry as you do using the K6XS, a 642 or 637 without the hillarylocks. Try out the K6S with the Hogue Bantum grip that came with the XS, it should enhance handling ergonomics and shooting with +P and .357 considerably.

    • @DrTac
      @DrTac  7 месяцев назад +2

      Interestingly, while the K6XS is almost a 1/2 pound lighter than the K6S, it is actually longer, taller, and wider than the K6S (with the 2" barrel, obviously)...in other words, the K6XS is actually larger than the K6S in every dimension, but it carries nicely because it's lighter.
      I will look into the Hogue Bantum grip, thank you for the recommendation.

    I have both of these pistols. Grips were my only concern and I solved by installing the Kimber Control Core grips on my K6s and installing the stock wood grips from the K6s on the K6xs. The Kimber Control Core grips provided me with more surface to grips, a better grip angle that increased my ability to shoot instinctively (like a 1911) and better recoil management when firing .357 loads. I had the stock wood grips from the K6s laser ingraved with a Celtic design to make it less slippery when drawing from my pocket holster. I carry the K6s 3" in an OWB pancake holster and it conceals very well.

      I think it all comes down to how important it is for you to have the option to shoot .357…which comes at the cost of a heavier and more expensive gun…interestingly, the 2” K6S is slightly smaller than the K6XS, but definitely heavier. I love my Kimber K6S Dasa 2 inch barrel. However, as pretty as the wood grips are I didn’t like it. It tended to be slick. Like on dry days my hands would be dry and less grippy. It made me think if I draw when it’s wet as well it could be a problem. I actually would notice on hot days when my hands got sweaty it became harder to hold. Especially with the magnum loads. I swapped them recently with the Hogue grips. They are a little bigger but grip is much better. I carry it in an urban carry “Lock Leather” holster. It’s been my favorite carry for now. I’m really wanting the K6XS now. lol.

    • @DrTac
      @DrTac  6 месяцев назад +5

      So, I have a experience with both and I would have to say that the King Cobra pales in comparison to the K6S, based on their primary purpose; to be the smallest 6 shot 357 for deep concealment/pocket carry. While both are undeniably great guns, the Kimber is considerably smaller and has a better trigger (I can say this because I have spent a lot of time shooting them side by side). As for fit, finish, and ergonomics...I'd give it to the kimber, but damn the Colt is beautiful. Hold them side-by-side and tell me I'm wrong😉. Thank you for your comment, I think you may have inspired me to do a Colt Vs Kimber Video!! ...that is once I fix the G-d Damned grip on my Kimber😎

    • @carlosmorris4510

      @@DrTac Hmmm... You may be right; I've never actually physically compared the two - hands-on. I only have a .38 Special Colt Cobra - so I can't speak specifically for the King Cobra. But the standard Cobra has a better grip for me; a larger sized grip that increases the trigger distance (reach) better than any of the other small framed revolvers out there on the market - which is better for my larger hands... The Kimbers have a much smaller grip (at least stock) - and I've heard that they don't have many aftermarket options. I've never really liked their blocky looks either - but that's just aesthetics. Is the trigger on the Kimbers realistically better?... I'm unsure - but the Cobra has a very short pull and flat-faced trigger, which makes it very accurate. It's sight picture - with it's red fiber optic front sight - also aides in it's accuracy... In fact, it's most likely the most accurate 2" barrel revolver I own. The only downside to it's trigger is it's weaker reset (unlike with a S&W, for example) - but this is something that can be mitigated through practice. The fit and finish IS better with the Kimbers though; I'll admit that... Their build quality is probably the best on the market. And some people don't really like the unusual bead-blasted finish of the Cobra (unlike with the King Cobra), but I don't mind it; I think it's designed for carry and to cut down on glare. I personally don't view the Cobras as pocket carries though; I think they're more designed for IWB carry - as they're a little larger and heavier.
      Yeah, so they both have their upsides and downsides, in my view... And yes, an in-depth comparison would probably be a good idea. 😏 Have a good day then.
