The action was awesome! But that ending....... do you want John Wick 5? It looks like the studio is trying to make it happen. What was your reaction? Where does this Wick film rank out of the 4 films?

I think if they do the 5th (and I mean once Reeves and Stahelski confirm a story), it is a golden opportunity to bring it back down to the smaller scale of the 1st movie. Be a great way to round out the series. But if it ended here, great swan song.

33:02 it's what they both represent that matters. Taking the finger and ring means John will live but at the cost of never having a normal life again. Caine giving his eyes means he'll retire but at the cost of never seeing his daughter grow. They both get what they want, but are not able to fully enjoy it.

John dying at the time he did was his perfect ending. He never could have gone back to a normal life without his wife, but wanted to die a man who loved and was loved, and not as Baba Yaga. He did the impossible, he got out again, and he had nothing left to fight for. Everyone kept asking where does it end, and that was where it ended, with him finally out from under The Table.

John Wick 4 was a beautiful crafted piece of art. Set pieces and visuals were stunning, stunts and fight choreography were innovative and jaw dropping, amazing cast where everyone gets a chance to shine. My favourites were Scott Adkins(Killa Harkan), Donnie Yen (Caine), Rina Sawayama (Akira).

What an intro!!! Cinematography & Choreography was on point with the Osaka & Paris house sequences (with the overhead shots) the highlights for me in a long movie that needed a little trimming down along with slightly better line readings from Keanu :) Why does the amazing Hiroyuki Sanada die in almost every Hollywood project he gets cast in?! Rina Sawayama who played his daughter and of course Donnie Yen were also fantastic! Should leave on a high at 4 movies with Stahelski & Keanu moving on to new projects as Len Wiseman shoots the Ana De Armas 'The Ballerina' spin-off & the 3-part 'The Continental' TV Show comes out later this year. RIP Lance Reddick!

@@bingsterc7621I wouldn't say it's "SO OBVIOUS." Why would they frame the ending like that to give him a dramatic, peaceful death, if it was fake? Why would the Bowery King keep his dog if John survived?
It's certainly possible but it's not at all obvious, as in my opinion it makes more sense that he's dead. Give him some actual rest finally. We all know that if he actually survived, someone will still be coming after him eventually for whatever reason.
And most importantly, for those that want John Wick 5, why would we WANT him to come back again? After a finale like this, how do you just bring him back to life revealing his death was fake, just for more action? How do you top Chapter 4, it would only sour this ending. Let characters stay dead, please.

Man I really wish more people recognized Scott Adkins, from the trailer I recognized him through the prosthetics. I love him as Yuri Boyka, the most complete fighter in the world. Him and Donny Yen were my hype reasons for seeing this
And that overhead shotgun scene was straight out of videogames, the birds eye third person/top down view. It's such a distinctly recognizable view in certain games since the 80s

I'm so glad that shotgun scene was not shown in the trailers. Just one shot with the gun before the camera went up, but that's it. According to the movie's writer, Akira actually managed to kill Caine in their confrontation, but they chose to leave it out of the film both for running time and added suspense. The fact that they're working on a spin-off AND are apparently working on John Wick 5 suggests we'll eventually learn whether or not that's canonical or not.

    • @billbill6094
      @billbill6094 Год назад +6

It probably won't be canon anymore, kind of like John Wick's origin in the spin off comic was invalid when Chapter 3 came out

  • @nikolaiquack8548

I massively disagree with you guys. I want this to be the last John Wick movie and thought it was a perfect ending. Just because you've gotten so suspicious of characters not actually dying in movies, does not mean that the film left it "open for interpretation". What would John even do with his life after that duel? Everything he's ever loved is gone. Him dying was the only sensible way to end this series. And I'd be slightly disappointed, if they chose to go on with a fifth installment. After all: Rules, consequences.

Wick's poker hand was the Ace of Clubs and Spades, with the 8s of Clubs and Spades. This hand in poker is also known as "The Dead Man's hand." It is rumored to be the hand of poker that Wild Bill Hickock had when he was shot and killed. Some who believe in this "curse" will even fold the hand rather than play it.

The thing is, though, this franchise as a whole, delivers the perfect Hollywood stories ever. The stakes are higher, and it’s not one hundred percent about this repetitive, non-stop killing spree of violence. No. It solely focuses on how these three assassins, under the High Table, trying to get out of this mess they’re in. But here’s when this quote comes in, “Those who cling to life, die. But those who cling to death, live.” It’s very poetic and symbolizes Shimaze, Caine, and John’s destiny. It even comes full circle by the end.

What's really cool is the John Wick franchise will hopefully result in recognition by the Academy Awards of stunt work and win an Oscar. Keanu Reeves has made an emphatic distinction in interviews between what he does, performs--safe action, and what the professional stunt workers--do-dangerous skills. Not that I've seen many other movies, but John Wick 4 should win an Oscar for cinematography.
John Wick 4 has a world-wide box office of over $430 million as of today at the box office; waiting to see how high sales takes it.

Everything with Mr. Nobody and Caine were my favorite moments besides John Wick himself of course. My all time favorite scene of the entire movie was the 1 shot with the dragon's breath. My jaw was literally on the floor for that sequence and then of course the Mr. Nody scene to follow it. He was my favorite on top of Caine and John Wick's relationship. I want a Mr. Nobody, Caine, John Wick, and Akira film so darn badly!
The only gripe I had about the film was the sequence when Winston was walking with the giant paintings behind him. It just felt longer than it needed to be to get the point across that it was trying to make. It took me out of the film because I was just like dang he's still walking. And the falling out the window as you mentioned for the same reasoning you all stated.
Also, very random and I don't know if you all would even do it as a reaction, I'm not even sure if it has any reactions on RUclips at all. But I would love if you all could check out the film Super Dark Times and at least let me know what you all thought of it

29:31 AA88 (kicker unknown but Queen is the most speculated on ) is actually known as the Dead Man`s hand ( Wild Bill Hickok was shot while playing poker and later they saw he had this hand ) it is a very well hidden hint for the ending.

I always thought that John Wick was a ‘low magic’ setting. As in, John literally can not get injured, unless it’s for an ‘important’ reason. That the Table’s thing with ‘deals’ is that they’re magically enforced. It’s what would happen to a modernized magical setting, with hardly any magic in it.
It’s a masquerade, and nobody ‘calls it magic’, but once you start looking, it’s all over the place.

Fun fact: The guy who plays "Killa" is martial artist Scott Adkins in a fat suit. He's said that most of his fight with Keanu was barely rehearsed at all. Reeves, at that point was so proficient in the ways of various martial art's that the two of them were just able to go at each other freely.

    Something I noticed about the series is that each film represents one of the Five Stages of Grief;
Ch. 1 is Denial; John tries to go back to how things were when he adopted the dog.
Ch. 2 is Anger; Admittedly, this one fits best because it is the next in the sequence, but John's anger towards Santino is a driving force
Ch. 3 is Bargaining; The entire film, John is making, or trying to, deal with people (Earnst, Doc, Sofia, Berrada, The Elder, and Winston), and even Winston makes a deal with the Adjudicator to keep his position.
Ch. 4 is Depression and Acceptance; The entire film is about John and his friends being hurt or killed until the end, where John accepts death.
Something else I noticed: The card game symbolizes every character's fate in the film.
John gets the "Deadman's Hand" and is the second to die of the four players.
Caine gets a good hand with 4 Nines and 1 Four, but Four is associated with death in Japanese culture. The final credit scene shows his fate is uncertain.
Tracker gets a Royal Flush, and he and his dog survive the film's events.
Killa gets the best hand, "5 of a Kind," but he cheats; and has the weakest form of that hand; 5 Twos. He dies first because he broke the rules of his own game.

Fun fact: one of those takes he accidentally pulled Scott’s lip. Since it hurt him really bad the second day, he pulled back his upper lip, exposing his teeth just like you see in this clip so Keanu won’t pull his lip again.
The Director called Scott back to see the monitors and Scott believed that Chad was going to tell him off but instead, he said to do it again😂😂😂

That was a very good point, that some of the hijinx in the later John Wick movies is just as unrealistic as anything in the Fast & Furious movies. However, I'd disagree that you don't go into a John Wick movie wanting it to be realistic, since the big reason the first JW movie was so successful was how grounded it was.

You're all sharp dressed men looking very nice in your suits (Quinn looking especially dashing!😍) action & storyline still top notch & was cool to see Clancy Brown guest appear! & it's a euphoric feeling getting lost into a fantasy world & storyline, so I completely agree with Quinn about watching them. Excellent content guys! 😎

Did anyone catch that Winston said "Goodbye my son". In the Trailers they used Terry Jacks song Seasons in the Sun, which has the line, Goodbye Papa it's hard to die.Winston was the substitute Father to John. Currently Keanu is filming Constantine 2 and he finished a spin-off Wick movie called Ballerina, which connects to the Ballerina of JW2 of the Romani Ruska.

Who else was waiting for the dragon breath fight whenever they kept bringing up video games? The director said he played a lot of Hotline Miami in between making the movies, and that scene was partially designed by a game designer. If anyone remembers John Wick Hex that came out after Chapter 2, some of the moves were even inspired by that game.

The way they've weaved Greek myths into the John Wick universe elevates what would usually be "just an action movie" into Art with a capital A. Amazing story-telling with beautiful cinematography and choreography. *Mwah* 🤌🏻
