A scotch egg with soft boiled egg is incredible. The textures from the crisp coating, the seasoning sausage meat and the running yoke are what dreams are made of.
Softer eggs does not make a Scotch egg bad.

@@yosoyconsuela They are *traditionally* cooked all the way through. However, modern tastes prefer a jammy, possibly runny, yolk. For example, Fortnum and Mason in London cook theirs with a runny yolk, and that's honestly how I prefer them. I guess the judges needed an agreed upon rubric and decided to go with traditional?

Why do the chefs want the eggs to be bone dry? I don't know anything about Scotch Eggs, but I feel like they would probably taste a lot better if the yolk was runny or at least creamy
It's the way the dish is. But if the yolk is a very bright yellow, almost starting to whiten, it will be pasty and nice. If you cook too long, it will be a darker yellow and it will be dry and crumbly.
It’s because these “chefs” have no idea how a proper scotch egg should be made. Hard boiled centre is fine for Tesco’s and Sainsbury’s but a cookery show should never ask for that.

I agree Thea did cry her way to the finale but people tend to underestimate how amazing these chefs are. I tried the 90 minute eclair pressure test they did and it took me S I X hours to finish and they did it in 90 minutes. They are amazing and these pressure test aren’t as easy as they look. Yes Thea did cry a lot but she accomplished quit a bit.
