- / synth4ever - Roland V-Synth synthesizer demo of presets, sounds and patches. This synth demo and sonic exploration of the V-Synth by Roland features pads, beats, ambient soundscapes and sampled sounds.
The Roland V-Synth is an incredible digital / virtual analog modeling synth & sampler from the early 2000s that allows musicians to create, sample, mangle and play with sound in new and innovative ways.
The Roland V-Synth features numerous real-time controls, including control over a waveform's pitch, time and formant characteristics. It also features an arpeggiator, dual COSM effects, and the revolutionary TimeTrip pad & D-Beam for live interaction with sounds.
The V-Synth by Roland is available in various models including the Roland V-Synth (v2 / version 2 / 2.0), Roland V-Synth XT, and Roland V-Synth GT.
This is part 2 of my Roland V Synth demo and sonic exploration -- be sure to also watch Part 1 here:

Fantastic demo of the Roland V-Synth!!
Thanks my friend!
Loving the heavenly pads on this. What a weird and versatile synth
Thanks... there is so much the V-Synth can do, it is great for sound design.
@@synth4ever Alien. Seriously.
Great demo of what is probably my favorite Roland synth among the JD-800, Happy new year to you synth4ever.
Thank you and happy new year to you as well! Glad you enjoyed the demo.
Thanks for this video of the V-Synth! It is a fantastic synth.
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
I love that synth. Got one for 600€ and it's worth every cent. Sadly Roland doesn't build anymore Synth that are built like this. All manufacturers only build toys these days.
Glad you were able to get your hands on one... I agree, it is a very unique synthesizer.
The Jd-Xa is a great sounding instrument.
I had a Jdxa it was alright but if you look at the pros and cons Jdxa not all that good missing alot
I'm looking forward to the Jupiter X. :) But, until then I just ordered the V-Synth GT. :)
Definitely the best V-Synth demo I‘ve heard. Haven’t watched part 1 yet.
Thanks a lot. Part 1 has a lot of great patches too. :)
synth4ever Confirmed :)
The pad at around 6:00 is beautiful! Like divine trumpets, distant.
Yes, I really enjoy that trumpet sound... so distant and foreboding! :)
This is a great synth. I had no idea until I started reading the comment sections about this synth I'd love to get my hands on one.
It is very versatile. The original V-Synth (not GT version) can be found for great prices 2nd hand and many actually prefer it due to the interface (more direct knobs).
Great demo definite the best I ever seen you got sold on one can't wait to get one thank you
Thank you. They are fantastic synths!
Beautiful at 25:00 in. A dream synth.
Yea, I love that pad sound... so deep and foreboding, very dark and nostalgic.
immense
Beastly
Yes, V-Synth is very powerful. :)
nice!!
:)
Are some of these custom patches or possibly from the V-Synth 1.0? There are a few patches I'm not recognizing from my V-Synth 2.0.
Hmmm not sure, when I got it 2nd hand it's what was loaded. Pretty sure most of them are V2.0.
How do i set my Vsynth up to Logic? What cables do i need and what sections from the synth do i plug into to put into intterface?
I don't use Logic, but if you are plugging into an audio interface you'd probablly want to connect MIDI IN/OUT and audio out L/R from synth into your audio interface.
Seriously???
Was there ever a good d-beam alternative for controlling the XT?
I think this one was getting rid of a chicken vindaloo from around 26:50 XD
I have AirFX, it doesn't have the ability to send MIDI to the V-Synth engine - it's purely an in-line effect.. so presumably the same situation with Air Synth/X25. I think on the XT the touch screen has a scratch pad mode you can switch it into, so that's not really missing..
It could well be that using something else with a d-beam (although I think V-Synth has dual d-beam) and then assigning the MIDI it spits out may be the best way.. a bit clunky, though. I guess a couple of faders/pedals you could get MIDI from would work too, although less fun.
LOL @ the chicken vindaloo comment... very appropriate :)
Wagoo while this is an old comment, it’s worth noting that the Alesis Photon X25 would actually work, at least on paper. The dome on the X25 sends midi CCs using the same XYZ parameters as the Air Synth/FX. Mind you, I’ve never owned an X25 to test this myself, but they’re always super cheap when they pop up used. If you get one, please be sure to post a pic on Gearslutz with it with your doggo, because those pics of yours always make me happy.
Can someone explain why Roland stops manufacturing its best synths? Is it because there is more techno and EDM now, and they figure the market is smaller for a synth that produces great, usable sounds that are meant to be played?
Is it possible with the v-synth to take a sampled sound and give it vocal qualities, kind of like a formant filter?
I'm not sure as I haven't done that myself, but there are formant controls on the front panel... I would think it should be possible on some level. Then again, it may depend on the sampled source sound itself (ie is it a human voice or something else?)... not entirely sure.
If you listen from 18:00 - 18:38, the sound takes on some formant qualities as I tweak it. So I would say this is certainly possible if that is anything to judge by.
Have you ever played the V-Synth GT?
No, not yet.
Nice Demo Dude, how about piano and other Bank sound quality
All banks have same sound quality. There are some piano samples in there too, but check Roland's V-Synth manual for complete patch list.
@@synth4ever "All banks have same sound quality " in compare with ? i'm worry if this keyboard just only synth pad sound, not liked juno D/G series
@@johndarto7431 In comparison with each other. You asked about "other bank sound quality" -- all banks go through the same digital engine in the V-Synth, so there is no difference in sound quality from one bank to the other -- they are all 44.1Khz internal sampling frequency.
It is not just synth pad sound, I have done multiple demos with it, check my channel for more videos on V-Synth. There is a lot it can do, you can also import piano sample sounds if you want.
Goodbye Milky Way!
Does it have piano sounds?
Search for piano in the preset patch list -- there's a few listed: static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/V-SYNTH_V2_PA.pdf
Why would u expect that from a synth??
@@SPAZZOID100 Because the V-Synth is a sampler and you can load piano sounds into it. I have loaded a few grand piano sounds into my v-synth, it sound amazingly good.
