I don't know how it is that Disney hasn't just opened an animatronic museum instead of abandoning them to rot. I'm sure it would be popular, animatronics are technological marvels and they were all beloved characters at some point, so they have a lot of history. Seems like such a waste of potential.

I imagine since he was no longer in use, they may have needed some of his components to repair a Haunted Mansion animatronic. After the repair, they probably just left the head (in case other parts were needed?).

The Max, Buff and Melvin aren't actually those animatronic. They're set figures from previous models. They would be too heavy to be kept on that wall in the winnie the pooh ride and u can tell they aren't the same as the same are solidly set open.

Well, "enjoyed" probably isn't the right word...I'm kind of incensed that these expensive marvels of design and engineering were treated like garbage, instead of being taken care of and either warehoused or (better yet) put on display somewhere. But it was definitely educational!

If you want to see someone who cares about the animatronics they created, Aaron Fechter, inventor of Whack-A-Mole and creator of The Rock Afire Explosion still has a working show that he still occasionally writes and programs new songs and shows for. His official youtube channel is called Therockafire, and it's full of cool videos, but I personally would recommend starting with the video tours, because he goes into some of the history of each of his creations.
Unfortunately, he does lack the budget to keep all of his shows well maintained, and one could argue that keeping his creations stored in the same building that he stores his experimental Hydrilium fuel is a bit risky considering how much damage one canister of it exploding did some years back, but he's kind of an eccentric man to say the least.
I'm sure I wouldn't be playing with a full deck either if I spent years of my life surrounded by inventions that for one reason or another, mostly failed to get very far off the ground. (For example, he invented what is essentially an email machine, only for the home computer to be released, making his invention pointless.)

I'm sorry but I'm very happy that the sea serpent is destroyed. It creeped me out too much.

Its heartbreaking what happened to 2k Leagues, and a crime to have let it rot for so long. If they had been removed upon closure, they could've been salvaged. :(
The good news about the Max head and the Horizons bots is that they're used for parts, so at the very least, they're helping other characters live on. Its like being a robot organ donor! (Still stinks that Horizons closed, though.)
rottendollface 20k is such a sad story. They purposely sabotage the submarine that Michael Eisner was on so that he would close the ride. Then it was left it to rot. It was one of WDW’s best rides. Shame it’s gone 😞
@@BenLaurence At least the serpents in Disneyland's Submarine Voyage both have safe homes now. I wish the same could be said for WDW's serpents and squids. :(

Ok, i have an idea that you might like: Top 10 most underrated animatronics. Because I've noticed that there's a few animatronics you've never talked about. But aside from that, this is best channel I've been subbed to.(Btw, the only animatronic that creeped me out the most is the max animatronic under the doom buggy track. It's just been laying there, collecting dust, being neglected, and being forgotten To me, the thought of that sounds like the most painful thing to go through.)

Sea serpent may be scary for everyone that has submechanophobia (I also do) but I saw so many images of him that I started not fearing him and started getting sad because he looks so lonely.

When I visited Disney World in 1993, I went on the "20,000 Leagues under the Sea" ride as well as "Horizons". Loved them both, but not surprised that they've been replaced.
And judging by the comments, I'm apparently far from the only person to find these abandoned animatronic characters both cool and creepy at the same time--especially the ones left underwater from the old submarine ride.

Well technically the animals from Minetrain through Nature's Wonderland aren't Animatronics. Those weren't created until 1963/64. They're some kind of simplistic hydraulic figures(I've heard a Cast Member mention the name, but can't remember), just like the ones in Jungle Cruise.

I find it disappointing yet absolutely disturbing that Horizons was treated that way. Imagine accidentally stumbling into that dark building and you disassembled bodies of animatronics and rooms that used to be filled with life but are now just in a stalemate with what animatronics stay there including those giant mining machines with the claws from the underwater portion, now that’s scary.
The fact that submechanophobia videos on Tik Tok has the sea serpent from 20, 000 Leagues is sad. May he rest in peace. 💚

On the topic of nature's wonderland: those jumping fish were abandoned in the lake, untouched to this day. They still work too, by some miracle. Cast members turn them on once in a blue moon for fun, and can be seen from big thunder.

About a year or 2 ago one of the sea serpents was auctioned off at a Disney themed event so someone collected it and held on to it for near a decade.
Legitimate question! What happened to all the fish in the Sea Voyage attraction? Like how do Disney employees take them out if necessary to build a new attraction?
