I like how careful you are with things. Means you care not to destroy it. Clean truck too

I appreciate it. Gotta take care of the older trucks because sometimes the parts you accidentally break, the replacement isn't as good as the original.

You don’t need to remove the black part and deal with all the window stuff , on the black panel there is an access hole and you just put a socket and extension and unscrew the bolt

Was wondering if the window was going to work. Don't remember seeing you putting it back on track.

It will. I did at 17:20. It's not a direct overview but that's where I began sliding it back on the track.

How long was the 2x4 that you used and how long did the whole installation take? I have to replace the outside and inside handles.

The board was 24" long. If I didn't have to video, I probably could have had the job completed in 30 mins to an hour. The real difficult thing about the job is not busting the white clips on the door pannel. But if you already have some spares ready to go, even that part becomes super quick.

HA you're replacing plastic with plastic. at least i'll be replacing my 98 plastic door handles with all metal ones. And that window is EXACTLY why i'll just be peeling the plastic dust cover back instead.

Wind down the window when taking the door panel off. Comes out very easily that way.

he skipped dealing with the SECOND rod. I spent all day today working on mine. Exact same truck. To remove the handle, remove the three screws that hold the locking mechanism to the door jam. Then you can slide the locking mechanism UP, which will help you slide the hand OUT of the hole. It's still going to be horrible. The top of the handle doesn't clear the opening. Poor design my Chevy if you ask me. But you have to get the handle out. It's much easier to disconnect the two rods is the locking mechanism if the lock can move up and down. I took the fan vent off the jamp (it's below the lock), and that allowed me to remove the entire lock and the two long rods. Then I cleaned the thirty years of junk off the lock. The only thing I learned from this video is how you install the second rod on the top arm of the hand. My handle isn't working right now because the rod's on the outside instead of FORWARDS, on the inside / on the right looking at the back of the handle. This is the key because all the metal rods that are bent this way and that, they provide the critical alignment that makes the whole assembly work. Or, you could get all new electronic locks, and ditch all this old mechanical b.s.
