As I lay dying laid the foundation for metalcore. You're not gonna find a band that does it quite like they do. Recommend: Nothing Left, Sound of Truth, Parallels, the Darkest nights
You would love to hear Tim's side project Austrian Death Machine its an Arnold Schwarzenegger tribute band with hits like "its not a tumor" "who is your daddy and what does he do" "get to the chopper" Also love the content keep it up And my favorite AILD songs is through struggle probably a very well known song
AILD has been a staple band for me since I heard 94 hours premier in headbangers ball. I support the band, despite Tim's past, and encourage looking past the headline when judging him (or anyone). Anything from the album frail words collapse, or shadows are security would be great, condemned is one of my all time favorites, as is the darkest night. If you enjoy metalcore, you honestly can't go wrong with 95% of their discography
Jordan Mancino is an absolute beast live. One of my favorite drummers. Saw them in 09 and still in my top 3 favorite shows. Definitely do blinded or redefined.
Jesus, I was listening to AILD in my car to and from work this week, and I just got the tingling right now to look up some reaction videos to them. Reactions are always so fun. Just happened to run into this one... And I had a blast reacting to your reaction. Good job, dude.
I love this band.. Forever, elegy and the sound of truth is some of my favourite song.. And you should do react some of Rotting Chirst song too.. Another amazing band.. I already recommend too you.. Dont blame me if you late discover this band later on😁😁
i can imagine AILD is awesome for a new listener, i hear them since 2002 and this "complex sound" gets predictable over time: They are good, maybe to perfect in using the "metalcore formula" ^^
You should consider a deep dive into the metalcore scene of the time. Lots of super talented bands from that time period. AILD and KSE kinda led it, but look into Shadows Fall, God Forbid, Unearth, and It Dies Today. Some top tier metalcore was happening during this era.
Here's another band that's very similar in a lot of ways. Bleed From Within. They are phenomenal and their sense of groove is H E A V Y. But they're just as complex and dynamic as AILD in a lot of ways. I recommend "The End of All We Know" as the first song to check out.
You sir, are in for a trip if you want to hear a few of their older songs like The sound of truth, Through struggle or The darkest night. All their songs are great but these are a good starting point
Mike Hippa has recently left the band so check out Mire, Mike Hippas new band and Born Thru Fire, Tim’s new project. Both projects are 100% complex. Also check out Convictions.
If you haven't heard of them check out the band Emmure And my absolute favorite The Black Dahlia Murder you'll love to know they released a D&D campaign with they're most recent album
Dude I remember the 1st time I discovered AILD and was blown away too. What in-ears are you using out of curiosity? They look like the Shure SE series? (I looove my SE315's! ) Always enjoy your vids bud! Hope you had a great New Year, and cant wait to see what 2022 brings.
YOU GOTTA REACT TO THE BAND War Of Ages , song Collapse Also REACT to the band For Today song Crown Of Thorns !!!! Please REACT!!!! These bands are similar to As I Lay Dying
I’m sure you’ve read by now that the singer has a past that alot of people don’t agree with so they get a lot of hate these days. Should check out his side project with the song bone by bone
I'm blow away. I dislike screamer vocals (Edit for clarity - I don't like screaming lyrics I can't understand) so I started biased against this band, but I love this band already from just this one song. I've heard the band name before, like I've heard Gojira and Meshuggah names before, but now I need to LISTEN to them more!!!
@@OldSkuleNerd No No issues with the singer, just the singing style (screaming lyrics I can't understand). I personally like cleaner singers where they enunciate and I can understand all their lyrics without trying or googling them. Great example Sabaton, super clear lyrics!
bro IF U LIKED AS I LAY DYING SO MUCH .... YOU MUST MUDST MUST HEAR FIRST BLOOD THE ALBUM IS A STORY BEGIN TO END ID START WHEREVER PICK A song but the album is 'SILENCE IS BETRAYAL' EAGER TO SEE HOW U LIKE THEM :)
I will take the blame for not recommending them. And I won't recommend their ex singer's new band either. You are on your own in finding them. The new singer makes these guys sound a HELL OF A LOT BETTER.
Alot of people won't recommend them because Tim lambesis(lead voalist) is an overall terrible person he puts on a facade seeking forgiveness. Just Google him and you'll understand. I love the music they have put out since early 2000s. I follow all of the musicians pretty closely. Jordan(drummer) I call him the lorax. Their side project from a few years ago wovenwar is excellent as well.
Another excellent review of a pretty good band (sans the front man's issues). However, I must take umbrage at your ZZ Top joke simply because Frank *is* the joke. The whole reason that Billy and Dusty have beards is because Frank's last name is.... BEARD. So all 3 have BEARDS. That was the joke the guys came up with early on in the band (I think even before they got their record deal).
Older (2003-2010) AILD is better than newer imo. Id say this is easily their best "newer" song. Second being Shaped by Fire. The rest just kinda just get repetitive rinse and repeat AILD. Also no one requested AILD because they're a given in metalcore / progressive metalcore and have been for a long time.
So they used to be a Christian band then Tim, their lead singer went to prison for trying to hire and undercover coo to kill his wife… now the band is back together and I don’t think they’re a Christian band anymore lol
I don't understand how some people can not be a fan of this type of music. These guys are amazing.
Jordan is a monster of a drummer. He’s definitely one of my top 5 ever.
As I lay dying laid the foundation for metalcore. You're not gonna find a band that does it quite like they do. Recommend: Nothing Left, Sound of Truth, Parallels, the Darkest nights
welcome to san diego
we birthed metalcore and grindcore
Wrong. Converge. They were just the first to stick with a lot of people.
@@RelentlessOhiox who?
@@Meracog a band.
They've started on 1998 and their 2007 song Nothing Left is nominated in Grammy's.
He said it sounds like Gojira. Lol. No disrespect to Gojira but they are influenced by As I lay dying. Not the other way around.
If you liked that, you should definitely check out "Blinded" by them. Absolute belter.
"Confined" is an older track, but it's fantastic
That is my favorite song by as I lay dying! Absolutely love it!
The musicians in this band are amazing
Every album this band put out is 🔥 they also changed my life. Been following since early 2000s

Yes AILD was a great band but they did not lay the foundation for metalcore. Obviously that would be Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan, etc.
Calling Jordan a Geezer is pretty funny though fr

React Aetherian - The Rain
Tim has quite the checkered past, but I still love this song
I haven't dived into your channel yet, but I hope to God you react to Wage War - The River.
Orrr you should be listening to frail words collapse and shadows are security before diving into random as I laying dying projects
Definitely a fan of both gojira and as I lay dying
If you like as I lay dying. Check out demon hunter. Very heavy yet melodic band similar to them. The song my destiny is a good start.

Very gojira he says. No. Gojira sounds like as I lay dying sometimes.

Not my kind of music, but great reaction.

Unfortunately the lead guitarist responsible for all the great riffs over the years left the band..
Actually Phil and Josh write most of the songs. Nick mostly wrote the solos.
