As I Lay Dying Reactions: ruclips.net/p/PLiT72mImvysMxG1zBmjM9jwLm2gOo3mSM
As I lay dying was probably the biggest pioneers in the Metalcore Genre, I love them and this is their best album IMO
I love them too, definitely my favourite band, I can’t say it’s my favourite Album though, it’s Very Solid, might be Second for me
An Ocean Between Us will always be Number 1 for me.
FWC and SAS was them finding their Sound, AOBU was where they perfected it. TPR was definitely better than Decas and Awakened, I felt those albums.. I dunno, but yeh, this is definitely a Huge Return to form for AILD. The track Redefined was like the perfect ODE to AILD of Past. The chorus is Very AOBU.
There’s also a 30 Second shoutout to Austrian Death Machine in Gatekeeper Starting at 2:08 :)
You can clearly tell that’s Austrian Death Machine Riffage, the whole style for that 30 seconds turns into a more thrash metal sound, it’s beautiful lol
@@Ober1kenobi damn you're right that is a great album.
I think this Album hits me a bit more cause it's about leaving your old self behind, learning from your mistakes and striving to create a new an better you without denial of who you were.
Album came out right at a time in my life where I was going through that and it really helped me get through it I think.
Yea and to your points I think that is another reason I dug this album cause it almost felt like a "Best of" Album but with fresh content. It's classic AILD but evolved.
Truth. You hear it being tried now by others because they've perfected "the" metalcore sound.
They are not even close to be the Metalcore pioneers. Overcast, All Out War, Zao, Converge.. all those bands came before them
cailon earl agreed!
As I Lay Dying pioneered the metalcore sound. Every band you've heard that you think sounds similar to them is because they did it first. lol Awesome video man
Yeah I'd put As I Lay Dying, earlier All That Remains and Killswitch Engage and to a lesser extent Haste the Day as ones who pioneered the genre.
@@Meracog august burns red?
It's funny you said sounds like August Burns Red, these guys are one of the founding bands of metalcore. So many bands like August Burns Red drew inspiration from them
MY THOUGHTS TOO. Instantly! But yeah in a way they started like a couple years before ABR and started similar. Soo different now but both among the top!
As I Lay Dying and Killswitch Engage are the gods of metal core hands down.
@@thebk247 you need to include trivium but I cant really hear any metalcore in trivium.
I feel like understanding the story around this song will help to understand the chorus better.
94 hours, confined, and darkest nights are great by as I lay dying
Josh's voice (bassist) is the metalcore standard for cleans. He has a great tone.
As I Lay Dying is more straight up metalcore where August Burns Red is like metalcore+
AKA progressive metalcore
Justin G I would agree however I do think Josh has very unique vocals, he has a raspiness to his voice which you don’t really hear a lot in these bands plus his range is incredible, a lot of clean singers strain way to much when they hit higher notes but his sounds so natural 🙌🏼
Josh has gotten way better over the years
Josh sounds like shit live btw
AILD is basically the reason me and some friends started a band in the mid 2000s. Owe some of my greatest memories to that. This comeback album was fucking incredible.
August Burns Red got some of their inspiration from AILD. AILD are the kings of metalcore. React to Nothing Left. Then a follow up reaction of The Sound of Truth. They are some of their older songs and, in my opinion, some if their best work. The videos go together and are amazing!
Killswitch engage are the kings
They're Epic!
I saw them in December. It was my first show. What an Amazing night.
Check out their song Blinded
Not sure if you know of their story of the past number of years, but if not you should check it out. Really interesting and crazy stuff. This song is their first back from all that and about it.
The singer Tim Lambesis went to jail because he tried to hire a hitman to kill his ex wife. That's what this song is about trying to take responsibility for his actions.
@@manuelluispereira1139 that's what I said
Great band.... best album for me is Shadows are Security, followed closely by An Ocean Between Us
Awesome OG Metalcore band, glad to see them back, and great reaction! Please checkout finnish band Lost Society - No Absolution or Into Eternity!
Its so dope of you to post this video!! I salute you! I love this song! And ur channel !
Aild is king of metalcore.. The founder of metalcore genre.. 👑
"I'll be listening to that tomorrow" was perfect haha. Subbed mate! 👌
I love how you said i'll be listening to this tomorrow. that happened ot me when i first heard this. I listened to it a couple times a day for a few weeks.
Check out Nothing More! This is the Time (Ballast) is a great starting point. They very versatile and have some excellent music. Also more Nightwish lol
Really good analysis.... appreciated! Brutal music hits hard...love it.
Kings of metal core 🤘
If i had to pick one perfect song, ever ... i think it would be that one.
Killswitch Engage and All that Remains are two bands pretty similar that you check out. Gotta watch out for Killswitch Engage though, they put up a bunch of "radio edits" that takes all screaming out...
You said it was predictable and you liked that. That’s basically As I Lay Dying in a nutshell but in a great way imo. They don’t do a bunch of crazy off timed stuff, or venture to far off. They know what they are good at which is great metalcore and they stick to their formula for it in the best way! Dudes have been my favorite band for years. They’ve honestly progressed and gotten better and better with each album they’ve released.
My favorite song from them. They’re such a great band and happy as shit Tim is back.
They are the OG's of Metalcore (with KSE and some others).. before even the word (metalcore) existed. I really can't point a song from As I lay dying cuz even if you pick blindfolded a song it's awesome for sure.
Dude, AILD INVENTED metalcore. They are the OG. ABR - everyone learned from them. Tim is legendary.
Josh has the most awesome cleans in the business. Every metal core band is influenced by this band including August burns red
Jesse Leach would like to have a word.
Definitely should check out "Undertow" personal favorite out of all their albums
Hahaha yep...I'll be listening to that tomorrow
Class band delivering class tunes
fan from this band I love it
I just love this band! And i just love that you are reacting to them!! Go ! :) This band is sick! In a good way! My own dirty pleasure listenin to this song! :) My fav of them! I have listened to them for many years! And this song i can relate to! 🔥👌🏼🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻 No they are not predicteble at all! Listen to more of them :) I hope i spelled that word right lol
As i lay dying are OGs in metalcore for us 90s babies
You should check out their Awakened album. Best metalcore album of all time, IMO. Defender, especially.
2:23 well, yes and no. What you hear when listening to August Burns Red could basically be As I Lay Dying. So given the fact you never listened to AILD before, or dont remember any song from them, you could think you hear ABR when listening to AILD, but it's the other way around. AILD are the kings of Metalcore and an inspiration for bands like August Burns Red and others.
Shadows are Security and An Ocean Between Us are some of the best metalcore albums hands down
even Frail Words Collapse is fantastic, although its production value is a bit old school at this point
their newer albums Awakened and Shaped By Fire are also freakin great
it's really hard to say even a handful of my favorite songs, they have so many amazing tracks
but I can highly recommend Wrath Upon Ourselves and Through Struggle
(also Comfort Betrays, Morning Waits, Nothing Left, Truth of My Perception... I better stop now)
And i request please see tittle ' A greather foundation' thats a perfect song
Answer for 1:14 no it is a microphone those are not that heavy.
Again an insane band you've chosen her, also a favourite. I agree, the bassist is an insane singer, love his vocals. Your rection shows me you need to listen to more metal :-P
Could you react to Killswitch Engage - The Signal Fire, the lead vocalist has a great voice now, much cleaner, drums are INSANE, and the tune is one that'll stay with you
If u want something special check Amorphis - Amongst Stars. It is another great band in Finland like Nightwish
❤
Hve you seen/heard: Refused - New Noise? I highly recommend. Hardcorish piece.
I know this video is a year old but welcome to the one of the 2 metalcore gods
Who is the second of the gods of you don’t mind me asking?
No one punches space and air like Tim
Bro don't be afraid to pause for sharing your opinions. We are here for your opinions and reactions. At least it's better than talking while missing some good parts lol
Hey man you should try Lamb of God-requiem please. It's unique and you'll love the drums
Please react more range of metal genre
I suggest you Unleash the Archers, Frozen Crown, Austrian Death Machine, Majestica, Rise To Remain
Lead singer put a hit on his wife, long story, 6 years in prison, than the the band, forgave, dug his own grave, and therr know one else to blame 😊
Trivium song in waves
Love As I lay dying! Like you're reactions! Metalcore has always been my favorite! I love all kinds of metal but always come back to good old metalcore. You should check out Any given day... You would like em! Also they not metalcore but, you ever check out Gojira? Fucking amazing!
There's a GOJIRA Playlist on the channel. The drummer is so hype
There are so many good metalcore bands that don't even exist anymore like chimaira, and shadows fall... Check em out man!
It would be cool if you checked out Any given Days Dianna "Diamonds" cover!
Rihanna
Aaron Klein Chimaira. Hell to the yeah! Regret never seeing them live. 🤟🏻
bero these guys shit on august please
Angelus apatrida song cover pantera domination
Have some fun with Austrian Death Machine
ice nine kills jekyll and hyde!!!!! Please do this it's a lyrics video it's so sic!!!!
Omg +100 upvotes for that rent about slow choruses! Bravo! :D it kills me as well. Best example of good verses and boring chorus: almost any killswitch engage song
They have muuuuuuch better songs mate, not a good one to start with :D but you couldn´t know. Try for example Through Struggle or Nothing Left by these guys ;)
I disagree. While I love their older stuff, the new songs are just as strong and some are stronger. More technical guitar/drums and better, more interesting cleans.
I disagree too, while I love the old stuff as well, especially "An Ocean Between Us" and "Shadows Are Security" the current Album "Shaped By Fire" is a monster! And "My Own Grave" is no exception, this song is a massive banger!
August burns, red, are you just comparing them with AILD? , AILD Is the founding Titan of metalcore broo, even Slipknot has an inspiration from them
You saying you have no idea makes me feel like you have an idea what you listening to
Hoop, the Sound of truth ! you have to get back to it :D
