The Mandalorian is a visually nice show, the action is always pleasing, but the plot is riddled with holes and inconsistencies.
Another excellent breakdown of the plot and its problems and its positives.
Looking forward to your destruction of the last episodes of STD.

Another contrivence I found was how easy was for Mando to find exactly the information he was looking for, Moff Gideon's ship location, in the brief time between his face scan and being interrupted by the officer. Quite the feat for someone unfamiliar with the Imperial computer systems.

About the future of Mayfeld :
Considering he's marooned on an hostile planet without a ship or allies i have an idea of what could happen to him.
We know that the convoys are attacked on there way to the base. But from where ?
Got to be a mining operation with an imperial force on the planet. If not why attack the convoy ? The convoys are the weak chain link between the mines and the base.
I think he would offer he's knowledge to the natives to destroy or retake the mines from the empire. He need allies and money or a way out. Using his knowledge to destroy an other base of the empire and get rewarded for it with money or a ship from the mining operation would still be in character. He could create some sort of militia, resistance force or join pirates who steals from the empire.
Self-serving but not a bad guy, after all he kill and steal from the empire.
All that idea would happen off screen and be told in passing during a conversation in season 3. They would not make it happen on screen but i can see it happen off screen.
What do you think will happen to him ?

At some point I hope these show runners hire you before the season is filming. I love these reviews they are professional critiques instead of emotional. Proper use of Cause and effect keep me in the show to enjoy the dialogue and emotional set ups.

The reason for Mando to show his face was dumb.
The Imperial have no security for there systems ? What's the point of showing your face if not to see if you are in the system has a imperial ?
You could have the same outcome without getting dumb with the same budget.
    My idea :
Mando and Bill (i can only see him as Bill burr) go to the terminal with there helmets on.
Bill go in the system using his ID code and passwords. (in an another story we would get a hacker).
The Imperial officer go to them to congratulate there success.
He invite them to drink at his table. To drink they need to put out there helmets. Obviously.
Bill does it but not Mando.
The officer think it is disrespect and give him an order to put it off. The tension is rising.
Could end in a shoot-out. Bill say he can't hear because of the blast of a bomb during the attack. Make sign to Mando with his hands to put it off and approch his hand to his blaster in case he refuse.
Mando put off the helmet because the mission is more important.
He's ready to throw away his ideal for the Child.
The rest go on like it is. Bill kill the imperial because he can't cheer for the Empire.
It's a little difference but make more sense to me.
Mando compromise his WAY and Bill is ready to die to not cheer for the empire.
The fact that both action happened because of the same officer at the table is better naratively in my opinion.
That's a little rewrite who put out both problem off the original : Bill keep his helmet & Mando put his off without making the Empire security a joke.

A possible way to explain the face scanning plot hole might be for auditing purposes (as opposed to a verification of all authorized personnel). Let's say a certain sensitive file was accessed from the Imperial Database... internal security could then pull up the captured screenshot of the operator and cross-reference that image or save it as a person of interest. This might come back to haunt Mando later if his face gets plastered on Imperial wanted posters all over the galaxy.

    • @cynik4507
      @cynik4507 3 года назад

Sorry to say that i think it would make the Empire look dumber.
Free access to sensitive file shouldn't be authorised without ID, passcodes and scan of your face. Authorising anybody to access the file but take a photo of them to after the fact identify someone criminal is still dumb.
We can argue that since the fall it may not be possible to have an updated system for everywhere (if you get promoted on a backwater planet, how can the rest of the empire know it ? If all the systems can get access from anywhere it's a security risk.) Anyway it would need a better reason.
I don't like to have to write the story in my head for them. The fact that it's not addressed in the episode prove the writers are bad.
Your explanation should have come from Mayfeld when Mando took his place :
      - What happen if i show my face ? Wouldn't it cause an alarm ? - No. It take a scan for auditing reason. Etc...

@@cynik4507 I agree it's not the most elegant way to ultimately get Mando to show his face and that there should have been a scene where he asks Mayfeld those important questions. The obstacle for the writers was probably that Mayfeld was the intended hacker so hacking the chip/computer system to recognize him as authorized wouldn't work since Mando made the last second switch. I imagine the conversation could have gone something like "Wouldn't the face scanner recognize you as unauthorized Mayfeld?" "Nah, these backwater Imp posts have horrible comms for real-time authentication. They just face cap you locally and hope the ISB actually cares enough to check the scan later. I already disabled anything that would red flag us on the chip and upload the scan, so we should be good to go"

No, they just want to know if the person using the terminal has a face. So no buttheads and droids can use it? I don't know.
I think it was writen into the episode, because Mr. Pascal wanted scenes that force the Mandalorian to show his face, and they didn't want to put any effort into the reason why.
Every time I see Pedro's face, I realize: He isn't the person I imagine under the helmet, at all!

alternatively you can give the "pirates" more than just Thermal Detonators, give them some limited anti air capability. If you don't want them to have RPGs because those could be shot at the Transport, use a Gungan style forcefield bubble so Tie Fighters become ineffective, or just have more and higher Trees like on Kashyyyk. ... or just a smoke screen so the Pilots can't see.
That would still enable Speederbikes as escort.

The Mandalorian also has a problem with character names. Imperial officer *Hess* really? Dr. Pershing (why not Mengele, if you already have names like Hess?). Fennec. What happened to good old Star Wars names?! What's next? Jedi Master Squirrel? Space pirate Mink? Moff Göring?

Script love your work I demand more content LOL. I was thinking of creating some content for RUclips as a hobby send my question to you is what is the best way to add pictures and music to audio? And can I get away with using 8-bit cover songs or is that copyright infringement? Would appreciate any advice you can give thanks

Find some editing software. There are many that are free. I have Final Cut X which is expensive, but it is one of the programs we use in the industry along side Adobe Premier. As I don't use any of the free software, I don't have any recommendations, for which I apologize. As for 8-bit music: Try and find some royalty free songs instead of covers or if you have the skill create your own. RUclips does have a library of music you can use that will not bring any conflict to your content. If this is going to be a hobby, keep it casual, be genuine, always be willing to acknowledge mistakes or new information. Try not to over dramatize whatever it is you're making content on and most importantly have fun doing it.
Thanks for watching and all the best to you and your endeavors.

I feel like you are approaching this with a glass half empty point of view. I feel like if you wanted to you could focus on the positive aspects of this episode an think it was great.
For example, take the juggernaut chase scene. You are correct that hijacking the juggernaut with more difficult, but is that really what this episode needed? We know these characters are good at what they do, it doesn’t need to be reinforced. What this show needs is more character development and by putting Mando and Mayfield in the juggernaut that’s what we got. Also, I think having our heroes riding the unstable bomb creates more tension than riding speeder bikes beside it.
Criticism is required for improvement, but it should not prevent us from recognizing what is good.

It's a shame that this show can be so easily ripped apart. It's not trash like the Disney trilogy, but The Clone Wars was better than this.
