Hi Eddie. This was all done in the Palace in Blackpool. The video for our second single, Wicked Love, was the one that was partly shot in the State. The State shoot was dead mad. The video production company had got Radio City to mention that there was a video being recorded and that there were extras needed. Loads of people turned up and at one point Dale Street was partially blocked off with all the traffic diverted. I'd been in the studio and when I turned up later on the bouncers wouldn't let me in, I said I was in the band and they told me to f***off :) I had to phone my brother, who was our road manager, to let me in through the side door. Jorinde's voice is so full of character and subtly shifting tonal nuance that helps to bring out the energy and positive vibe of the song. She brought those qualities to the follow-up hits 'Wicked Love' and 'Controlling Me' too. Not many people realise that 'Insanity' was one of the ten best-selling singles of 1991 and would have been a No. 1 hit at a more normal time based on sales (it outsold Color Me Badd who were No. 1 for three weeks earlier that year, and at least six other No. 1 hits of the year), but the summer / Autumn of 1991 was super-competitive so it peaked at No. 3 for three weeks.

Alright, Alan. You are very welcome mate. I think a lot of us had great times back then. Whether we were making the music or listening to it, it was all the same, a very special time 👍 Cheers, Dave.
I’m totally with you - 16 years old, with my boyfriend (now husband) double dropping white doves or DM’s and on our way to meet the convoy of ravers at a fuel station somewhere in Lancashire - either ending up in a warehouse rave or on Southport beach with hundreds of other ravers - literally the best time of my life and made me who I am today - I feel extremely lucky to have been part of something so special... there’ll never be a movement like it ever again... I get goosebumps when I remember what it was like....
I am from Birkenhead, used to rave in the Drome or Basement every weekend, off my kite; they never played it in the Basement as that purely hard-core but it used to get played 2-3 times a night in the Drome as it would send everyone to another level. All these years and I never knew it was recorded down the Rd from me at the bottom of Argyle St. I have never played musical instruments and just hit a mid life crisis, went out and spent a few grand on Polybrute synth, HS80 speakers and have my neighbours banging on the wall, lol. I just need to learn how to play it now as it sounds like shit even though it's capable of magic.
@@claire1506 Yes, I think they recorded it in a studio above the old snooker/pool table shop that was on opposite side of train station. I too used to go to Atmosphere. Great club, kids of today wouldn't know a good night out if it slapped them in the face, too busy taking selfies. I would love to go back to the 90's No money No mobile phone No commitments No stress
One of the originals, earliest and Greatest of the Great Rave/ Dance Era.... What a great composition of a tune. Love to hear this as a random surprise on a club night out!!!
Still an absolute classic. I well remember the first time I heard it, one of those wow moments! Such a well constructed and performed piece of music, with a stunning vocal. Controlling me and Celebration are just as impressive. That album still sounds great today. Thanks for these classics.
Ah man, the memories! This for me is THE original rave track (along with Rozalla) from my earliest of early raving days in the early-mid '90s. What a time. And what a track, of course. Truly classic.
This is one of the tunes of my life - takes me straight back to The Academy @ Boscombe, Bournemouth. I lived for my Friday and Saturday nights many, many moons ago - hands in the air 'take me into insanity' loved those days :-)))
Back in about 92 some DJ got hired for our school disco and was expected to play the usual pop shit, but he played this and kclass and black box etc...finished on this and no slow dance...
I still play this, my daughters 21 and she looked at me as if to say. ........what the hells that rubbish you're listening to.......I love it 33 years later lol
Rem being in The State in Liverpool dancing to this and trying to explain how i just wanted to hug the song. Im sure having an "ecstatic" time had something to do with the hug. Amazing song, love it as much now as i did back in my clubbing days.
Takes me back I've passed the baton to my kids they grew up hearing me play all the oldskool from 88 to 94 what an unbelievable moment in history and big up to all the old oldskool racers who keep it alive
I went to college in the UK in 1991, damn those 2-4 years in the early 90s were an amazing time, raves and dance partys and everyone buzzing all the time in every club in every town. Hardly ever saw violence, it was just a happy time. Then the summer holidays in ibiza, corfu and tenerife with the lads it just great days.
Yeh I was living in the Canary Islands back then, mainly Tenergrief, and the clubs at Veronicas in Las Americas were all heaving from dusk til dawn back then.....Bobby's and Busby's are the two main clubs everyone wanted to go. Me? I mostly preferred going to the Kangaroo Club if I ever went to Veronicas, they used to have a live band playing old rock songs, which was more my cup of tea at the time. I did like insanity though, plus the Orb amongst many others 👍

Mentally and physically handicapped that's what
MitchelGant Dennis the menaces or rhubarbs and custards 😁😁😉
Wow I didn't know it was recorded in Birko! I always went to Atmosphere and it was always played there too. 😂 I'll love this song forever! ❤️👍🏻

Yes, I think they recorded it in a studio above the old snooker/pool table shop that was on opposite side of train station.
I too used to go to Atmosphere. Great club, kids of today wouldn't know a good night out if it slapped them in the face, too busy taking selfies.
I would love to go back to the 90's
No money
No mobile phone
No commitments
No stress
One of the originals, earliest and Greatest of the Great Rave/ Dance Era.... What a great composition of a tune. Love to hear this as a random surprise on a club night out!!!
Nice one James. Thank you.
James Arbuckle so true
Takes me back to a club called Sinatras in Magalluf. By far the best dance tune of the 90s. As fresh today as it was back then.
GOD DAMN !!!! ... over 30 years ago, and it still would kick many of today's tunes asses ! (old man saying "they don't make em, like they used to").
Old man agreeing :)
Played the hell out of this at Scorpio in Charlotte, NC. Took a while for it to catch, but it ended up packing the floor!! A truly awesome song!!
So glad I found this, takes me way back to the AMAZING 90's 🙌🙌🙌
Still an absolute classic. I well remember the first time I heard it, one of those wow moments! Such a well constructed and performed piece of music, with a stunning vocal. Controlling me and Celebration are just as impressive. That album still sounds great today. Thanks for these classics.
I first heard this summer 1991 in The Cotton Club Wrexham, absolute banger!!! Couldn't wait to see it get into The Charts.
Ah man, the memories! This for me is THE original rave track (along with Rozalla) from my earliest of early raving days in the early-mid '90s. What a time. And what a track, of course. Truly classic.
Still one of my favourites from the 90s - absolutely excellent!
for me this would be in the top 3 best techno song choruses ever. It's ironic but I've had it stuck in my head while asleep a few times.
Sketti Boi good tunes are never forgotten
My top 3 also its epic
This is one of the tunes of my life - takes me straight back to The Academy @ Boscombe, Bournemouth. I lived for my Friday and Saturday nights many, many moons ago - hands in the air 'take me into insanity' loved those days :-)))
Someone decided to drop this in the early nineties... at the start of my epic Uni adventures... endless love going out to Oceanic 😊
👍
Back in about 92 some DJ got hired for our school disco and was expected to play the usual pop shit, but he played this and kclass and black box etc...finished on this and no slow dance...
I heard on the radio yesterday and was immediately back in the early 1990s. Top music!!
Youth of today will never know this kind of banging music. 90s oh how I miss ye...
I still play this, my daughters 21 and she looked at me as if to say. ........what the hells that rubbish you're listening to.......I love it 33 years later lol
Just seen this on a top of the pops repeat. I danced to this in clubs when it came out❤
Me too!
Awesome 😆👍 Cheers, Dave.
Rem being in The State in Liverpool dancing to this and trying to explain how i just wanted to hug the song. Im sure having an "ecstatic" time had something to do with the hug. Amazing song, love it as much now as i did back in my clubbing days.

The T7 will be slower.
raving dropping e's loving it up ahhhhhh best days of my life 😄
I went to college in the UK in 1991, damn those 2-4 years in the early 90s were an amazing time, raves and dance partys and everyone buzzing all the time in every club in every town. Hardly ever saw violence, it was just a happy time. Then the summer holidays in ibiza, corfu and tenerife with the lads it just great days.
Yes, great times 👍
Yeh I was living in the Canary Islands back then, mainly Tenergrief, and the clubs at Veronicas in Las Americas were all heaving from dusk til dawn back then.....Bobby's and Busby's are the two main clubs everyone wanted to go.
Me? I mostly preferred going to the Kangaroo Club if I ever went to Veronicas, they used to have a live band playing old rock songs, which was more my cup of tea at the time. I did like insanity though, plus the Orb amongst many others 👍
One of the great clubbing sounds of all time.takes me back 20 years.
Flicking through youtube and come across this. Every now and again you come across a blast from your forgotten past...Great song. Take me back to better music times...

Definitely one of the best tracks from the year I was born. Up there with 3AM Eternal and LTTTC!!!
I remember this choon!! I loved it.
I also love reading these comments. Everyone from Fremantle to Liverpool loved this tune back in the day.
I think that was the strength of 90s techno...it really brought people together. I miss those days.

f*king magnificent - right back to the 90s living in L'pool. Such a powerful voice and tune.
Cool. Takes me back to doing acid tabs and "cruising" in my mates Ford Escort van with outrageous sound system and Rs Turbo seats n alloys! Sweet.

Nova Sport for me at the time...good times
Was 17 / 18 in 1991 - never heard this until today thanks to The Story of Top of the Pops 1991 on RUclips - brilliant song
👍
No shit I used to vote for this song every night on the top 40 on b105 in Brisbane for a while there while I did step aerobics in my room at night as a 14yo! 😆
Hi Linda. AWESOME :) Cheers, Dave.
I would record the top 40, cutting out all the talking so I could just get straight to my room and lose myself dancing after school.
Absolutely superb piece of music. Can't be touched. The feeling listening to this is immense. No need for drugs with this.
Early 90s were fkn mint
90's no better time to be in your prime....wow something that had to be lived but can never be truly explained
