I got this melody stuck in my head for at least ten years by now and couldn't remember who sang it! I even sequenced the intro synth part in a MIDI sequencer. So I pulled out Shazam and tried identifying, of course it hit many other songs. I had to go through several keys and tempos until Shazam finally recognized the song.
OK let's clear some things up; yes, in reality it was the best song at the ESC in 1996, but the way it sounded on the stage, and the way she sang was not good, and that's why she didn't win.
If you were born in the late 80s/early 90s, this is the kind of song that crept into your brain as it was developing and it's always there but you can never touch it. (._. )
I can remember this song so well because I was DJing in 96 and wherever I was DJing at the time this was always a floor filler!! Ahh such happy and fun memories
Simply because our European "friends" are a bunch of biased bas*ards, and there's isn't any point in the U.K even entering, cos we'll never win again. Eurovision isn't even funny, just a sad joke.
I just turned 72. Still love this tune. It got me out on the dance floor at 47. Still does when I go out to a club with my friends if they DJ isn't to young to know good club music. Yes I still no how to have fun with these children who think they know good dance tunes.
The dancer in the pink dress in this music video is Miranda Cooper. She's an extremely successful songwriter (writes for the sugababes, pet shop boys, girls aloud etc.) and has spent more time in the UK charts than any female in history making her a multimillionaire. Gina G on the other hand......
THe 90s was a great era of music. Maybe a little derivative, but it was really fun it was totally different to the 1980s which was probably a better more creative era of music. The 1990s was total break from what went on in the 1980s and yet it was enormously fun and it was differernt also I was a young man 20 something in the 1990s so the music and movies was a happy time for me. Also I might add. The 1990s was a relatively politically stable prosperous period if you were living in any western country also if you were especially a young person it was a good decade to be living in any western country. I was fortunate to be living in Melbourne, Australia in the 1990s. Yes it was a happy positive decade for me. I wish I could go back there. But whats gone is gone and you can't turn back time. But the music can take you back for a few minutes to that era when you listen to 90s music and recollect when you were younger, fitter, healthier and happier.
I'm not really a big fan of eurodance or edm (I'm a fan of heavy metal and rock) but this has to be one of the catchesist songs of all time. I love it so much, it's sad that this didn't win Eurovision. ❤
I usually jam to Megadeth, Priest, Sabbath, and stuff like that. But I definitely remember this song being big in the US, and liking it. I did love La Bouche, Real McCoy, and Ace of Base when I was in 4th & 5th grade. But what really set me off as a techno fan was the Mortal Kombat soundtrack. Super underrated.
@@williammunny1844 I love megadeth, Judas Priest and Black Sabbath. I totally agree with you, not every dance song isn't good, but artists like real mcoy are really catchy and good :)
@@ilovegeorgeharrison haha they are indeed very catchy. I wish I coulda traveled to Europe when Eurodance was big. We just called it “techno” in the US, and it was really only a niche thing here. Grunge and rap were the popular genres over here. I bet going to raves in Europe and “dancing like a prick” woulda been great during the late 90’s and early 2000’s LOL.

That's dedication. I can't say I wouldn't do it myself.
mikosoft why didn't you just google the words from the chorus? or did you only remember the melody?
Gary Jules That's right, I only remembered the synth intro. Not a word could pop into my mind. It would be too easy, wouldn't it :D

OK let's clear some things up; yes, in reality it was the best song at the ESC in 1996, but the way it sounded on the stage, and the way she sang was not good, and that's why she didn't win.

How the heck did this not win Eurovision
Simply because our European "friends" are a bunch of biased bas*ards, and there's isn't any point in the U.K even entering, cos we'll never win again. Eurovision isn't even funny, just a sad joke.

@@stuartskeggs1322 behave, we won literally a year after this.
Because it had already been played to death all over Europe. People were sick to death of it by the time Eurovision night actually came around.

The 90's was awesome and weird at the same time. I miss the music all the entertainment in general.
The dancer in the pink dress in this music video is Miranda Cooper. She's an extremely successful songwriter (writes for the sugababes, pet shop boys, girls aloud etc.) and has spent more time in the UK charts than any female in history making her a multimillionaire. Gina G on the other hand......
+prasert85 The dancer in yellow-green is Chloé Treend, but can anyone identify the lady in black, who did not appear in the Eurovision performance?
It DID win Eurovision, I believe.
