Wow, thanks! This thing came with no instructions, except for the filter. A bunch of words to basically say run it under water for 15 seconds. You gave me the info quickly and efficiently. 👍🏼
Glad I could help! So far we are still happy with this purchase. The calcium deposits on the top lid are still difficult and annoying to clean, haha. My wife still buys bottled water, but less often because she also uses the Brita dispenser.
Thank you so much was up at 4am tryna figure out why the water was coming out so fast! I fixed the filter and now it’s super slow but atleast i know it’s working now lol.
I bought this dispenser today. Previously, I owned the pitcher variant. The problem I found with the pitcher is that, the lid covering the area where the water poured from, when cold, I found that it would stick, so that, when you pulled out the pitcher from the refrigerator and started to tip it to pour water, the lid would stick due to the cold temperature in the fridge. As a result, water would spill over since the lid, would stick to the lip of the pitcher. Hopefully, this dispenser, would cure that. As a bonus, the dispenser, holds more water than the pitcher and there is no chance of water spilling as with the pitcher and the sticky lid.
The design of the pitcher top lid could have been simpler instead of the fancy lid it had. My only annoyance with the dispenser is that hard water deposits forming on the top black portion are easy to see and hard to remove. I scrape off the deposits with a knife and then use a 1k grit sandpaper and water sand the rest off.
Depends. I doubt you will get one year of use from it. Brita recommends changing the filter after 40 gallons of water filtrated. Beyond 40 gallons of water the filter is less effective so there's a change in the taste of the water, its like a taste in between new filtered water and the tap water.
Does this only work through the spigot? Can I pour water from the top of the reservoir if I want the water to flow more quickly (i.e., when pouring into my coffee maker)?
Yes, the spigot is the way its intended to get filtered water from this dispenser. I suppose if you wanted to get the filtered water out faster, you can lift and remove the whole black reservoir at the top (w/filter) and then tilt the whole dispenser to pour water into your coffee maker.
I currently don't have a pitcher. When I had one it had a light that would change colors based on the need to replace the filter. I believe it was just a timer and it's not based on the water quality.
Thanks for showing us. I'm in Houston, and we don't have any running water. Things have frozen. So, I have to take some toilet water -- that's all I got, and I'm gonna filter it to drink.
@Zmanu252 Would that have been better? I was afraid that there were metal parts in there, when I looked so I didn't get the water out of there. I just got my coffee cup, scooped some out of the commode, and ran it through the filter. But, of course, I didn't let any toilet paper or the solid parts got through it. I used a spatula to get those parts out.
@@ChavezDIY It is really bad, man. Bad. It's like a third world country. We do not have any water (water lines broke), not much food, and out of car gas. No where has anything. Hey I have the pitcher but all the youtube videos are showing the full line below the filter. Is it cause of the weight or the water should be below the filter
Probably due to weight as it gets heavier the more water you put in it and it becomes harder to pour the water from the pitcher. The water doesn't have to stay below the bottom of the filter.
Can you do a video of how quick the water go from the reservoir to the tank? Mine filters slowly that I have to fill up the reservoir twice after waiting several minutes in between
That's normal. Yes, you have to fill the reservoir twice in order to fill the tank. If they made the reservoir the same size as the tank the dispenser would be taller and may not fit as neatly into refrigerators.
These standard filters are rated for 40gallons or 2 months, whatever comes first I guess. I change it about every 2 months which I believe is beyond the 40 gallons. You can taste the difference in the water when the filter needs to be changed.
I have not replaced it. Since you don't have enough room to spin a wrench on the nut inside my guess is you would hold the nut inside with a small crescent wrench and turn the spigot on the outside in a counter-clockwise direction to remove it. When tightening a new spigot, you would thread it by hand first until it start to tighten. Line up the spigot so its straight. Then hold the spigot as you tighten the nut inside a little bit more (no more than a quarter of a turn) with a wrench. My guess is that there are rubber seals so just remember where the seals go.
You have to fill the top part twice to get the lower tank full. It takes about 5 mins for the water on the top part to go down. I fill the top part and do something else and come back to it.
My tank is filling instantaneously after filling the reservoir....theres no delay as it runs through and filters. And the water tastes like crap tap water. My mom threw away the instructions. Anyone have any input?
That means the filter isn't fully seated. Lift the filter out of the hole and make sure it is aligned correctly. There are four slots where the filter seats into, one of the slots is shaped differently, match the slot with the gap on the filter. I mention this in the video.
@@ChavezDIY thank you! The first time I watched the video i was in a situation where I wasnt able to listen to audio at the same time. Went back and rewatched it, and fixed the filter. 👍 working great now. Thanks.
Oh my! That sucks! I have read in the amazon reviews some people mention that the spigot leaked on theirs too. I also read that the spigot is replaceable. Did you contact Brita to see if they are able to cover repairs for the damaged floor due to their faulty product?
I clean it every time I replace the filter, so that's about once every two months. The hardwater deposits on the top are hardest to clean, I scrape them off with something that has a hard edge.
I would contact Brita customer support and find out if they can cover any of the costs to repair your floor. Someone else mentioned theirs leaked and did some damage to the floors too.
That's unfortunate! Were you able to get a replacement? Maybe Brita can send you a new spigot. I noticed one person in the amazon reviews mentioned they replaced the spigot themselves.
You're welcome! Its way better than the pitcher but I still have a hard time getting rid of the mineral deposits on the edges of the top cover. Using rough abrasives works but it also damages the plastic.
Dude shut up about “I don’t like the handles” and “oh it’s heavy Bc it holds more water”. Like no shit my guy…all you really need to care about is if it actually filters and purifies the water. Literally no help.
