- Hey everyone! We're Eric Lagerstrom and Paula Findlay, and we started That Triathlon Life! This is the story of Eric's first ever 100 mile Mountain Bike Race. The High Cascades 100 mountain bike race is in Bend, Oregon, where we live, and offered a simple way to give this totally new format a try.

Yes, more race breakdowns. Keep them short and sweet. Great job!
Phone/headphone zombies are the worst. Glad you came away with no injuries.
Yes! Please do more race breakdowns on all your off road adventures. Great job on a freaking hard, long, hot race! Bend's mountain bike trail system is hands down the best. Kudo to COTA for making it that way!
I love this format. I think hearing a pro talk through their thinking gives a lot of insight!
Yes, we love the bike stuff.
Congrats on the race and surviving the crash!
Yes! Thanks for sharing this Eric! Love the cinematic stuff but love these too every now and then. Super cool race.
Dude! Crushed this race with such limited experience. Can’t wait till next year’s report.
Never too much race recap. Keep them coming 😁
Awesome video! You are a pro athlete and a pro creator. Well done on your race and the breakdown.
Love this…. Nothing is better than your normal style this was an excellent change. I do not ride off-road but loved the detail.
Love the race recap! I think it is the perfect combination of detailed information and storytelling to show your experience inside the race. I definitely think it could replace the podcast recaps in some format. I did miss more of the cinematic Warren Miller-type storytelling so if you could somehow weave both formats together or leave them separate that would be great.
Congrat. Nice vid. Nice recap. Great soundtrack. 🎉🎉🎉
Awesome ride and recap vid Eric! I was the volunteer in the end putting water in your bottle. Good to see you and Paula out there plus Wattie and Heather too later. Maybe Ring of Fire (half the distance of HC) is in your schedule if your planning more MTB endurance races? Cheers!!
I just love mt biking. So adding this makes the channel so much better.
Any breakdown on the proposal anytime soon? haha. Congrats to both of you!!
Eric, you’re the fricken bomb. Love the TTL content and pod so much. Thanks for all you do for the community. Ride on!
Yes, lov it! Keep it going! Yea gopro!
Fantastic vid! The look on your face after 100 miles looks like me after 20!

Interesting you’re doing this as I’ve kinda said once I’m done with tri’s I wanna do off-road events. Thanks for giving insight
I definitely enjoyed the race breakdown especially the talk of nutrition and cooling strategy. Great work
Loved the race breakdown!!!
I like that race recap format on the vlog. It was cool to have visual to have a sense of what the course and aid stations were like. Great job on the race! The incident with the air pod dude had to be super frustrating. Cheers!
Excellent Eric! Congrats!
Incredible job!

I dig it, nice recap

Fantastic job...well done Eric...
Eric, congrats! I am not much for mountain biking, but you made everything sound super cool! Also going to take a couple of your nutrition hacks into consideration for my next race! Hope you are recovered. Can’t wait for the next video!
Nice! Enjoyed the breakdown. You got grit! Both kinds in this video lol

Very interesting blog. Thanks and congratulations ❤
Yeah I like this content. Mainly because I love the MTN bike/xterra content you provide. Off road tri > road tri
This was dope dude! congratualtions on 4th! I'm new to the community thanks to my partner. Huge fan of TTL what you got going on here. Definitely gets me amped and inspired to explore the outdoors!
Yeah, do these
Great video!
Gran carrera, Eric!!👌💪👏👏
I did my first 137K gravel race, mostly inspired by your videos around Bend and the amazing places where you train. Thanks you for your hard work with the videos.
This was a good video given your constraints. Would enjoy more.

I liked it Eric. Keep them coming. Sounds like you have a plan for improvement on the next one.
Great performance, fantastic to the point video - feels like having been there. Loved the sprint of Sam or Wattie to the finish line. Thanks for sharing the details!
Sam always goes 11/10 she’s great
Love this style of video! Would love to see Paula do one like this too. I find the nutrition breakdown so fascinating also - great job!
Thanks! Have you listened to our podcast? This is really similar to what we do after races there :)
@@ThatTriathlonLife I’ll check it out! Thanks :)
Well done congratulations
That’s was a great video
Hi Eric,
Congrats for this result, next time on the box.
Heck yeah 🤘
Like this a lot.
Like this video style
Finally caught up ,hate being late to the vlog' anyway here and present finally, great video a slight diversion from the usual TTL vlog's and a great insight into long distance mountain bike racing. And I note the use of the very British Precision fuel and hydration. Great people who even go out of their way to help even us never has bean's with race day nutrition. By the way their chews are awesome, it takes me so long to chew through them you forget how much whatever your doing is hurting. Happy I am back on track with the videos, stay safe both, see you next week, much love from the UK.
Better late than never! Thanks for coming around :)
PF is great, I’ve known Brad for ever and they just send me whatever I need, no strings attached. Love how they roll and sodium was clutch for this race 👍
@@ThatTriathlonLife Yes well I suppose Yours is a bit cheaper than mine? Lol. It is great stuff, they are always helpful as I say even for us everyday age group athletes. I also have every single trucker, beanie, neck buff, soft flasks, they do. take care TTL See you next week, and hope I won't be late.
Nice video🎉
I love race recaps
Would love more MTB content! I got to test the new SRAM GX transmission AXS recently and was really impressed. Curious to hear more on those wheels as my XC bike is due for an upgrade. I tried the Precision gel for the first time this week on a long ride and it was really good and effective. Keep ‘em coming!
I used to be a shimano fan boy, but everything I’ve used from SRAM the last couple years has been so dialed, I don’t miss the former one bit. Once the embargo is up, wheel details 👌
I watch most of the shows and this one was great
Right on, thanks for that 🙏
More race recaps from the pod father please
I think this is the first video that’s dropped since you and Paula got engaged. CONGRATS 🎉!
Haha yah that’s true! Thank you!
Yes dude! I dig it. I liked that you had to mention that you "typical do more cinematic videos" just in case people had issues with this video. I like it all honestly, especially if its the difference between pushing out a video and not.. just because it's not cinematic and wildly beautiful footage.
I think videos like this provide more insight into you as a person and make the more thought-out videos with amazing cinematography even more amazing and valuable.
Thanks man! I like to experiment and never get in a rut with doing the same thing, but sometimes people just prefer the same stuff so it’s familiar and you know what you’re in for.
