serious bragging rights for Sarah; "yeah, we did that trail, pulling the trailer....in the dark...."!!! 👍 really, great team effort, you guys really work well together! Thank you for sharing this wonderful adventure!
What a great team! Working together like a well oiled machine. Love the encouragement and praise for your wife while she drives in the dark. Maybe that’s the reason you both feel comfortable taking a chance on an unknown trail!! Love it!!!!
What a little cutie. Reminds me of my little girl when she was that age; ah what wonderful memories. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Thanks for sharing. Wonderful video.
With the park closed, it was delightful to see this post. A trailer over Mengel pass - you guys are fearless and have great articulation with that small ball hitch/coupler -most 2" ball systems are converted to a lock & load or similar system. Your daughter is having a wonderful childhood!
Redovno gledam vasa putovanja i avanture.Izuzetno ste lepa porodica,i nadam se da ce te imati jos nebrojano ovakvih putovanja.Moja cerka voli da vas gleda.Do sledeceg putovanja,VELIKI POZDRAV.
My youngest son and I drove up Goler Wash, into Barker Ranch, and then Mengel Pass to the Geologist cabin and on to Warm Springs this past February. Super awesome! I usually tow a trailer but didn’t have it with me that time. My hat is off to you for going down the east side with a trailer in the dark! Even though there are many trails that are a lot more challenging, what makes Mengel Pass a bit extra exhilarating is the potential severity of breaking something there. You can definitely break a CV joint, driveshaft, or destroy a differential on that trail, and unless you have spare parts, lots of tools, and bush mechanic skills, it could become sketchy. I can’t imagine that you’d be able to get a tow truck out there.
I bet Caroline LOVE to watch these older video's. Those old miners had a gem of a place to stay. It would be awesome to turn the time back, and made a video during those times... 🤠
Okay, I have enjoyed your videos because they're are more than entertaining. But now I am amazed!! Sarah has got it going on! All kinds of high fives to her. Now I know why she currently does a lot of the driving. Looking forward to the time we can all hit the road again. Keep on doing what you're doing because y'all do it so well. Be safe and stay well.
Another place to add to the bucket list. Really liked the way you caught the changing colours of the desert throughout the day! That rocky trail looked fun! Looking forward to the next video. Cheers.
My dad and I drove the south pass to Panamint in a 2wd conversion van in 2018. It was an amazing road. We tried to explore a few of the old mines off the road, but they were all gated off about 20 or so feet into the shafts. I think my favorite part of that trip was the overnight hike up to the old Panamint city. We also broke the shock mount loose trying to go up the road from Ubehebe Crater to racetrack. LOL
Great presentation of some of the epic spots in Death Valley! Mengal Pass years ago with my 6 year old and Russell’s Camp , Striped Butte , and the old swimming pool at the mine , rattlesnakes and the like.....Truly a great adventure that was relived through this great bringing back from your archives......Thanks and safe travels...Saline Bill....see ya at Expo West!
Hey Bill! We literally just finished a podcast recording where we mentioned you and the saline springs! Hope to meet you out there one day! Seeya at Expo!
You guys did a great job driving over the huge rocks, it was at night too which made it that much harder. But imagine just putting the pedal to the floor and gunning it. Great vid!
Living in south Texas I have to travel extreme distance to experience overlanding. You are so blessed. I am new to this type of adventure and cant wait to get back to overlanding with my son. Can’t wait for covid 19 to let up
Hey Boss, I hear you. I grew up off-roading in the deserts and mountains of California and Arizona. After retiring from the Navy, most of that overseas, I retired in Texas thinking I would be able to see 'miles and miles of Texas'. I love it here but I truly miss the unfettered access to the BLM land west of El Paso. Big Bend is a great place to get some adventure in. And lots of places to go and see in NM and AZ. It's the best thing in the world for your son, teaching him about self reliant long distance adventure. He will thank you for it. Mine sure have. I dragged my boys across Eastern Europe, Africa, Mexico, and the Middle East and it has made them better men for it. Best of luck riding out Covid 19. Until then, have a Shiner and a rib for me!
Great episode. Rode Mengel Pass 5 weeks ago. Surprised you didn't snap a pic or two of Striped Butte. I'd seen it in photos before visiting, but seeing it in person as we crested Mengal Pass was a high point of the trip. Still kicking myself for turning around too soon and missing the geologists cabin. Anyway - great video and thanks!
Very happy that you dug out this old footage. One of my favorites so far! Except for the snakes... not a fan of the snakes. LOL. Seriously though, another amazing video!
Hi Kevin, Im wondering why you turn off your hedlights when running the led bars? It is for power saving and not over loading your battery? Thanks a lot
Would you restore the ghost camp and live there? (I know what we would do!)
Lifestyle Overland was thinking if someone could by it when I saw it
Yep! Although not sure about all the snakes.... !!
That would be awesome
looked like a lyre snake. Venomous but got greatly so, allegedly
I love your channel. Thank you
I am from Iraq. I am following your beautiful trips. I wish you a happy journey.

You can tell alot about a person by how they treat those around them. Father is a kind good man.
Perfect blend of beautiful scenery and exciting night driving! 👍

Thanks for sharing this/your family desert adventure. It's my favorite thing to do too :)
I know you consider yourselves videographers, but truly you guys are storytellers. The music you use and your narration style is amazing.
Thank for taking your trailer over the pass.. now I know I can do it also.. great adventure..

Hi........ from AFRICA-KENYA
that baby girl 🥺😍❤
my grandpa did mengel pass in a 40's willys with a trailer no problem and no crazy mods either. 4runner was never in trouble lol
When you said “turns into a 4x4 road real quick” I instantly had to think about the Germans who in 1996 were attempting the same thing
Fun adventure! Is there a reason to use the light bars with the headlights off?
Canopy and tent How much does it cost?
