I think you have a point, but Strider and McClanahan have two of the highest ceilings of any young pitchers in a long time and of course the Mets aces are legends.
Strider's only volume concerns come from his less than stellar command at times. The braves let him go over 100+ pitches in his last 6 starts of the season last year, contrast that with McClanahan only getting 2 games all season with only 100 pitches. I think strider can definitely be a 200 inning guy in a full season of starting if he can stay healthy, especially if he can fix his minor command issues even a little.

As An avid Juan Soto fan, I would agree that saying Juan Soto is one of the best defensive outfielder in the game is like saying that Tim Locastro Isn’t a top 10 player all time.
Unless he gets to play in the minor league parks again get used to never seeing 2021 Vlad again. His numbers were exponentially better at the minor league parks compared to the big league parks. He keeps getting overrated because of something that is unrepeatable

Congratulations on finally leaving the clown car this year and not ranking him third like you did last year. I’m fully expecting Ohtani to belt out 40 dingers and have a sub-3.0 ERA. His wins is in question with the Angels’ double A bullpen. He should be the easy MVP though as long as MLB doesn’t supply Judge with juiced balls like they did for the home run chase last year.
I think machado increased chase rate could be explained by him being the only real power threat in the lineup last year. With more protection this year, I think his peripherals will return to being elite

Thanks for keeping Buck on the list again! Every year I think he's got it in him. I do wonder how him DH'ing is going to hurt your assessment since he's not going to have that 8 OAA.
As a diehard Yankees and Judge fan, him having a better season than anyone since Bonds doesn't erase the narrative that Trout's career averages are better than his challengers' best seasons. An outlier doesn't break the rule. Judge is very deserving of his ranking on this list, but Trout is still the greatest player of this generation and on pace to be a top 10 player all time. However, Judge's rate numbers are truly historic as well and don't get enough credit. As of now, he is 10th among big leaguers with at least 3000 career PAs in wRC+. That is over what amounts to 4.5 full seasons of play of course. If he can keep up his health and level of play from the past 2 years even for the first 5-6 years of his contract, he should be an easy HOFer. But Trout is still better.
I definitely respect this ranking more than MLBN, but I have one minor (and I do mean minor) nitpick of some analysis. I think it's still a bit presumptuous to assume juiced ball theories are the most significant cause of increased league wide offense. Nonetheless, even assuming league wide offense was down last year because of an "un-juiced" ball, league-wide environment is not a solid basis for extrapolating individual player performances. For instance, I wouldn't suggest that Devers improved because his numbers didn't suffer with the rest of the league. I think that would be a decent basis for arguing that his talent is not as environmentally sensitive as the rest of the suggesting his offense is more reliable than other hitters. I don't think that necessarily changes your ultimate conclusion about the value of the hitters you described with respect to '22 league wide stats, but that sort of nuance may or may not prove significant in the future. I definitely agree with you about injury proneness when it comes to position players, but I'm more skeptical when it comes to pitchers. Now I wouldn't treat Edwin Diaz's freak injury as grounds for being injury prone, but I do think deGrom's injury history speaks to the stress he puts his body through when pitching. Unless deGrom were to reduce his load this year, I have trouble believing that the force of throwing is ridiculous stuff would not cause his body serious stress. I would still say that one should not generalize injury history with being injury prone. I thought I would leave off with a couple of interesting thoughts about players on your list I happen to pay close attention to. Alex Bregman has had a statcast max exit velo from 105-107 for most of his career (it's actually shockingly consistent from year to year). In '22 Bregman had his first healthy season in a couple of years and had a stereotypically strong season. However, his max exit velo in '22 was recorded at 109 mph which leads me to believe Bregman used a good amount of his rehab stints bulking up and has found a bit more power. While I'm also skeptical that he could hit 40 homers again, I think Bregman may surprise us with a new powerstroke this year. I strongly agree with your analysis of Carlos Correa. I do wonder if the shift restrictions will add a new wrinkle for Correa's defense. Generally, Correa's greatest value as a shortstop comes from his arm which has allowed him to position deeper than the average shortstop. His deeper positioning, usually shallow outfield, has allowed him to compensate for his slower movement. Because the shift restrictions will require Correa to be positioned on the infield dirt at the pitch, I wonder if the value of his arm may somewhat diminish relative to his agility simply because he won't be making as many throws to first on groundballs to shallow left and he'll have to cover ground faster being closer to the plate.
I understand not putting Jason Delay at number one. You gotta spice up the videos and get some people upset!!! I’m sure the floods of angry commentators will arrive very soon.
This list is meaningless without having speed demon Kyle schwarber at number 1. Disappointed that you didn’t even mention him when he is easily the best athlete to ever exist.
So, once again, the Angels have the two best players in baseball and they will still finish the season under .500. I guess the one bright spot is the fact that Ohtani will probably finish the season on a team that actually plays in October. Maybe his departure will finally jar something in Mike Trout and he will request a trade as well.

This is the start of the Chommy Edman 6 war 2023 campaign.
vladdy giving no defensive upside is so true but he somehow just won a gold glove
Oof that Marcus semien snubb is looking dicey in June…
I am still a firm believer in Anthony Rendon, I hope 2023 we can see that pay off
He's looking really good in spring training. If he can stay healthy, I think he's got plenty of elite baseball left in him.
Great video, thx Bailey!
Cal Raleigh should be on this list, he is extremely underrated and will be the best catcher this year
I love Cal but I think if a different Mariners rookie were to be on here it would probably be George "Bob Ross" Kirby
There are catchers who hit just as well as him with better base running and defence
@@rowan6582 what other catcher had 27 homeruns in 120 games in a rookie year after being sent down to AAA and having an insane comeback season
Yes a career .201 hitter and 101 ops+ should be on here 🤡
Not the best catcher no
Bailey love your work!!
if Tungsten Arm O’Doyle isn’t in the top 10 i’m unsubscribing
wowww bailey pretty bold to put ji man choi in the top 20!
This list is meaningless without having speed demon Kyle schwarber at number 1. Disappointed that you didn’t even mention him when he is easily the best athlete to ever exist.
You have unfortunately failed to anticipate the year of RANDY
#1 Jay Groome
Ke'Bryan Hayes gonna look so good at #42 on the Foolish 50 next year
Can't wait to see Altuve and Alvarez at 1 and 2 🙂
Nah, but I'll take the Foolish Baseball take on Altuve's role in the scandal though.
Great list. I am curious where you think Valdez and fried deserve to be at
It's criminal that Fried isn't on this list. I'm not even a braves fan.
Jose Altuve love is what I’m here for
So, once again, the Angels have the two best players in baseball and they will still finish the season under .500. I guess the one bright spot is the fact that Ohtani will probably finish the season on a team that actually plays in October. Maybe his departure will finally jar something in Mike Trout and he will request a trade as well.
