  • I feel like Adelaide gets a little bit overlooked in the Australian capital city hype, much like our home city of Canberra. They aren't necessarily the flashiest of locations, but there's a lot of great fun and delicious food to be had. And so in this video, we're going to show you around some of our favourite places in Adelaide.

    One thing that strikes me: everywhere looks so empty - is it because you guys are there in off-peak hours or because of COVID, or is it just really under-populated? I am preparing to move over and have lived in massive, heaving cities all my adult life - so this amount of space and quietness is super-appealing. Beautiful video, thank you!

      I don’t think we were there in off peak hours. It may have been midweek- so that could account for some of it. Covid meant there were a lot less tourists around, but I think it generally is just really under populated compared to what you’re used to :)

      Answer to the question- why is it so empty? As someone else perfectly summed up the reasons;
      “People living in Adelaide are always working or staying home, they don't get out enough to utilise the best parts. All these ‘nice natural places' are at least 45 mins out from the city. mentality=too much effort for a weeknight) so l'd only go as a occasional weekend getaway, or they are in the CBD (mentality=too much hassle & have to pay for parking) in the city.”
      Adelaide does not have good road infrastructure, no expressways so it takes a longer time to travel around the metro area. A lot of stop and go driving. If you want to visit the CBD, museum, art gallery, Adelaide oval, city zoo then Parking is expensive.
      The quietness is appealing at first but then will get a feeling of isolation very soon.

      @@bekind4313 well that's pretty much a totally incorrect statement.Either you're not from Adelaide or if you are you have no idea.Also being that they were there April 2021 covid restrictions were on and many city workers were working from home and people were going out less because of covid restrictions and not wanting to get covid.fast forward to September 2022 and the city is getting back on it's feet,people are out and about and the city is buzzing again

      @@edsa338 Spot on, totally incorrect. No expressway's, always working.....there is also plenty of parking available and you could hardly call it expensive! (Unless of course you normally live in butt%%k nowhere)

    Firstly Let me start and thank you for this video, it's sweet, nice and peaceful to watch.
    my husband and I were discussing if we should emigrate to Canada or Australia,
    I am leaning more towards Australia and Adelaide is the city i thought we could live in, the funny thing is I have celiac disease and while i just started with your video, I was wondering if there would be any GF options since the population of the city is relatively small, and then suddenly you buy the gluten free donuts....and my heart skipped a beat!!!
    Thank you 💗

      Aaw what a sweet message! Adelaide was actually pretty great for gluten free options. You might be onto a winner there! Good luck with the decision making!

    Fun fact. More pubs than churches. Originally called the city of pubs and churches. Rumour had it changed to discourage those "convicts" from coming.

      Funny how they call Adelaide city of churches when there are actually more churches in Sydney and Melbourne than Adelaide.And yeah way more pubs than churches in Adelaide 👍
