The real power move: Watching 1 or 2 trailers, forgetting about them, seeing the game randomly pop up on Steam, getting it without checking any of the screenshots, and having the time of your life.
I wish there is a dlc where you have to rescue Humgrump. Because without him an element of the story is now missing. A hero is only as good as the villain.
Yeah, that'd be a great lesson to incorporate! Besides, weren't there a few lines about The Plucky Squire actually being a series of books? The cover art also had 3D versions of Violet and Thrash, so that would be super interesting to explore!
@@S0RNG I think so too, and the villain's motivation in the story was him realizing that he's the villain of the story. They could open up a new area of the room to explore. Plus 3d versions of Violet and Thrash would be cool. Maybe even seeing a 3d version of Moonbeard.
I imagine a sequel where Humgrump hijacks an abandoned, awfully written book, whose hero is a literal Mary Sue-plot armor and all. In the end, despite losing, he ends up creating a better story.
@@theheroneededwillette6964 Oh, wait, you're right... Humgrump said himself that he was the main villain in every Plucky Squire book at the beginning, didn't he? If he's gone... Jot's first story is safe, yeah, but then all his other stories lose inspiration, and become abandoned stories, since he doesn't have anyone to fight anymore...
The convivence of me looking at this game, thinking, "man., this game looks really cool. Maybe I should try it?" before going to youtube and seeing this is irony at its finest.
This game could not wipe the mud of the shoes of Link Between Worlds. I know this is an indie title and probably has a budget a lot smaller than an official Zelda game, but c'mon now.
This may be my game of the year. The years not over but I’m loving it. This is what drew me into gaming. And don’t be fooled thinking this is a children’s game. I’m old and I’m having a blast
32:45 my father calls it "pop". He grounded me for an entire summer because I wouldn't stop calling it soda, as "have you ever heard anyone smart call it soda?"
1:30:17 Looked it up, apparently Okami released in America on my BD (I never played it, but I've seen it before), but apparently Reggie retired on my BD. For movies, Rio and The Jungle Book remake came out on my BD as well
Not too many games came out on my birthday, but according to my best friend, Dr. Google, these games released: Donkey Kong Land, Final Fantasy 3 (DS), BioShock, Ivy the Kiwi (one of my favs), Mafia 2, Persona 4 Golden and Psychonauts 2!!! Pretty nice list!
Not sure if you’ve played it yet but I would highly recommend another crabs treasure, I personally loved it and it would be great to see your reaction to it.
Tunic is great, played it myself, really recommend it, though unfortunate that it is a story best experienced one time, like one shot, endling or any other one time story games, I bet you will love it
Funny enough, I clicked on this video because I thought he was going to bash the game, but watching it made me buy it and play ahead myself. And I thoroughly enjoyed it! Then I noticed Jot in the thumbnail about to replace 'Sucks' with 'Rules', and I realized I was baited into buying the game! Good on you, Choc!
Speaking of movies that came on my birthday, there was a Disney movie that came out on my birthday. It wasn't in theaters, but it was straight to DVD. It was Mickey, Donald and Goofy, The Three Musketeers. It came out on August 17th, the day of my movie. I love that movie cause it's charming and fun.
Fully enjoyed the game. However, there were some game breaking bugs and it was a pretty short experience. But the creativity made up for it. I’d wait for a $20 sale, but definitely worth experiencing.
Definitely play Tunic if you are liking this! Its super confusing in a totally aweseome way that makes you pay a ton of attention and think way outside the box. I would love to see you play it!
1:22:55 as a electric guitar player myself I would definitely recommend if your trying to get back into music get an orange amp then see how you like it and if you want something better I would go to a local music store or something similar. Great video by the way 😊
Hey Choc, I've been subscribed for about two years and I love your content! If your looking for some different 3D platformers to try, I recommend Ty the Tasmanian Tiger and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2! They are great games made by some friendly Aussies that almost went under a few years ago! I love those games and recommend them if you like Spyro!
This game did have a few let-downs for me. For one, I felt that many of its ideas, although very creative, were used in a way that barely scratched the surface of what they could’ve done with it. The word puzzles were usually trivial, as were the stamp ones, though the passages through 2D landscapes in 3D space were well executed. But in my efforts towards completion I almost went mad with the unskippable cutscenes and dialogue on replaying scenes, and also ran into softlocks more than once. On that note, the 3D sections had a lot of pop-in. It definitely could have benefited from some more time in the oven, though I did have a good time with it.
15:34 For a solid minute I thought topsy was upside down, then I realized it wasn't upside down... And then it rolled over, and it was upside down the whole time!
I played it for free thanks to PS plus and I loved it! So much that I want to buy it on another system to support this game. I want to see a Plucky Squire 2
“Ohh he’s called Jot because he jots things down”. Wait till Choctopus realizes the mighty sword IS a pen
Omg i never realized it is a pen, that is hilarious. I love that
violet's hat is a pencil
That’s just brilliant!
LOL
That thumbnail almost got me
same
I was fully prepared for the game to suck
If you look closely, Jot is actually holding the word “Rules” ☝️🤓
It got me
is it clickbait? thanks for the warning
nahh dont bait with my boy plucky squire theyre the goat
He didnt bait jot is holding the word rules
Ignoring trailers and going in blind is peak gaming/movie watching experience, prove me wrong
how? you're just right
I did this with binding of Isaac and it’s my 3rd favourite game of all time (it used to be 1st)
@@toasttoast7487 I did this with Stardew Valley and I have 7 minutes total since I bought it years ago

Honestly that has come across my mind that the villain of the story being essentially banished might be a bad thing in the long run.

0:32 “3d/2d” game is like the perfect discription for countless amount of games even tho it isnt supposed to make sense
The title mixed with that thumbnail made me think this is gonna be like those videos where someone talks about a RUclipsr that got canceled.
"i worked for Jot, he's a fraud"
"cancelled" 😂

The game is great. Look a little closer at the thumbnail.
@@Choctopus You mean the part where it says it sucks lol?
@@cleo3228 Jot is holding the word RULES - one of the game's primary mechanics is word switching.

Dude, for those who haven't played the game, the thumbnail is too subtle, to the point where it may actually hurt the developers
If people hate a good game because of a thumbnail of a game they didn't play, their opinion means very little.......
Can you make the "Rules" more prominent? This has the vibes of a video that blows up and nobody notices that detail
non issue
I didn’t notice that was there until you pointed it out.
Execaly
This video with the thumbnail feels like an IGN review
"This is one of the most creative games I've ever played. 3/10"
That's not what the thumbnail is saying. Look closer.
Yup, only noticed after writing the comment.

Humgrump totally has the vibes of a Captain Underpants villain lmaooo
That's EXACTLY what I thought! And then he straight-up becomes FLOWEY from Undertale at the end
Congrats on 800k Choc! 1m is right around the corner at this point. Keep up the great work bro!!!!

I love how Humgrump basically went from a Captain Underpants villain to straight up FLOWEY at the end
Dude the artstyle of this game is just so goood🥰🥰
We need an actual book of this
I think they're making an art book with the physical.
i got a reply from the legend himself whooo!
Ah, I haven't seen this channel in a long time. It's nice to see you still producing quality content.
Welcome back! Got a lot planned for the rest of the year, hope you come back again :)

Twilight Princess HD released in 2016 on March 4. Pretty cool that my favourite Zelda game re-released on my birthday.
It's a shame James Turner is not working for Pokémon anymore but it's good to see his designs in full form.

I wish there was more creative stuff using real life items, like the fountain pen word, I wish we had like paper clip boomerang
They really went all out Kirby at the end there with the lore and dark theming lol
This is the kind of game pre-supercorporate Nintendo could have thought of. Now, I think they’re too scared to
