The goop in portal 2 was using metaballs, which smooth the physical geometry. As a result, they look polygonal. This looks to be smoothing the rendered result with some kind of shader, so it definitely looks better. One thing I'm noticing, though, is that it doesn't smooth the outline of the shape on screen--only the interior. They still look like individual balls on the edges.
For how well I think I understand the source engine, (in terms of what it might or might not be able to do since I'm not a coder or anything) you really make me doubt that. Pretty damn cool for what you've gotten so far with GWater 2.
I've not used GWater in a while (bearing in mind that this is GWater2), but viscosity (how sludgy it is) and particle stickiness (how "damp" it makes the surface; how much friction the particles have with regard to the surfaces they touch) were already features. Frankly, marketing it as "GWater" is a mistake. If you can tip it out of a bucket, Mee can probably replicate its physicality. I've been watching these videos for months, and I still don't understand how they do it. Goddamn wizard.
I think that this water would look much better than the first gwater if the water would darken deeper. You understand? the more water, the darker it is
This might be a bit odd but if you are okay with sharing and see this; Is this a hobby? What other features are to come? IF I recall it is capable of having an effect on props; What about players? Do you believe map creators will try and take initiative with your GWater2 and apply it to their maps and try and make a new experience that is all built around it, yet if not them would you make a little obstacle course or something along those lines?
1. Yes it is a hobby and eventually I will release it early on patreon. (The final version will be free and open source though) 2. It will work for players but only for their footsteps since a fullbody collider didn’t play well 3. I doubt it because its a module install, but you could build one if you wanted
The patreon is going to be an early access so it wont have all features (they will be added over time) but the actual free release could take months or years depending on how much polish I put on the mod
the visual improvement over GWater1 is *insane* keep up the great work :D
This literally looks like a tech demo, high quality to the point it looks like this was made in blender
Plot twist: whole video it's just a Blender animation
It is just a tech demo
This literally is a tech demo
Its so strange see this with a such old engine
it truly is tho
i can see the improved performance and ofc smoothness of the water is 10x better i have no clue how your doing it but keep it coming this is great
two more papers down the line and this will look real
WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE
This is my kingdom come
Man this almost looks better than the fluids in portal 2. Or maybe it just straight up does look better, hard to tell.

fucking awesome. I wanna drink it.
My eyes can't believe what I'm seeing
this is very reasonable i think
absolute cinema
I love watching gwater2
Now we just need some water splash sounds for the liquid
THE KING OF GMOD HAS UPLODED

Its powerful but difficult
@@Meetric1 Seems like it would be some sort of tight rope with what works and what doesn't. Keep going man!
genuinely dope.
Here comes the gel from portal 2
Maaaan that's amazing
Woah this is really impressive Mee; you really are a wizard!
0:40 the inventor realizing the fluid can be painted white
to create glue right…..?
No way...
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
its the water shader from shark boy and lava girl
Insanely cool.
How did you even manage to get it to run this well. This is honestly incredible!
DUDE IS LOOKING SICK,i have a question like could you do something similar in s&Box? cuz in source 2 would be incredible
I’m not planning on modding for sbox because of how poorly their developers are treated
HOT
that looks amazing! do you think you could make it where you could change the viscosity of the liquid? i think that would be awesome
Pretty sure that already is a thing
@@billymays8864 oh sweet

Yumy goop...

epic
This is literal dark magic but its still cool. Keep up the good work!
reminds me of zibra liquid/real time liquid simulation. good job
Now we can have nickelodeon slime like in Portal 2 but even better.
this isnt even gwater anymore. this is blender water.
GWater = GPU Water
now you've done it
I have hope
Bro I wanna drink the paint soooo bad 😩😩😩
It has no right to look this good
Oh boy i am buying Patreon 100%
Aperture Laboratories present: The Multi Gel
so cool
Yoooooo
okay that is SICK
This looks amazing! Too bad my PC likely won't be able to run it.
If the specs are newer than 2010 you should be fine
Back on the grind, back to being high!
Liquid ps1 bios
This looks amazing.
this is really great work
Mmmmm... Foam...

yes… like spoiled milk…. totally….
Imagine gore mods with this

I want LIDAR gamemode but GWater2
I heard Valve is always hiring :)

make a big glass jar, then make the water white and fill it up
full of spoiled milk right… right..?
@@Meetric1 no, something thick
when do you possibly have a planned release date?
Unsure
My 1050 is looking quite nervous right now >:)
It runs on my 970 just fine, i wouldnt worry about it
aint no way this runs real time in game

i cant wait to simulate t4t lesbian gex with this mod.
Will there be a lot of optimizations for the addon so it can run near-perfect on lower-end systems?
It runs 60+ fps (you can see the actual framerate in this video) on my hardware which is from 2014. I have a gtx 970 for comparison
how is this even possible in gmod
Thermal water
is it just a blurred second render pass
Kind of yes
@@Meetric1 Blurred second render pass that retains the alpha of the unblurred version?
gimme
I am unable to perceive the difference between this and real water
bro don't realize he's changing gmod for the better
please disable the ability to make it white
No simulating spoiled milk
could you make it transluscent white? no reason in particular really
For simulating spoiled milk and glue right…?
ok this is water
