    Welding is truly an engineering art form. You don't appreciate how hard it is to weld once you've tried it. I cannot even imagine what our world would look like without professional welders.

    There is so much to learn about welding(and every other trade). I remember in my youth I OVER did things to make them 'best' or 'better' or 'not fall apart'. The cost of remodel of those jobs will not match expectations. Recently, my son was welding the frame for a large slab sawmill and I suggested that 'fine' was better than 'that will never move' life provided the exclamation point when a few of those joints needed to be altered or removed. Also, my Dads only son had a similar issue with this listening skill.
    For the naysayers, please post your videos. They will help us all!

    I wish my supervisor would let me use some 045 hard wire on some of the stuff I weld. It would be better in most cases, but instead “i” use, “my supervisor makes me use” 1/16 dual shielded flux cord on EVERYTHING 🤷🏻😵‍💫😵‍💫🤦🏻🤦🏻🙄🙄. So needless to say I’ve learned to adapt… and mind you all our stuff gets x-rayed

    Im a tig pipe welder, my first tip is never get happy with your weld. always improve yourself. in Europe we never finish the weld inside a elbow because is going to absorve more heat inside and will cosed, i know you secure the piece but we both know he will close a litle, we put in the level close to the risk to discount the closing. but you doing a good job i just notice you weld like i weld with mag.

  • @hetrodoxly1203
    @hetrodoxly1203 Год назад

    Great job, if you don't mind a little tip, when fitting a small socket screw a plug into it, it's so easy to distort it when your tapping it into position, I know from bitter experience, I was asked to weld a 2" socket on a pipe that was already installed up in the air on a Friday afternoon, back in my disco days and i was very keen to get home, the job went fine so i thought on coming in on Monday morning I got my balls ripped off, i'd distorted the socket knocking it straight and the pipefitters couldn't do the job they come into do over the weekend, for the rest of my working life i wouldn't weld a socket on without a plug or any fitting screwed into it.

    Saw your garage video. now you need this ruclips.net/video/il2iyT523sc/видео.html . For the big pipe you need bigger pipe stands with adjustable H beam inserts. If you were to do xray high pressure pipe welding outside of the bevels is not allowed. I welded with stick exclusively in my 45+ years and ran a welding rig as a contract welder in Alberta Canada. The job was 100% xray work and in the field mostly. Pipe sizes were mostly big inch 24"-48". Almost always hot work. Even wrote up a 70- page booklet on how some of it was done. It was done for something to do in retirement.
