    Nice video and I have been living a cashless lifestyle for years when I was out stationed to China for work. There is still a number of places in Singapore who do not accept mobile payment. Hope that I’ll be able to relive that totally or 99.99% cashless lifestyle in Singapore..

    Very informative vid! Just a quick q.. When I use my card in the wallet app.. do I pay with Apple Pay/my card’s balance? Also if let’s say I don’t see an Apple Pay sign but a card company sign during payment.. can I still use the card in my wallet app to pay? Ty in advance!

    • @NotATechGuy
      @NotATechGuy  2 года назад +1

      Hello. Thank you!
      It depends on the type of card you are adding to wallet app. If you add a bank card (visa/master/amex) into the wallet, you will be paying using Apply Pay, however, ultimately it will also be charged to your card. Think of Apple Pay as the middleman between you and the card provider.
      On the 2nd ques, yes! As long as the shop supports PayWave (visa/master/amex) payment option, you can pay using Apple Pay.
      Cheers!

      Hello, I think the easiest way for hawkers to onboard the cashless journey is to minimally enable PayNow or GrabPay.
      For PayNow, I believe all of the hawkers already have their own bank account (personal at least). The hawkers can easily generate their own PayNow QR Code via their bank's website, a simple google search will do.
      For GrabPay, I have never onboard it, but I guess it won't be hard. Just simply go to GrabPay Merchant website to register: www.grab.com/sg/merchant/pay/

    Hi bro, i think there is new update feature under apple pay which is “express transit card”. You can select which card to be the express transit card.
    But i still dont know if we have to open the wallet apps to tap on mrt/bus? If it does not require to open the wallet apps, it will be fantastic. Have you try this feature?

      hey there, as far as i know, the "Express Travel Card" feature is currently not supported by Singapore Transit System yet.
      I have enabled my card as "Express Travel Card", unfortunately I'd still need to unlock Apple Pay using Face ID/Passcode in order to tap into bus/mrt.
      The Suica card in Japan do support the Express Travel Card. I have tried that when I was travelling in Japan 2 years ago.
      In fact, there are many other countries out there that supports the Express Travel Card, such as China, UK, US, etc...
      You can find all of them here: support.apple.com/en-us/HT207958
      (Country/Card with * means they support Express Travel Card)
      I really do hope 1 day Singapore will support the Express Travel Card. That would make our tap in/tap out into a more breezy experience :D

      Hi Andy, I think there are 5 cities (Chicago, LA, New York, Portland, Washington DC) in the US that you can use Apple Pay/Google Pay to pay for transit. Check it out at Apple's website: support.apple.com/en-sg/HT207958
      Cheers to that!

      Hello, are you referring to how to setup Apple Pay on your iPhone?
      1) Have your credit/debit card by your side
      2) On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay
      3) Tap "Add Card"
      4) Follow the on screen instructions/steps, it will involve adding your card number
      5) You will receive SMS OTP for verification while adding the card
      6) After you have added your card to Apple Pay. You can activate it through double click on Power Button (Face ID) or Home Button (Touch ID).

    • @NotATechGuy

      That would be very frustrating 😂. Remember to always have a backup, I always have my physical ezlink and debit card in my wallet for such incidents.
      And also ensure your phone is protected with lock security so that others won’t be able to use your apple/google pay if they found your phone. Cheers 😁

    Let's be realistic. Assume that I want to get food from hawker store (any), so I will still need to carry some hard cash.
    I'm more concerned with the bus and MRT. Can they all accept mobile payment?

    • @NotATechGuy
      @NotATechGuy  3 года назад

      Hello Alex, yes I totally agree. The limitation now is that not all hawker accept cashless payment. That’s something government need to push harder. We can just hope for now. But I am seeing many hawker getting onboard the PayNow trend now, which is a good sign.
      Bus and MRT wise, yes, all bus and MRT accept mobile payment such as Google Pay or Apple Pay. Even credit card (as long as they are VISA or MASTERCARD)

      Actually not necessarily, if the machine supports payment by Apple phones, it will definitely support payment from Google phones (Google Pay) as well.
