These live lessons are a crowd favorite. Let's see some high handicap or even beginning golfers. Your ability to explain makes all the difference.
Appreciate it! Will work on that....good idea!
I'd be very interested to see some very beginner golfers. I may become a special olympics golf coach out of pure necessity and would love to see how Cogorno works with a beginning golfer.
@@chrish4522 That's awesome, I hope that works out for you.
A man this lesson was directed straight at me! I’m awesome with short clubs and my dispersion gets worse and worse with the long clubs because of my narrow down swing great video Eric!
Identifies and solves my problem too. Great video. It's as if he had a video of my swing when I wasn't looking.
Thanks Nick! Hope it helps ya!
Ah man these just get better and better. Well Done Eric, team and students.
Showed this to a mate who has very similar issues especially lack of rotation, over use of hands, steep, u name it. This ticks so many boxes and literally could be useful for every practice sesh. Love it!
Thanks, Greg!
A master teacher at work. (1) Diagnosis of problem. (2) Thorough explanation of problem. (3) Clear, concise demonstration of solution. (4) Simple drill/solution to achieve desired swing change outcome. All presented in friendly, non-pretentious, and non-judgmental terms. Thanks for sharing, Eric. 👊👊🏌️♂️⛳️
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching the channel!
Really enjoy watching these live lessons. You always explain things well. Simple and concise.
Thank you, Tim! Happy to hear it!
Really like these lessons with your students. Great job.
Appreciate it Nicholas!
That tip and the lesson as a whole was amazing; as it is exactly what I need right now in my swing’s evolution!
Thank you, Joseph! Hope it serves your game well!
I use a launch monitor daily and my driver/fairway woods club path has driven me crazy since I bought the monitor. This simple fix has corrected my club path easily. Kudos!
Great to hear that David! Thanks for being here with us!
This is so relevant to me right now. This is my next range session. ⛳️ Thanks for such a great video.
You got it Mark hope it helps!
Great lesson! The section with Champ about club more laid down (downswing) as opposed to steep and above right shoulder was eye popping! 👏🏼. Extending that right arm is key to shortening the backswing. Having to tell your brain to shorten the backswing just does not work. Basket drill is golden! Closing eyes with basket drill really helps feel the sensation 10fold.
Thank you Teva!
This is sooooo me! Great lesson!
:)
I’ve been making so much process lately with my flat left wrist so glad I saw this so I can start my next conquest the journey never stops! I love this game
Love it!! Thanks for being here with us!
This works really well and will add distance to your game. The one thing I have to keep in mind is not to over swing. When I do, I hit some grotesque duck hooks that end up OB. Of course that’s just me. Keep your tempo relaxed. It’s a great tip by a great instructor.
👊
Appreciate you being here with us!
Getting more forward is what I’m working on to help my flip. Great video
Thank you, Steve!
2:16 that clubface is pointed *directly* at the ball!! What a good position to be in!
$$$
Had my son video tape a couple holes I do this same thing !
This is great !
Thank you for watching!!
Nicely done! Thanks for this video, it's a tremendous help
Thanks so much Michael!
🙌🏻
💡moment
I just realised I do exactly this (without knowing it) and I am going to try this drill at the range this evening
Wow!
Great lesson and great explanation of what's and why's and how to retrain ingrained muscle memory
I'll probably revert back to the 45° right arm the second I step on the 1st tee box on the course though.......
From the UK I thank you sir
Really appreciate you sharing your absolute wealth of knowledge
Thanks, Ian! My pleasure---appreciate you being here with us!
really enjoyed that . such an Eye Opener.
Happy to hear it! Appreciate you watching!
Thanks for this lesson. I am having the same issue. Did the drill and hit balls and see a great improvement.
Our pleasure Marty! Love to hear that!
Love the live lessons Sensai Eric
Thanks Stevie!
This video addresses the main issue with my swing--my right arm collapses and I over-swing. Everything you said applied to me--better with short irons, can be too steep, two-way miss with driver when I can't time things up. Will work on this drill. Thanks!
👊Hope it serves you well Trevor!
I think this guy gets it he could be tuff in a scramble 😀😀😀
Awesome video. Thanks!
Thanks Hutch!
I enjoy watching your live instruction videos...but please create one using a very high handicapper student ( + 20 ish ) for those having problems getting through the ball smoothly and creating any compression ....thanks
Hey Gary!
Happy to hear you enjoy the live lesson content!
If you type in "Cogorno Live Lesson" here on RUclips, we have filmed a whole bunch that you may enjoy checking out👊
Appreciate you being here with us!
Literally needed this after my session at the range today. I feel like when I get more width I make better contact with a lot of my clubs in the bag and not just the driver. I tend to get steep on the way down.
Love it Anthony
When I think of the amount of times an Internet guru told me to jam that right elbow into my rib cage. This has transformed my swing
Great to hear this!!
OMG. thank you so much. That really clicked in me. Okay, bye, I'm headin' out the range.........
:) Hope it helps Oliver!
Nice work EC. Better players always listen well and don’t interrupt when the person they are paying to help them is talking ha.
I watch so many videos on YT where the student apparently knows more then the teacher !!
Thanks Mark!
Love it, any recommendations on items we could use besides a range bucket? I really only get to practice at home…any help from anyone would be great!
Maybe a plastic trash can...or buy a range bucket. You can buy them.
@@nicholasortiz4222 Yeah, I had a brain fart like "I have nothing like that at home" lol thanks
I really really like the range bucket for this its like perfect size----can buy a single one on amazon!
The best tip came from Danny Maude. I use many of yours obviously, however for the driver consistency he showed how to whip the driver at impact, which makes sure your left arm is straight the clubhead square and finally hearing and more importantly seeing how the ball is hit with the driver with so much more consistent. Even when you practice with a half swing with no body movement the ball comes off the clubhead so well.. You both are 1A and 1B as instructors on you tube
Thanks for watching Tom!!
sorry if someone has asked this question already... is there a specific bucket available from amazon that is suitable for this drill?
Hey! Yes either a medium or large golf range bucket on amazon would be perfect!
Great video Eric. Would you recommend having the same width for irons? With the wide right arm, how far do you take it back in the backswing? I tried this and getting any higher than shoulder had me standing up or swaying. I can get to just above the right shoulder though.
More or less yes with trail arm width...but typically more hinge sooner with irons
here are stock amounts for right arm width:

@@CogornoGolf Thanks Eric!
Ok, now I’m confused. I feel like this is anti-lag swing. I know his elbow was bent more than ya liked but wasn’t the lag good?
Great instruction. I bend my right arm just like that and I have issues with driver too.
On another note, where can I get those little orange cone tees? I play a Par-3 course with my wife that has mats for tee boxes and she is just learning so we like to have her hit off a tee vs off the mat.
Thanks John!
Im not sure on the tees but I think he got them right from Trackman included in the simulator setup they purchased
@@CogornoGolf Interesting. Thanks for the reply. I don't think I can afford a Trackman just to get those tees :P
@@CogornoGolf It looks like those might be Bir Tee simulator golf tees. I found them online searching on "Simulator Golf Tees"
It looks like your removing his lag angle, but that’s from his wrist not his elbow. Correct?
Hey Keven.....too much lag with driver is no good!
The next lesson will be early extension
isnt this contrary to the ben hogan right elbow hug to chest and release?
What if the arm is TOO bent?
You can have the arm CLOSE or FAR from the body.....this is about the amount of bend
Will this fix the across the line if he swings to the top? Thanks!
Part of it
Sir I have a question. I'm working on feel of getting front shoulder down and forward in backswing for more than 6 months,Initially for 2 to 3 months I played excellent and in camera the overall swing looked really well by only working on this backswing feel . as I continue to work on same feel now after 7 to 8 months in camera my front shoulder looks down and forward for most part of swing that's why now front shoulder is not going up in downswing at right time as a result now I'm hitting very flatter and down. Sir what should I need to work on now ?Any suggestions?
Hey Noman!
I really need to see your swing on video to say for sure whats going on to say how to fix
www.cogornogolf.com/freetrial send in your swings
Can this help left arm extension through the ball too?
Yep!
"he who gets the most out of his driver will have most width with trail arm... or she... or whatever" nice save, you almost got cancelled! :D
Would the typical miss be a hook from his prior mechanics?
Could go both ways
a driver swing is different from iron swing?
Yes. Trying to hit UP with driver and DOWN with irons. Watch this video for more info!
ruclips.net/video/vj3py9jZ6q8/видео.html
I have a question. If straightening the right arm shallows the downswing, does it also flatten the bottom of the swing arc? Is this a move that would help with fat/thin consistency? Sorry if you answered this in the video, I may have missed it.
Hey Chris
Yes to the first one
Too many other variables for the second one
@@CogornoGolf Thanks, Eric! I kind of suspected this would be your reply, but I appreciate the confirmation.
I take it this would help with someone who has a chicken wing?
Yep!
@@CogornoGolf thanks
He or she or whatever 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The reason he is steep, His feet are too close together, he leans his head in front of the ball before impact. Straightening the trail arm is more moving parts. Not good for amateur golfer. Set up is everything.
Thanks for your thoughts Dane!
@@CogornoGolf love your stuff man, I’m not hating. Just telling you what I see. Don’t change ball position and move his back foot back and make him keep back heel down through impact. That will shallow the bottom of his arc. Not that he needs to keep heel down when ripping , but do that drill will let him feel club face stay square longer through impact zone
