The real gem here for most of us there is a limit to what we can fix in a given amount of time. RUclips presenters are releasing content so often that much will not be something we should work on before we largely complete ome or two necessary changes and go on to the next thing. You really meed to see a qualified teacher. Yes it costs money but it will save you so much time and produce better results than digging it out of the dirt. Been there.
I have watched over 100 instructional golf videos and this is by far the best and simplest video I have ever watched! For some golfers it maybe the only one you need to watch for making consistent contact with your irons!
Eric, after over 100 videos online, this is without question, the BEST video I've ever seen to fix my consistent mistakes of hitting my shots left with a definite pull and then 30-40% fat shots. The weight shift to 60% to my left side and closing my shoulders with my right arm lower than my left will and IS making a definite difference. I can't thank you enough for this INCREDIBLE instruction !!!
Hope it serves you well, Wes! My in-person lesson schedule is completely booked through October, but please email service@cogornogolf.com with the subject "lessons" and we'll add you to the email list/notify you of any new openings in the coming months. Thanks!
Bringing me back to this awesome video on weight/balance, which I have struggled with lately, particularly with wt inside of the left foot (I did not know inside!) and inside right foot (60/40) takes my breath away. This explains so much with my terrible balance issues. This combined with your other video I just viewed, reinforcing importance on starting rt shoulder higher (like the "k" I believe) toward left shoulder down.. bingo.. and I will feel back in business and confident playing my round this afternoon! I had been hitting long and straight, and on next shot totally out of whack out of balance and lifting and overswinging. Your instruction helps greatly with my consistency! Thank you thank you!
Excellent lesson, Eric. You do a great job communicating and demonstrating each part of the swing you want him to adjust. You also do a nice job explaining why he needed to make the change. Well done!
This video is the best ever, the reason being it's what the vast majority of recreational golfers (like myself) need, and seeing it in a real lesson situation is absolutely brilliant. I would love to see fairway metals and driver lessons next ...PLEASE 🙏

Wow!!! I am blown away Eric. You are such a great teacher. Your student and I have the same issues (pulls to the left and fat shots). I am practicing in my kitchen and when I go the range, I can already see positive changes. Thank you so much.
Eric - you've boiled things down again perfectly. Hitting the ball from the inside is exactly like taking an outside pitch to right field (for a right handed batter) in basebal. Perfect example. You are so good at explaining these things simply so that your students can understand the concepts...it's a real gift.
This is *much more useful than teaching guys who already have low handicaps. This is taking a normal guy, who can occasionally crunch the ball, but who's scores are all over the place, and showing him how to make big improvements.
Your coaching is relatable in a common sense type way. I've been playing golf for almost 30 years. I wish would have found someone like yourself when I was in my 20's.
Great video as usual Eric. Its really helpful to include us in your teachings to others. It helps make the content more relatable to see someone who may have the same tendencies that the viewer is struggling with. Also love the emphasis on how long it should take to work on tweaks over the course of several months. It helps me remember to not try and work on too many things at once before one aspect is fixed over many many sessions. Thanks for the content!
This entire lesson is a nugget Eric. I've already watched it 3 times. I've been grinding to figure out why I cannot keep from coming over the top. I suspect that your point about the right arm being lower than the left at address is my major kryptonite. My current setup has the right arm 1000% on top of the left. No way you don't come over the top from there. Having taken a few practice swings with your proposed setup, the inside path is paved. It also makes my turn sequence way better. As always, you are the man!
I have watched this at different times and continue to learn from it. I keep coming back to it after practice sessions. So well explained and coached. Thanks for all your videos.
Hi i love the way you analyse broke down problems into different areas and work thru with solutions from the most important upwards starting with proper understanding of weight distribution at various part of the swing. I also like the fact that you emphasise .. do you feel that after each correction.. loving every process in your coaching methodology .. coming from a tennis coach.
Hi Eric, I’m a beginner golfer and I’m just trying to get a basic swing together. Even though I’m not as good as the chap in the video, it’s refreshing to see someone actually deliver a lesson to a person who actually needs it, rather than a pro just showing how to hit perfect shots and making it look easy. Well done, liked and subscribed. If I was closer I’d pop in for a lesson.

Great lesson. I was wondering though why you didn't have him flare his left foot out as he kept it square which promotes too much weight transfer on the backswing away from the target which was his main issue. I swear that is exactly how I would describe my current game to you Eric. However, working on better hip turn (as I've mentioned in other video comments) as well as I know I have a tendency to set up with feet more or less square but shoulders open. Working on that one too... I do work on trying to bring the club more in on the backswing, but I guess I'm always afraid of coming too far from the inside too soon... Love that phrase, "Feel weird and goofy but look correct." 😀 Wish I were a tiny bit closer to you (just south of Baltimore) I'd come see you for an in-person lesson in a heartbeat! Until then, thank you Eric as always for the easy to understand and implement tips and feels. I feel like this was my own personal virtual lesson!

I have the same exact issues and I am blown away at how simple the fix is. I video myself all the time, went back and watched and sure enough, club flying outside at the start causing pulls and shanks! Thank you Eric!
UPDATE! I have been your "online" student for several years and this 25 minute session has literally changed my game. I am back to where I was 20 years ago and in just after 4 weeks breaking 90, and the last 2 rounds breaking 80, easily. I'm hitting the ball farther and straighter than I was 20 years ago, but without the slice, just straight or a bit of a draw. It feels like cheating! I cannot believe how easy this is! I only hit about 10 buckets of balls to groove the new swing but well worth each penny! You will feel a huge change at the beginning, I wont lie. Taking it to the course is hard because of the front shoulder and feeling so closed and the right elbow bent and lower than your right arm. It feels like you are going to hit it so far right, but eventually your alignment and swing will feel more normal with each swing and the contact is crisp. For all you pullers, stick with it! Even for those of you that don't pull the ball, this will work for you too.
We got a “that’s about as good as I can hit it” from John! You can tell he watches the channel ay. 😂 great lesson and nice to see one with a higher handicap player
Tucking shirt under right arm pit at set up and keeping it there has effect of getting right elbow under left elbow and shoulders slightly closed at set up.
Eric, IMO, this is much more helpful and informative seeing you demonstrate drills and results with your textbook pro swing. It would be great to see your student again in a month or so to see the before and after.
20 swings a day since we filmed this and I’ve made some great strides but still plenty of work. Played one of my best rounds ever last week. Ready for that follow up idea whenever works. I’m here and ready to work! Thanks again
Eric, a great lesson! I find that something subjective like weight distribution makes me exaggerate excessively. You had another lesson previously where I think the same concept was discussed with objective goals, namely partial swing with deliberate iron to ground contact past ball position. That has helped tremendously on the range and on the course for me.
Hey Eric I noticed your student is using a baseball grip and am wondering if he is a lefty swinging right, I also am left handed but swing right with the same grip, just feels more natural. Thanks for the tip and will definitely stay more 60/40 on set up.
Grip definitely PART of it----but didn't want to do too many things at once....could have the shoulder part done with any grip style so wanted to focus on that
@@CogornoGolf Thanks Eric! I have a friend (honestly not me haha) that baseball grips the club and his right arm gets over the top a lot pushing the shoulder over and the ball left (he opens the face to fade back to centre). Does a baseball grip compound this particular issue as it forces the right hand lower? I've had to micro adjust this myself (particularly in the shorter irons) with an interlock so appreciate it's not 100% the grip. Another fantastic piece of content btw. You're doing coaching content better than anyone out there mate.
I might as well been at MY lesson with MY instructor. I do the same and he tells me the exact same as YOU! Within 5 minutes I’m cured again until I mess up and need brought back into line and again only takes minutes as I know the drill
Thanks! Honestly its just a lot easier logistically because we have 2 cameras setup to film....when hitting off grass and taking divots need to move around more it messes up the camera angles---or at least more inconvenient :)
John still hit really nice shots with his before setup. If he was world-class over the ball, maybe flared the feet to help those hips, a little more forward knee bend, and better hip-to-ankle relation, I bet he would crank a 5-iron for 200+ yards. Dude has a nice swing.
This was one of the best lesson videos I’ve seen. Keep up the great work.
Thank you!
Completely agree. Awesome

Lol love it---didnt even realize that--too funny :)
Tucking shirt under right arm pit at set up and keeping it there has effect of getting right elbow under left elbow and shoulders slightly closed at set up.
I like that!
Nice. Shows why one needs a pro to look at your swing.
Thanks! For sure---great coaching so important. Completely changed my game!
Wow, I wish I had an hour with you .😎⛳
:)
Love this video
Thanks! Hope it helps!
Great video
Thank you!
Eric, IMO, this is much more helpful and informative seeing you demonstrate drills and results with your textbook pro swing. It would be great to see your student again in a month or so to see the before and after.
Love that idea! Glad you enjoyed this one!
Love that---agreed!
Very good!
Thanks Damian!
@@CogornoGolf Cheers Eric, I never miss your video's. They are excellent and have helped my game. Keep up the great work!
Hey Eric I noticed your student is using a baseball grip and am wondering if he is a lefty swinging right, I also am left handed but swing right with the same grip, just feels more natural. Thanks for the tip and will definitely stay more 60/40 on set up.
0-0:30 That's me to a T.
Hope this one helps your game!
Oh my that is me too!
Hope this one serves you well!
This is exactly what I'm working on.
Hope it serves you well!
This guy is going to slay long irons. He pivots so hard he recenters his front foot but he times it so well he’s still on it at impact.
Positive vibes---I like it!
Is that a baseball grip there Eric causing the right arm and shoulder to align too far left?
Lol great minds :) Hope this helps you over time!
Lot easier watching someone improve and understanding than you demonstrating perfection.
Appreciate that feedback!
great video and im gonna look into implementing these into my swing but that shot tracker is a mile off the ball.. lol
Hope it serves you well! :)
Good stuff! You are always hitting off mats instead of grass. Is that better for learning?
Awesome guy as well!
Hopefully this helps with the shanks too
I have faith in ya :)
This dude is me 💯
Hope this one serves you well!
Eric looks like he could open up that back foot a ljttle at setup?
Its an option---wanted to focus on shoulder line first
