It feels like the viewplane "parallel to the face" behaviour should be default behaviour if you want to have a 2D outline of your part. I dont think "outlines with perspective" are are useful as such. Feels like such a big workaround.
Hi Darren. Thank you for all of your videos which have helped me with FreeCAD so much. Feels like this is similar to needing a square to face view to produce accurate Techdraw drawings. When faces are at angles, I use the very useful macro Align View to Face to achieve this.
Hi thanks for all the great vids on freecad.. I’ve had issues with the exported svg or dxf using this method.. when imported into my cut software (carbide create ) the svg/dxf are not closed.. is there a solution/setting I’m missing .. if I export a simple let’s say square with a circle cutout it’s fine but a square with filleted corners is broken in a few joints but not all joints.. thanks again..
this is perfect for a project i am doing. as you know. so cool to see just how easy it is, thanks darren. keep doing excellent videos. i hope the freecad team are recognising you for such great content.
I would love me to know a more complex flattening. As an example take a complex pressed shape and flatten it to find out what the original flat sheet should be prior to metal forming.
I do have something in the pipeline, a freelance job that I needed to do sent over a part that needed flattening. So that will be released within the next couple of weeks.
every time I think about how I can do this or that, a video from you comes up … Kudos !!
😊😊😊😊😊 Thank you

Could you look into making threads.. like a top for a marmelade glass, a toothpaste tube and such..?
I already have one but I want to do another video which is a bit more updated. ruclips.net/video/_GFoU0SIVG4/видео.html
