    looks and sounds like a great radio so far. solar weather effecting the ham and SW bands as well. that may be multi country as well. Retevis does have some great radios. I have some ham ones and GMRS and a MURS and all great. use them all the time. nice to see a CB. have to put that on a tractor take it out . years back in 1980's we put CB on farm tractor . worked great for local comms on the farm. now we have FRS and MURS and GMRS. skip changing as we get into spring . I am loosing DX to England in the early am. but south America coming in now. I got Sal Polo Brazil on CB SSB just the outher day. and that was done on T2LT antenna up a fiber glass pole. has a great match. I made it with RG 8X . sitting in a park ! was around 40C in Brazil the day i made contact. in NY we had some snow ! CB radio can be fun !

    Retevis has always done the FRS & GMRS radios and I have some FRS that work well. I know it is completely different tech, but I would love a CB radio that also could transmit and receive FRS. We use FRS on our farm because they are light and rechargeable. Maybe one day, thanks for the review Eric.

    • @FarpointFarms
      @FarpointFarms  3 месяца назад

      I think the issue is that CB and FRS use different antenna's as well, so it would still be kind of a odd setup with both as one unit.

    It looks like my dual band Anytone AT 779UV My ham version can be changed to GMRS or European use by holding in the top left button on the front while turning it on. On my radio it is the V/M button which the CB has labeled SQ. I would try turning it on pushing each button in turn to see what happens. I already have tons of CB's and other radios, but I just might get this $120 radio just to play, the HAM Ver. is 25 watts.

    Not having a squelch knob to adjust is the deal breaker when noise over runs auto squelch. That antenna would not survive a drive in the woods and the first low branch. ctcss/dcs transmit and receive would be so easily added to talk to your gang members without disturbance from others,.

    Thank you for the video. Excuse the newbie question, but are you effectively operating it as a base station in the video and using the included antenna without it being attached to a vehicle and any metal? I've seen some discussion on radio hobbyist forums that mobile antennas won't function properly as a base station without those adjustments. Is that nonsense or is the answer more complicated?

    • @FarpointFarms
      @FarpointFarms  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes, I am using it as a base station, but no, I wasn't using the stock antenna. I had it hooked to an Antron A99 base antenna. To use a mobile antenna at home, you'll need to have a metal roof.

      This reminds me of my grandmother whose native language was Spanish. She was never able to speak English fluently. She would ask us that if she mispronounced a word to please let her know so she could say it correctly. She always was trying to learn, to the best of her ability. We would correct her very occasionally and she was always appreciative. She never got mad about the young'uns correcting her and would try to remember the correct pronunciation next time. My grandfather on the other hated to be corrected so we let him mispronounce words. This was usually to the amusement of others.
