Top mount supercharger is probably the best for packaging. Then pro charger and turbo or twin turbos the moat complex
Pro charger is my go to power adder. Short belt, with a crank support, and ive had 0 issues. No crank support, and you lose the belt
procharger would be the real flat torque curve from 0-7000 RPM
Would love to see a centrifugal supercharger in drifting but connected to the nose of the crank like a promod so no belt...
The biggest issue is length. They are long as hell. They also have problems with the compressor wheels “touching down” on the housing. Not sure this would be an issue. I also don’t believe them being so direct to the crank, is a good thing. A belt offers a little bit of elasticity to the system and with clutch kicks and just hard driving. You might be finding the limit of direct drive Prochargers.
Their lives tend to be shorter even in a drag car with an automatic. And there's still the issue of having less than ideal bottom end and mid range.
Some tracks don't allow electric vehicles, Summit Point has banned them for safety reasons mostly because of the fire risk. Its too bad because I think a hybrid drift car would be great especially if it had electric motors on the front wheels still allowing crazy angle.
This is largely the reason. Otherwise it is very promising with technology today. We already had the motor and battery for the setup
tracks allow LiFePo batteries (like antigravity batteries) so i don't see any issue.
@@DingDongDrift An electric car battery is much larger than a small 12v battery powering the electronics. Once it catches fire it’s hard for the first responders to extinguish and it will damage the track. Huge proper road race tracks offer the best layouts for drifting but also the strictest rules unfortunately.

exhaust on the rocker is asking for troubles, imagine doing a tandem and the guy rams your door, you will just lose your exhaust and lose tons of power

I feel like not as many people run the pro charger set ups. Just Odi & Matt like you said is who comes to mind at the pro level. Lauri in DMEC is pro charged right? I think that would be cool.

well he gave it away and its some type of belt driven boost. imma go out on a limb and say its a centrifugal supercharger since he moved the motor back and its better performer then a roots blower because it doesn't get as heat soaked
With that much instant electric torq, i think turbo will be perfect
I feel like you could make a electric drift car work, with a regular transmission with clutch, using a big electric motor at the place of the gas engine
Excited to see this but just to question the modifications that you are doing like the floor would it be legal in FD or any other comp? Just asking abt that one because the rear suspension can always be reversed

Turbo
a long time ago Chrysler 4 cyl engines and way before that, old carb turbo F1 cars ran the turbo under vacuum, with the throttle body on the throttle body on the inlet side of the turbo. I believe they had special oiling seals in the turbo, so it didn't suck oil out of it. it does give up a bit of max power, so not for drag racing, but since the turbo keeps spinning in a vacuum when the throttle closes, there's almost no lag. I've already thought that would be perfect for drifting.
Odi and Matt seemed to have the procharger setup dialed and they seem to have minimal issues with the setup. Besides pushing the setup tuning wise and other parts letting go.
They run Vortech superchargers and need nitrous to make up for the boost curve.
A medium range turbo with the quick rev tricks. Could be a CRAZY feeling car lol

Big single turbo with your exhaust out the side like you talked about. If you have it similar to the way taylor ray did his its not too much plumbing and easy to manage heat.

Why not just use your E46 trailing arms? Why reinvent the wheel?
If it’s the mount that you want to change. Just fab from toe adjusted forward.

why chose a supercharge or turbo when you can throw both of them in it ? and if you add also electrification will be a monster torque in all range !
Id love to do a direct drive procharger with a drive belt that only goes to the alternator.
With some kind of a slip clutch I think this would be the best. But if direct drive it would just break on the first clutch kick
supercharger, don't put the exhaust in the rocker! if someone doors you/ crashes into your side it will not allow for exhaust flow.
Turbo is the best, fuck throwing belts
Why switch to trailing arm suspension? You mentioned it will make adjusting anti squat easier, is that the only advantage? Is it just a better system for drift applications?

I wanna work with you guys so bad I love all the innovative stuff you are doing and learning from I respect that so much and want to wake up every morning and solve problems like you guys are doing I look up to what you have done Josiah I am also Christian and just look up to how you are living your life I am going through a rough time in life and I get so motivated just watching how far you have come in the last 5 years and I aspire to have role models in my life that are as good of people on your guys team I just got 2 years and 8 months of sobriety and motorsports fabrication has been my dream job since highschool and then I got into opiates after breaking my femur 15 years of an opiate addiction was what i ended up and now working on it every day just to become a better person now that I don't have to worry about staying high all the time. Anyhow drifting specifically has been something for me that keeps me away from even thinking about drugs anymore and it has literally been God Sent for me and I know this was a crazy message to send but I just had to let you know how much I admire what you are doing with your life and I aspire to be like you and at the very least surround myself with that caliber of people. I isolate and watch a lot of RUclips to escape and watching people like you living your life to its fullest is what helps me think I could be that happy also one day if I do the things you are doing. Anyway Amen brother and can't wait for the day to run into each other at a drift event to thank you in person for helping me see the goal!
