Thanks for the video and tips. I am about to use one of these for the first time and I wanted a little insight so I don't look like a complete doofus on my lawn in front of my 10ish neighbors.
I have the same lawnmower. I found that the screws at the base of handle bar came loose lost 2 screws. Also the battery compartment gets really hot and once to hot it stop working. To fix this I put hvac metal tape on top of the battery cover and 1/2 foam from cushion on inside taped it with metal tape. This reduces the heat dramatically batteries stay cool no more shutting off also saves battery.
I have the other version of this mower and witht he newer larger batteries i love this mower than previous ryobi mowers i had. I know other brands people recommend but since i had ryobi tools it was why i decided to get mower. First two were disappointed in but they did their job. Gave ryobi one more chance and i was amazed at this lawn mower, i had buy a second battery but was worth it. I still look at other mowers but for time being the self-propelled version of this is what i will use for time being. Is it perfect? No but all mowers has pros' & cons in my opinion. Also got this when it was on sale so that was a plus, price another option i always look for to.
you need to press the button and hold it and then pull and hold the lever, and it should run if not make sure the bagger or the plug is in place properly, it has magnetic sensors that will lock out the mower for safety.
I own basically the same model. The one complaint I have is that the Blade is far too "Soft". I have a lawn that is 40 years old and this "Blade" already has nicks in it. I am going to replace that blade with a REAL blade.

I have one and no a full battery not required to start, but you won't get the run time on a lesser charge.
how much mowing time on average do you find you get on one charge of its battery?
Not sure on time exactly but I manage to mow and line trim a quarter acre on one 5ah battery with a bar or 2 left
Just about an 40mon-hour, however it depends greatly on the type of grass, ie how thick/tall/wet etc.
