The cheetah remained within 30 yards of the lion the entire time, while the lion was sprinting as fast as it could, and still couldn't get any closer. The cheetah was trying to tell him "don't this, man, don't embarrass yourself".
The cheetah saw the lion from the beginning and @ 3:52 the cheetah was like, "really bro? Are u really going to try to run after me??"

From beginning to the end the Cheetah was toying with the lion knowing that it could outrun him at anytime. At times it even waits for him to catch up to make it a bit more competitive, sort of mocking in a way!

Cheetahs cannot run for long periods of time though without overheating lions catch them periodically.

Lions are more often out to get cheetah cubs than cheetah adults, though they will occasionally go after adults too. Male cheetahs usually move in groups of two or three, while mothers move alone along with their cubs. It's quite typical that a mom will defend her cubs by taunting an approaching lion, enticing it to a chase that takes it far from her cubs. That might be the case here.
@@frankiethefrog1752 the lion would only catch a Cheetah after a Cheetah makes a kill or even if a cheetah was injured, and i’ve seen videos where the chase has been hours and still didn’t catch it
That male lion was moving very fast, and had stamina as well.
No-one can run like cheetah 120km/h but lions are fast they can run up to 80km/h that's a lot.

@MugenSensei cheetahs don't have great stamina when sprinting at top speed. But they don't need to run anywhere near top speed running from a lion. The cheetah can pretty much jog away

I think they always try to scare other cats out of their territory They know by experience its impossible to catch a Cheetah in that situation.

At first the cheetah was hesitant to run, giving the lion more ground to at least pace up😂
This male lion is feeling really good and well-fed to waste any energy running after a cheetah. Obviously predators by necessity try to run off other predators that compete with them for prey, but the cheetah doesn't represent any threat to the lion nor could lions possibly hate them as much as they do hyenas.

The Cheetahs can be a great food source for the Lions. All they have to do is let the cheetah run down the prey and then go and take it from him.

When it comes to fighting, it ain't one. The lion will kill the cheetah, effortlessly. What we're seeing here, is the other way around, the cheetah outrunning the lion effortlessly.
Cub: Dad what did you do today?
Lion: Chased a Cheetah in the open, almost caught him.
Cub: Mum, Dad has stopped taking his meds!
I could hear the cheetah growling @ the lion. The cheetah was not happy about that situation, even though he/she knew could outrun the lion. I hope the cheetah finally got out of the lion's sight.

4:00 That was some serious pace from the lion. Despite their reputation as being too bulky, male lions in their prime can put on some real speed over medium distances. There is another video out there, where a male lion in it's prime chases an intruder at top speed for quite a distance.
I now understand why they often manage to catch up with trespassing younger lions.

Unfortunately lions have chased down and killed cheetahs before. Luckily for this cheetah it was right out in the open so it could gain speed to escape

Most People think lions can't run or hunt. They are laid back and lazy no doubt because all or most hunts are done for them. But when in the mood they do unbelievable stuff.
A male lion can run for 3 hours non stop and fight for more than 36 hours non stop, that's what it lives for. It can spend 20 hours a day sleeping thus preserve energy for what it was created for

Make lion was in high gear, at maximum RPM, as fast as he could go, full out, and the cheetah just kept it in 1st gear at low idle, barely trying and he still couldn’t catch it.

The lion wasn't trying to catch the cheetah but rather run the cheetah off and out of the lion's territory, which it succeeded.
Thank goodness that Lion was not fast enough or never will be.
This Ndhzenga male lion seemed to be so irritated by the mere sight of the cheetah or just felt like having some fun😎🤔!
And yet, many people think that lions can actually run up to 50 mph, which not even close, and much more in the range of 28 to 36 mph....
Big cats chasing other big cats as potential prey is hard for me to reconcile. Lion had no chance btw.

Neither cat can maintain top speed for more than a minute or so. That is why they periodically stop and rest or slow to a trot.
Those wild dogs are so fucking smart and they show more care for their pack members than pretty much any other animals.
Notice how the first dog jumped onto the little island so he could watch for crocs before proceeding the rest of the way across, very cautious. This left him with a shorter distance of having to be in the water.
Then they showed that they were very happy for each other for making it across safe. Those are some amazing animals.
Fun fact they are not really dogs although they are related, they have a different number of chromosomes and cannot breed with a dog or a wolf. They also have the highest hunting success rate, and if there is a sick or injured dog that cannot go hunting they will go back to home base and vomit food for the dog who is unable to hunt. That's also how they feed their young.
Also everyone gets to eat at the same time, they don't normally fight over food with each other. Even the lowest-ranking dog gets to eat with the alpha. It is very restricted on who gets to breed though. Some bitches will leave and start their own pack so that they can breed.
That cheetah was totally fucking with that lion and taunting him. The cheetah never even kicked in the turbo at all, not even close. I don't know why but lions really hate cheetahs. They lose a lot of their kills because almost any other predator can just walk up and take their kill from them. They're great hunters but they're kind of big pussies even for their size really.
That one baby lion that was nursing from its mom looks like he is taking no chances. He stays right there with Mom and walks underneath her just making sure nothing is going to eat him. I guess it could very well save his life but he better start toughening up.
