  • A classic from the ever-popular guitar master Eric Clapton off his bestselling Unplugged album. So great! Join me to learn the chords and right hand patterns for this groove-based tune. We'll do a slow playalong and then it's full speed ahead. We'll do more lead stuff at the end for those looking to improve their improvising chops as well - fun!
I'll be using the 'Ballad 2' pattern on the Beatbuddy at 68BPM for those that are interested.
Songsheets are always available at / guitaratwork
And.....we'll be playing along with the fabulous BEATBUDDY drum machine pedal and we'll be using the amazing AEROS Loop Studio GOLD EDITION pedal from Singular Sound. Play along with me!

Why oh why couldn’t RUclips have been around in the 1970’s. I could have been a much better guitar player today. Thank you for your great lessons ❤

Ha! Thanks for that - it's amazing isn't it? How we had to learn back then compared to now? I hope you're having a ton of fun with it and I appreciate you taking the time. Cheers, Shane

Back in the 70's I started guitar lessons and ended up having to give them up because of arthritis. I started playing again about 12 years ago, at 60 I've still got the arthritis but I can at least play for about 20 minutes before I have to take an hour break for my hands. I've been trying hard, but I don't think I'll ever be able to play bar cords 😥

Know what you mean-I started in 1970 and had to learn everything by ear from the vinyl-often it was a reasonable approximation but checking out analysis on you tube 50+ years later its "oh..so thats how you do it"..I had no real understanding of open tunings and you tube has taken all the fear I had about them away.-but yes-I wonder what impact it would have had.
Great lesson and a fabulous tune- live electric version on 24 nights is stupendous.

How have I gone my entire life without ever hearing this song even once?! I had to go listen to it before watching this video, because I swear I've never heard it. Or maybe I just don't remember having heard it, since the acoustic version was released 32 years ago when I was only 22. Anyway -- you play it very similarly to the acoustic version. Excellent! I'll add it to the list of songs I can't play correctly. 😂

I just happened to run across this. There is one thing I do differently ( may not be correct) I play the E7 chord using c7shape on the fifth fret. This set me up better for the walk down on the a chord series. But I love your teaching style and your versions of most songs.
