Henry, Eric is my inspiration for learning guitar also. Glad you do a lot of his songs. Have a poster on my wall from a 2004 tour stop I attended in Denver, Co. Hoping to see him again some day. I seriously considered traveling to one of his recent US tour locations as he skipped Denver this time.
This is my favorite song of all and have played it in public to live audiences. I have forgotten most of it in the interim and it is good to get back to it. I am right now following this and playing this on a Washburn acoustic. jimmy
One of my favs too! Very informative vid. To think that Eric was going to "pack it in" when he was 18 yrs old. Thankfully John Mayall told him to continue on.
love this performance possible as much as you.....I play this LOUD at least once a week. thanks for you breakdown and no , you didn't talk to much or to little .. im a subscriber now and will check this lesson.cheers
There is no drive pedal. His amp is set to 10 - he uses his volume pot on guitar , on 1-2 for clean tones - the more he turns the volume pot up the more overdrive it goes into - plus his 2nd tone pot is an active 25db mid range boost he turns on when needed. He is the most impressive player ive stood 7ft away from and his tone was ridiculously good, with no pedals. Extremely loud too.
Thanks for this video and the other one I've learnt this song from you, and I love this song more than anything, could you please do another lesson on the solo licks, he and you use around that 15th fret to 12th fret and so on...please!!! thanks.
I think good old Eric Clapton has a "thing" with Old Love live performance, it gets better every time. Don't take my word for it, go check Buenos Aires Live, 2011. Clapton is the most prolific musician, as for being a guitar "guru" that goes without saying.
In 10:27 I do not think that the activate an overdrive pedal, I believe and I am convinced that with the little finger, increases the volume of the guitar
One of Eric’s most underrated songs. So good. Great lesson (and analysis).
Co writer fyi Robert Cray.
Why underrated? It's one of his most famous songs
Best ever Clapton.

Saw him in Prague in June and it was amazing. Definetely check him out if you have the time.
Eric at his best. My inspiration for blues guitar, my guitar hero. Thanks for this.
Welcome! Truly amazing. 😄

Clapton is a guitar GOD
He is a hardworking guitar God.
Great Sing i love! Congratulations for amazing tutorial and for your passion for this song
Robert Cray really made this track, the interplay and personal touches between EC and RC made it outstanding.
Great song, and another amazing performance by Dr. Gadd as well
