@@AMEditionYT THX a lot
Thanks alot and i will come to vist ireland next year my be will meet u. Take care
Cool! You'll love Ireland! :)
It is good to mention that in terms of housing that the biggest problem is not only the low supply but the low standard of accommodation. I love Ireland and the Irish people but Dublin has the lowest living standard of all European capitals (yes, including eastern Europe). Awful insulation and mould problems even in expensive houses and apartments (Energy rating D and worse). Many houses have bricks outside but a wooden structure inside with nails instead of screws making the whole structure move and destabilise. Water quality as well is below European standard especially in North Dublin with high lead concentration (20x higher than safe levels). Older houses will have single glass windows. AND what shocked me the most is the healthcare and public transport. Healthcare is expensive (even public one inst completely free) and has awful waiting periods even in the private sector. My irish colleagues would jokingly say: The best thing you can do when you get seriously sick is to go to the airport. Kids with spinal issues wait for years for surgeries and people with strong suspicion for cancer wait months and months. I very much hope for my Irish friends that the healthcare improves in the future and would follow the continental Europe example rather than the US/UK example.
ohh..Lucia! I completely understand everything you said!
I also find that housing prices are exaggerated. A recent trend in Dublin is to charge people for just viewing the house!!! I was SHOCKED!!!
The mold is also a huge problem! I air the whole house every day, keep everything clean and washed, but we still have mold problems .... I'm afraid of people's health here...
About health care, I recently wanted to get a medical card, but because I earn a little bit more than minimum, I'm not eligible for a free medical help.
I usually go to Moldova (the country I'm from) for all my health checks.
Doctors say that the population increases a lot, and the number of doctors stays the same! Huge problem! Terrible for Irish people when they cannot get proper help in their own country :(... luckily we can go back to our countries for healthcare!
Where are you from Lucia? :) Would really love to connect with you on Instagram! :) like the way you critically think! :)
I wanted to make another video talking about the negative aspects of living in Ireland! Thank you for such a clear comment! :)
really? is that bad? but the photos look as if the houses are all nicely renovated and new. I'm from Portugal and the houses here have no insolation
@@floatinqspirit4289 my house is fine and its built in 1939,, houses are energy rated "BER" rated A - G to help you make a better decision.
dont base your finding on accommodation for all of ireland on shitty house shares and crappy landlords Luc.
@@looneyirish007
It is unfortunately statistically noticeable. I am talking about the A BER rating being in a single digit percentage unfortunately. I own a house myself - build by one of the supposedly best developers and the building quality and the errors made are shocking. 😞
thanks so Great video
Thank you 😊❤ I'm happy to be helpful

Dear AM Edition, what is the cost of health care/health insurance in Ireland? In USA, people need to buy insurance for their healthcare. Please share some thoughts on the cost of child birth in Ireland, regular doctor visits, and other necessary medical care. Thank you!

@@seabreeze234 you don't need a work permit if you have a European union passport.
But if you don't than you can get a work permit or a Visa to stay in the country! That's not a problem at all! And you can also find a job. It might be a longer process but many people find jobs!

Wow, that was expensive! Higher than minimun wage! Thats not a life for a student I expect! Well good luck on your journey, tks for sharing
Life in Dublin is pretty expensive, but you can always spend less money than I do. Try to share the room and pay half of what I pay, use public transport which is much cheaper than having a car, spend less on food and clothes! 😊 When I just came to Ireland this is what i was doing. I didn't do any clothes Shopping, bought just the food I needed, used the public transport and that's it, no going out, no pubs or parties. After a while I was able to earn more money and be able to afford more stuff! 😊👍 If you'll get some support at the beginning or have some savings then you will be okay at the beginning, afte that you can learn the culture, the accent, get more skills and find a better job!😊
I heard that Dublin has crazy expensive rent and housing, but 500 Euros is like, 580 USD. 580 USD is like the pre-payment for rent in some cities like Chicago and Seattle.

I moved from Dublin to kildare with my girlfriend, bought a new build house and it's big, 3 bed, 3 bath, our mortgage is 740 a month, in Dublin it would be twice that
Thanks for sharing with us! Looks like you got a really good and affordable price for the house :) great to hear it was doable
After how many years will you pay off your loan ?
@@elmapas5499 35 years we chose. We'll try pay it off sooner though.
This video has nothing to do with the actual avg cost of living in Dublin. 500 on rent? you must be either living with 6 people in the house or you are living with the landlord who ...has a weakness for you as a girl....(that's pretty common). I rent double bedroom for 730 euro and it's a reasonable price (average) for a bedroom outside of the city centre. There are many more that are 800-900 eur or around 1000 in city centre. Add 20-25% to her final calculations and you will get the actual cost of the mentioned spendings.
ahahahahahah... great answer mate, this girl is a little lost on their way of thinking... i bet is the landlord weakness, even 50 euros for couple of pints ahahahah... Such a futile video... she is better of Manchester... there is the city for her needs...
She literally said she lives in a shared house. Pay attention lads.

I went on a tour of Ireland during the summer of 2018, and I loved it! I’m currently about to start my freshman year of college here in America, but they offer a study abroad program and I’m hoping I can somehow weasel my way into Ireland!
This is a tad unrelated, but how friendly would you say Irish citizens are to Americans such as myself?
(And halfway between typing this comment, I was browsing your other videos, and I honestly got so excited when I saw the title “study computer science in Ireland” as that’s the major I plan on taking!!)
Hi! This is amazing! Congratulations and best of luck to you in college!
All people in Ireland are very friendly. I'm sure you'll have no problems at all to adapt in here as everyone is usually very open-minded and welcoming. You'll have a really good experience here.
It would be great if you could check out the differences in speech between American and Irish English as there are some small differences. Will will help you to integrate much easier in the society here! :)
Visit or study and then go back to your own country. You will be welcome but overstay and you will be resented , not trusted or like by many section of Irish society- not all. Best to come enjoy, and then leave. Ana can be the nicest person in the world but you can tell she has very limited experience and interaction with Irish people. Lives in a BUBBLE which is the case for so many foreigners in Ireland. After a while this becomes a problem, or uncomfortable even unpleasant. With covid and the huge economic problems coming , thee is growing hostility or disdain for foreigners. Only really just because there are far too many and when in boom times people don't much care. now it is becoming a bigger and bigger issue, bearing in mind Ireland a very small country. Google for example employs less than 10% Irish people and is typical of a certain trend. Resentment and anger this and the effect it has on the country, society, culture are becoming more pronounced and is most clearly shown in the absurd accommodation costs which is basically all to do with mass immigration and open border policies, which could lead to a revolution or chaos and a very unstable country within 10-20 years. Not a good place to create a family and have a good future for the next couple of decades. Holiday/visit, study for a period and then leave is really the best.
Lucky you visited Ireland in summer 2018, it s been the hottest summer ever. Another visit will squash your good dry memories
I really hope you got to spend your year here and I've never heard such nonsense as you better go dont stay I must tell you that you will be welcome to spend your life here with us that comment from dublintv is his opinion and his alone the rest of us are not as miserable as that honestly such a ridiculous thing to say
Very informative video, what part of dublin do you live in to pay €500 rent? Is this a shared room or single? Im currently paying €700 for non shared in crumlin d12 but its to much.
Hey Adam! I live in Tallaght. If you want some more information about that just contact me on Instagram and we can talk directly! :) I live in a single room. The price for the room is cheaper because there's no bus, tram or shops next to the house. Luckily, I have a car and I don't depend on the public transport. I have rented this room 3 years ago, so it was cheaper then. I'm sure that it would be much more expensive now.

The cities are like most cities but I’ve always felt surrounded by friends (Irish people love to talk to strangers) in the cities that would come to your rescue quickly when needed, even the roughest looking people would. Do you have any idea about how much UCD smurfit graduates earn (CEMS MIM)?
Hey! You can check the average income on google or on their website, but you have to keep in mind that it's only the average and nobody is guaranteed that!
I do not know if ireland pays it workers by hour or by salaries,,but like if your monthly income is let's say €2000 you can save maybe about €500-600 a month .the problem is with housing ,i believe Ireland might have housing for low income and especially students generally and that would make big different

For public transport you can get a student Leap Card and pay less than an ordinary adult person.

It could be a silly question but I’m curious about pest control.
I used to live in NYC for four years and I’m now interested in moving in Dublin in the future. In my first two years in NYC, I spent a lot of time and money for mice and roaches in my apartment though my roommate and I were so tidy (actually we cleaned every single week and we took food garbages to garbage can outside every time we cooked).
Are there a lot of chances that the apartments in Dublin have those creatures and people have to spend money, time, and energy for them?
Hi! It's not a silly question at all. I haven't heard many people talking about this problem and it's not very widespread. I just met one person here who had problems with rats. In this situation the landlord has to provide proper conditions and deals with pests. It shouldn't be your problem. As long as you're paying rent, you should be provided with good and safe living conditions
AM Edition Thanks! That’s sounds great. Actually, when I visited Dublin before, it looked obviously cleaner than NYC. And also Irish people were chiller than people in NYC and in Tokyo. That’s why I wanna live there. I’ll keep checking your videos. Thanks again!
