    Very interesting and informative Julie. I know it’s basic kindergarten info like you said but it’s new to me….a 71 year old kindergartner.🤣😁 Thanks!🥰❤️

    I prepare my own egg tempera. And yes, you should wear a respirator when using dry pigments. I've also collected my own materials and prepared them. Messy, but fun.

    PVA glue, wood glue, wallpaper glue plus food dye, turmeric makes a great yellow.

    Enjoyed the lesson-thank you! A word to the wise...mix enough for the project you plan to use it on-trying to match it later can be way challenging!! Oh, and contain it quickly, especially acrylics. 😁

    Julie, love this video but now a little confused I am wanting to make a pink gold acrylic. Tried several things, but I found mica powders, and was wondering if I could mix it with the paint, or do I need the products you spoke of? Thank you so much for this video!!

      Hey Dotti… You should take a peek at Jaquard dry pigments. We carry them and they are glorious! They come in all kinds of metallics and can be mixed with other color pigments… but so can mica. So, you are good to go either way! Thanks for your question! 😁

    Great video Julie, I sometimes dabble in pastels by Unison, can these be scraped to dust and use as mica powders or pigments? I mix my pastels with alcohol for underpainting and they do liquify. Of course, you cannot touch for bubbles if you use alcohol… 😱. I also dabble in acrylic pours that is why I am asking. Thanks.

    Thank you for a detailed video on how to use different things to create own paint. Do you have any suggestion for what binder to use for making one's own fabric paint with pigments (no acrylics). I am looking to make my own paint for screen printing or block printing purposes. Can you please help?

    I noticed that you used the GAC fabric medium to mix your fluid pigment. I have it, because I’m a fabric artist as well as a painter, so is there a difference between this and the more usual GAG 800 I’ve seen used? Is there any reason for me to purchase the 800 when I can use the 900 for painting on canvas?

    Is there a special binder to mix shimmering mica and be transparent enough to let the mica shine?

    • @Handles-R-Lame
      @Handles-R-Lame 11 месяцев назад

      Add more of the medium, or in your case the binder, to the pigments. So that your overall paint becomes very liquidy in quality. Also it helps if your pigment is naturally transparent so that it doesn't cloudy up your mixes. Im sure most these "rules" apply to mica aswell.
      Hope this helps.

    Ooooo dat fluid ultramarine 😍😍😍😍thanks for this, im trying to figure out how ti make refills for paint pens which is a multi year long endeavor thwt i havrnt mastered,
    it requires extremely thin yet incredibly opaque paint for perfect paint pens, if youve ever tried a posca or Montana paint pen, they have like water thin paint yet its so intensively colored, it never comes through watery or clear, montaña oaint can completely cover up a canvas over any previous art with a single lair,
    but lord help me i cant figure out how they're getting such intense yet solid paint, without it being thick as all hell..and id like to find out, or like krink brand paint pens are acohol based amd go on any surface but its not just regular old alcohol, these paints, any paint pen paints ive ever tried - - recipe locked and ive had no luck on trying to figure out the recipes

      Hello Ernest… not that know of. Alcohol doesn’t have an adhesive quality which is the needed property for a binder.
