ROXcursed no, I'm making good progress. comparing your beginner lifts to a guy who has been lifting for like six years, had some decent coaching at one point and is on kool-aid is not a good idea.
No, because I don't compare myself to Clarence. That would be like comparing myself to Ilya Ilyin or some other elite olympic athlete. Despite technically being an "amateur" right now, Clarence is lifting at a level that is very rare, and meant for high level competition (whether he wants to compete or not). So I just view him as another of the elite pro lifters on RUclips.
ROXcursed, I just finished a four week training cycle of 5, 3, 1(Wendler system) in preparation for a powerlifting contest this spring. I have three more four week cycles before the contest. I am making good gains, and felt good about myself until yesterday. That's when I saw a video of a 21yr old who weighs 205lbs dead lifting 675lbs for seven reps without wrist straps or a belt. He reset after every pull. It honest to God made me question if there's even a point to continue training. So fucking humbling.
Koenma I've always wondered that tbh. How hard can an olympic lifter like clarence kick or hit. And how would he fare in wrestling ? he's like an immovable object.
Next month bowing 747 squat and in a year he'll be benching the titanic. I'n 1000 years he'll be benching the sun to warm up. Than in 1 billion years his power levels will be way over 9000 and the universe will have another Big Bang theory.
This guy's a lifter? His real name is Clarence! Clarence parents have real good genetics, and they gave him an insane work ethic. Makes other lifters look downright pathetic...
I am sorry but any fucker that is still talking about "squat depth" cannot even begin to comprehend and appreciate the feats they are witnessing from clarence. Absolute beginners.
ODIW You don't have a point - "cannot even begin to comprehend and appreciate the feats..." is utter nonsense designed to elevate yourself, and probably taken from something you read elsewhere. And an absolute beginner doesn't have a 180kg squat, or a 240kg deadlift either. The hilarious thing is you coming onto RUclips and expressing yourself in a way that is almost certainly totally different to how you do so in real life - and coming across as a total knob as a result :-).
I love it how Clarence blows the majority of lifters out of the water, yet he is still humble and doesn't give a fuk. Just basic videos, no intro, raw footage...fucking unreal man..
I’ve been in the lifting game for over 30 years. I’ve never seen anyone squat like that with such a long pause really deep in the hole like that. That was very impressive. Also amazing form and explosiveness in those power cleans. That kid is legit!
Clarence I literally have one single dream in my life that I want to achieve and that is to lay down on the platform and have my face receive the 190 kilograms when you snatch it successfully for the first time.
Clarence. You are truly an inspiration. I hope everything in your life is going well! I hope to start weightlifting again soon. Thanks again for the endless motivation!
Sup, brother. been following you for a long time. I have some questions I'd love for you to answer if you do another FAQ: - Could you tell us more about your diet? How do you make large meals (presumably around 3000-3500 calories a day) off mostly grains and legumes? What do you tend to eat for meals? - What exercises do you do aside from Olympic Lifts and bench pressing on your day-to-day workouts? - What do you do for a living? (if you don't mind me asking) - Did you get a coach early on to teach you Olympic weightlifting? Costly? - Will ya come to England (only across the Irish sea!) and train with me, lad?! - Any targets for 2017? Thanks. Take care, man, you're a lifting inspiration.
holy moly I thought to myself "man I wish clarence would upload a video again soon" and then I open a youtube tab to receive this blessing. you never fail me m'lord
In the squat at 1:00, are you pulling the bar over your back much ? How important is this queue for high bar squatting ? Because ive felt like it's had a slightly negative impact on my squat, and upper back tightness. Btw, it seems the turbo flutter sound you made on the way up gave you the extra boost, im definitely gonna try that out !! Thanks man
Whats with the dumb comments? Are twenty year olds messed up? At 44 im watching Clarence, thats world class power. If people dont have something relevant to say, how about not speak?
I don't want assume anything here, but I think it's his unwillingness to compete, that keeps his pathways open. What a legend. I'm inspired by this man, as much as the mythological Yiannis Kouros, who (although he did compete back in his day) would run unearthly distances in his 'spare time'.
I was fine with your Olympic lifts, sure they’re unbelievable but that’s your thing. But now I see this bench at your body weight and I have to chock it up to unseen forces. Fantastic work
Can you give a quick tip on how you progress on your lifts. I mean assistance work or workout plan. Your progression is insane!!!!! Just the mainlifts or assistance work. You're the man!!and vegan!!!!!!thumbs up
The whole video is mind boggling but to me the speed of that power clean + push jerk warm up set at 100kg is the most incredible. Most of us can train strength and push our numbers up, but that speed is what separates and olympian from a very athletic, well-trained human. I could spend the rest of my years training speed and never move that fast with even half the weight, even though my top weights are quite respectable.
Clarence in your next q&a (or even in this comment) can you discuss your thoughts/feelings going on when you squat? You really use your hips/hamstrings/glutes so damn well and it's something I struggle with. Thanks in advance.
How do you keep your lower back so straight when you do ATG squats? Do you credit ab strength for that or anatomy, or what? I, for the life of me cannot keep my back straight when doing high bar ATG squats and I don't want a one way ticket to the fabled Snap City
A little butt wink is ok and if it doesn't create any pain then you're good. If it hurts you need to do some mobility training for your hips or ankles. Alan thrall and omarisof have made good videos on this. Check their channels out.
Your mobility probably sucks, you probably don't have enough heel height, and your technique probably sucks. And you probably haven't been squatting for 10 years or however long Clarence has.
Hey Clarence, great video as usual. Looking even bigger as well. I wanted to ask you how much sleep you get per day on average and if your sleeping habits are regular or irregular - do you sleep a normal 7-8 hours every night, or 5-6 hours one day and 10 another? Personally, I believe sleep to be a huge factor for recovery and performance but sometimes I feel like I need a couple extra hours throughout the day to get everything I want to accomplish finished.
Hi Clarence, I can see you are struggling to lift heavy weights. Might I suggest deloading to the bar and using a smith machine to work on form? I’m a certified trainer at planet fitness and have helped many clients on their fitness journey. Personally, I don’t lift heavy weights due to the risk of injury and prefer to stick to healthier, more effective exercises like Pilates and yoga.

Am I a wizard?
Clarence could be an Irish tourist attraction by himself
could be? he IS one
He is bruh
I've just traveled to Cork like a month ago. Apparently, I've wasted my trip on useless things, like my work and basic sightseeing
Does anyone else feel like they're making progress and then Clarence uploads a video and you realise your life is a joke?
Everyone else feels that way

Hahahahahahaha so true
An OLY lifter that can bench like a competitive power lifter. What's next, a 2 hour marathon?
boxing like mike tyson
Koenma I've always wondered that tbh. How hard can an olympic lifter like clarence kick or hit. And how would he fare in wrestling ? he's like an immovable object.
Özkan D'hont not much they gotta learn the technique, maybe they can pack a punch since its more natural but kicking or grappling hell no
Clarence can probably kick really good because of his years of tricking tbh
E a 2 hour marathon of roid injections
Clarence: Part Subaru. Part forklift.
Ben Dover them how come he sounds like a turbo spooling when he inhales
@Adi Jumbo half asian
Next week: Semi-truck snatch and clean warm up w/ Cruise ship PR
Kevin Saxton yes!

The speed on that 180kg and 190kg bench is insane.
ikr, the explosive power is off the charts
When he got into position to deadlift 100kg, I thought: only 100kg? Then he cleaned it twice in 5 pico seconds...
TheMakersRage he makes 100 kg seem so light

Whenever i feel strong i just watch some of Clarence's Videos so i can bring myself back to earth
Looks like skynets finally build the t800
Clarence's squat game is unreal. Some serious depth there aswell.
Andrew Daniel That bench was insane as well. Close grip and paused.
I am sorry but any fucker that is still talking about "squat depth" cannot even begin to comprehend and appreciate the feats they are witnessing from clarence. Absolute beginners.
ODIW I'm so sorry, seriously I apologise profusely. Perhaps I can give you some money so you can pin another Clarence poster onto your ceiling?
Andrew Daniel
My point is proven. I just found it hilarious you thought your opinion carried enough value that you felt the need to share it.
ODIW You don't have a point - "cannot even begin to comprehend and appreciate the feats..." is utter nonsense designed to elevate yourself, and probably taken from something you read elsewhere. should I just give up or try harder?
Try harder. Use this as motivation, even though its a double edged sword.
give up bro #soloque
Inject harder
Play less WoW do more ATG pause squats
@Pybro This guy knows what's up
I am loving the more frequent uploads.
I’ve been in the lifting game for over 30 years. I’ve never seen anyone squat like that with such a long pause really deep in the hole like that. That was very impressive. Also amazing form and explosiveness in those power cleans. That kid is legit!
He cleans my max squat like its an empty bar :-0
Clarence I literally have one single dream in my life that I want to achieve and that is to lay down on the platform and have my face receive the 190 kilograms when you snatch it successfully for the first time.
That combination of strength and speed is insane
well it's the same thing

Clarence: Can 2 people assist me?
2 people: *proceed to stand at both sides of the bar*
Clarence: No I only need you to film me ofcourse.
you are a huge inspiration Clarence
Amazing, so amazing the entire gym stopped their routines to witness the greatness!
I hate when people compare Clarence to God. I mean, he is great and all, but he's no Clarence.
That's fucking good
Not gonna lie but you had me in the first half.
That form on the clean is fucking majestic . Glad to see someone actually not ego lifting massive weight with their lower back halfway to snap city.
Looked like a close grip bench too!
