      ROXcursed no, I'm making good progress. comparing your beginner lifts to a guy who has been lifting for like six years, had some decent coaching at one point and is on kool-aid is not a good idea.

    • @samr7542
      @samr7542 7 лет назад +50

      No, because I don't compare myself to Clarence. That would be like comparing myself to Ilya Ilyin or some other elite olympic athlete. Despite technically being an "amateur" right now, Clarence is lifting at a level that is very rare, and meant for high level competition (whether he wants to compete or not). So I just view him as another of the elite pro lifters on RUclips.

    • @jackwallace6592
      @jackwallace6592 7 лет назад +23

      ROXcursed, I just finished a four week training cycle of 5, 3, 1(Wendler system) in preparation for a powerlifting contest this spring. I have three more four week cycles before the contest. I am making good gains, and felt good about myself until yesterday. That's when I saw a video of a 21yr old who weighs 205lbs dead lifting 675lbs for seven reps without wrist straps or a belt. He reset after every pull. It honest to God made me question if there's even a point to continue training. So fucking humbling.

    • @andrewhezekiahdaniel
      @andrewhezekiahdaniel 7 лет назад +52

      ODIW You don't have a point - "cannot even begin to comprehend and appreciate the feats..." is utter nonsense designed to elevate yourself, and probably taken from something you read elsewhere. And an absolute beginner doesn't have a 180kg squat, or a 240kg deadlift either. The hilarious thing is you coming onto RUclips and expressing yourself in a way that is almost certainly totally different to how you do so in real life - and coming across as a total knob as a result :-).

    Sup, brother. been following you for a long time. I have some questions I'd love for you to answer if you do another FAQ:
    - Could you tell us more about your diet? How do you make large meals (presumably around 3000-3500 calories a day) off mostly grains and legumes? What do you tend to eat for meals?
    - What exercises do you do aside from Olympic Lifts and bench pressing on your day-to-day workouts?
    - What do you do for a living? (if you don't mind me asking)
    - Did you get a coach early on to teach you Olympic weightlifting? Costly?
    - Will ya come to England (only across the Irish sea!) and train with me, lad?!
    - Any targets for 2017?
    Thanks.
    Take care, man, you're a lifting inspiration.

    The whole video is mind boggling but to me the speed of that power clean + push jerk warm up set at 100kg is the most incredible. Most of us can train strength and push our numbers up, but that speed is what separates and olympian from a very athletic, well-trained human. I could spend the rest of my years training speed and never move that fast with even half the weight, even though my top weights are quite respectable.

    Hi Clarence! What is your opinion on people filming you everytime you lift really heavy?
    Do you like it, or is it annoying?.
    Much love from Sweden!

    Hey Clarence, great video as usual. Looking even bigger as well. I wanted to ask you how much sleep you get per day on average and if your sleeping habits are regular or irregular - do you sleep a normal 7-8 hours every night, or 5-6 hours one day and 10 another? Personally, I believe sleep to be a huge factor for recovery and performance but sometimes I feel like I need a couple extra hours throughout the day to get everything I want to accomplish finished.

    Hi Clarence, I can see you are struggling to lift heavy weights. Might I suggest deloading to the bar and using a smith machine to work on form? I’m a certified trainer at planet fitness and have helped many clients on their fitness journey. Personally, I don’t lift heavy weights due to the risk of injury and prefer to stick to healthier, more effective exercises like Pilates and yoga.
