So my sister is a super talented wedding videographer and made a couple good points you should read: She said that most videographers have it in their contract that they are the only videographers to be there on the day. Make sure to check that, and a better idea is to contact other wedding videographers and to try get some “second shooter” experience under them. Thanks Jo! Thank you for all the videos!! Because of your amazing videos to show the quality of this camera, I finally bought the ZV E10 for myself, it was a great decision 😆 I'm glad that I watched your videos!! I live in Ireland, gonna take loads of great photos here!!
I shot a wedding with my zve-10 and had zero struggles, but I guess it is just the lack of never experiencing the work with a better camera. I was running the set-up with an alpha 6400 to be safe and the results were perfect so far. But I totally get your points. In the end I would never minding a limit because of my gear. Of course there is some. I am really scared about color grading 8-Bit footage, and when I search for the best way, every guy thinks different about it.
I didn’t have any problems with mine either, but I have had a card die before, and it’s scary when there’s no backup lol. These clips is about as hard of a color grade as I could put on 8bit, even then you can see some artifacting. My technique is trial and error, plenty of practice etc. I’ve learned from a couple RUclips videos but just giving it a go and playing with all the controls to see what they do is the best place to start in my opinion, helps you build your own style
I filmed my first wedding with a ZVE10 and zv1 as my backup I did it for free and got a $500 tip. Fast forward till today and now I own two Panasonic s5ii and charge money for weddings films
Hi Thomas, First of all a great video to showcase the greatness of ZVE10. I'm from India and currently into shooting reels, interviews and podcasts for my social media company, this will also involve some product shoots for clothing brands as well. So would you suggest ZVE10 or A6700 for it. Let me be honest, since we have quick deadlines too much of color grading won't be done on the footages and everything would be shot indoors with proper lighting. Thank you
Hej from Sweden and thanks for a bit of a bubble bursting video (needed). I wonder if you would make a video of your workflow with HLG. I find it difficult to nail exposure, which is such a fundamental part! Would be great to learn some more
Great video. Lovely to see what footage out of the ZV-E10 can look like in the hands of someone who really knows what they're doing. Just a quick question, is HLG3 your go to profile with this camera and if so, why? Thanks
Thank you! Yeah i find it color grades nicer than slog for me. It may just be how I grade, but the slog footage in 8bit falls apart for me. I tend to do relatively heavy color grades though, and probably don’t do it right lol, i tend to just grade by eye. I’m sure you could get great footage using slog
appreciate this is an old video now! I have seen they have released a mk 2 of this. I am looking for a C camera for my wedding kit. I currently have FX3 and A7sIII as my A and B, I need something to just sit on a tripod at the back of the room to film the ceremony and speeches. 4k25 is all I need. I feel like this could do the job and it's really well priced? What do you think? I also looked at a full frame camera like the A7IV or even something like an FX30 but I just feel like if all it will ever do is be a wide camera, is it worth spending lots on? Thank you!!
The trouble with a zve10 for something like that is battery life. Sure with a good lens and a decent grade it can look great, even for 8bit footage. But I’d worry at a wedding that the battery wouldn’t last the whole ceremony. In the end it’s up to you and your financial decision, if you make enough with your cameras to justify spending more then sure. If not then don’t spend unnecessarily. I have to say that the fx30 is a fantastic camera, but yeah it’s a fair bit more expensive
In my experience the battery goes somewhere near 1:20 hours. I have recorded much longer events on a tripod and also handheld with a very long USB cable connected to a power bank on my belt. You have to consider the hassle of having an extra cable running but you will definitely run out of space on your card before the battery dies this way
i planning to do upgrade from 250d as it’s a low quality video camera. 9’focus points and the 4k is useless. but i have 15 wedding booked for this year avg £600 so yeah it’s time for it
My brother if I can give you any advice, it would be in your best interest to keep hand held shots to a minimum. You had quite a few beautiful shots that would have been projected better on a monopod or on a gimbal. My second thought was I noticed quite a few shots were extremely grainy. This should not be the case even with the Sony zv-e1. it almost looked like you were using the camera to its limits unnecessarily.. The camera is capable of much more with proper lighting. I'd be more than happy to speak with you if you have any questions. Hope this wasn't taken in the wrong way. Ive been in the game for almost 20 years and was hopefully only giving constructive criticism . All the best to you!
So the zve10 footage from this wedding was not my primary footage, we used monopods and had plenty of other footage that were used for the client from fx30’s As for handheld vs gimbal, personally I often enjoy handheld footage for the kind of shots I wanted the B-Cam to capture, the more raw, in the moment style of shot. We do have gimbals and monopods etc which we used for the other cameras, but gimbal/static isn’t always better than handheld. It depends on what style you want to capture As for the grainy footage, a couple things. Most of the indoor shots were captured by a second shooter, the bride prep shots with the zve10 were captured with incorrect settings which caused more grain as they accidentally were filming at f4 (but you get what you get) the shots in the evening that are more grainy were in a very poorly lit environment and the zve10 struggled (in your comment you said zv-e1, not sure if you meant zv-e10 or thought I used the e1 which would be much better in low light). And yes I very much did push the camera to its limits with a heavier color grade, which in most shots that were captured in better lighting were very usable (and were used). Other shots it starts to fall apart due to the low light and 8bit quality footage.
The indoor footage locations had some real rough lighting, and my second shooter had some setting errors when filming the girls. But you use what you get at the end of the day
@tanner.quintero it depends on the camera, always worth getting more as cards than you think you need. Thankfully most sd cards are super cheap compared to what they used to be
@@thomasjmcclure thanks, yeah I’m thinking of waiting to get the zve10 mark ii, rumoured to have 10bit recording and 26mp sensor I’m assuming it’s from the fx30.
With 8bit codecs I find the slog footage falls apart more easily than HLG. I just find it easier to grade. But on the fx30 and a6700 slog 3 is wonderful
Why'd you use this over your a6700 for the wedding? great footage, but it's kind of obvious that the footage could've been way better for their special day
As I said, the zve10 wasn’t the main camera, I had someone else using it most of the time to gather footage to use for the review of those cinema lenses. The video the clients received was largely made up of footage from my fx30, with some of the zve10 clips thrown in when they were up to quality. I only included the zve10 clips in this video though to show what you could get if you used that. So the overall video that they got was different. Hope that makes sense

For someone with a sub $1,000 budget looking to shoot weddings I’d recommend a used GH5.
GH5 is a great camera, that’s what we used back in Ireland for the longest time

Also in my experience shooting in 60fps at 50mbps super35 produces a way way better image than 120fps at 100mbps
hey..im fr9m the Philippines and I use 2 ZV E10 for pro work for 2 years now and everythinfg is fine..i
still indoor footage has noise on shadow area
The indoor footage locations had some real rough lighting, and my second shooter had some setting errors when filming the girls. But you use what you get at the end of the day
How about the a6700? Also.. how much memory do u need for sonething like a wedding? 256? 512? More?
How did you find colorgrading and color matching between the two? I’m looking at picking up the for B cam zve10 and A cam fx30
@@ProjectLabzwhen the lenses match it’s easier to match the footage. But not as easy as an fx30 and an a6700 would be, they make a perfect pair
