My first comment on RUclips EVER!! But I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated this video. I've watch 10 or more and they either go too fast or don't answer the most common questions. Good job!! And thank you
omg, i have searched for so long for someone to show me how to do the draw and cut. So many videos on "print" then cut, which I did not want. Thank you for explaining exactly what I needed. Finally! Great tutorial!!!! Thanks a bunch :)
Thank you for making this video. Many tutorials act like the watcher has previous knowledge of where all the buttons and settings are. I appreciate that you took the time to tell me where to find the adjustments and buttons to select. Happy New Year!
omg.... thank you for making this tutorial. It broke everything down for me in a way that I could understand. Thank you again and I will definitely be looking for your videos next time I need to do something.
Thank you! this video helped me out a whole let those other video had me like WTF you showed every step of the way on how to make name tags once again my friend thank you so so much FYI im new to cricut
TY.... I went thru so many videos wanting to learn how to draw a sticker :) since I don't have ink atm to print a sticker!!! Also I subscribed to Creative Housewives!
Very well explained. Thank you! Question: Wouldn't the hole for your ribbon have been cut by attaching the 2 circles instead of using the slice feature? Could you use either method?
Hi Nina! Thanks! Our favorite way to take any material off of a mat is to flip the mat over and pull the mat away from the material. We'll make sure and do a video soon!
Thanks, and how can I do this, when I have a card with multiples colors to cut and one pen writing? I can‘t attach all the different colors. But I don‘t want to move everything again But it‘s very impotant that the written text is exactly on the right place. Thanks for helping me.
There is no way to cut multiple colors all at once keeping in the same place on one mat. You’ll want to select all of one color and attach it and then move through the colors. That will at least keep each color aligned.
Great tutorial! What material did you use for the tag? I tried to make a label on vinyl, but the pen just smeared and made a mess. I tried the pen that came with my Joy and a black glitter gel pen. Can you not use vinyl when writing? Thank you!
I was using cardstock. If you're using vinyl you want to make sure you're using writable vinyl. For the Cricut Joy they have it as a smart vinyl option and it works great. I have tested it many times and the pen dries immediately on it. I think regular vinyl is just too glossy of a surface.
I think it would be hard depending on how detailed you wanted the cut out to be. You could try using the snapmat feature or scanning the image and uploading it into Design Space and adding an offset there and seeing if you can get them to line up with snapmat.
I'm so sorry for the delay in response. If you haven't already figured it out here you go. If you're in the edit toolbar you should see a section that says "operation" (it may say Basic Cut, or Pen above it). When you click on that at the top of that screen it will say "Operation" and right below that you can click to change it from a basic cut, to draw, or even print then cut.
I have an Explore Air 2. When I type in a text box, the option under ‘operation’ I have to choose is ‘pen’, then under ‘style’ the only option I’m given is ‘regular’. Since I can’t choose ‘writing’ I’m still just getting an outline of each letter. Now what???
@@CreativeHousewives thank you so much for replying! That was the problem! Your video is amazingly clear and precise. I have learned to use my cricut now after two years of being overwhelmed and being afraid to even try. Thank you thank you!!!
Hello - I am new subscriber. I just bought the new cricut machine. I am a designer and just posted new designs on my Etsy page and wanted to offer Christmas Gigt tags that are already done and cut out for the customer. Is there a way I can bring my design into cricut design space software and just cut on the machine? Need all the help I can get. Please let me know or if there is another way to contact you. :-) Thank you so much.
It’s right at the beginning of the video. About 1 minute in. It’s adding the 2nd circle and slicing it from the larger circle. The machine will see that as a cut line and cut it out.
Hey, I don't understand how to cut out the project. We can't find the cut option, we have the pen selected, but can't figure out how to do cut and print
I am so frustrated, no matter how hard I try, my project keeps showing up as two mats or as a print and cut and not a draw and cut. What am I doing wrong?
Did you attach the two layers? As long as your writing is set as a pen layer and not a cut layer the color should not change when you attach them and then they should show up on one mat and show you that it's going to draw first and then cut.
I did miss the step to attach them... finally found out what I've been doing wrong after about 5 hours of trying and finding video's on how to do it... thanks@@CreativeHousewives
@@calvinyvonnehiggins2535 This would be a print then cut image. You would upload the drawing and then upload it as a print then cut image. You cannot draw in Design Space.
If you uploaded it as a cut image you can change the line type to draw instead of cut. You would likely need to add an offset or shape behind it or something otherwise it won't have anything to cut.
Thank you I have searched high and low for a video like this.
You're welcome! Hopefully, soon this video will move up so people can find it faster!
Extremely helpful. I don't have time to look at the cricut videos, only as I need the service and this was precise. Thank you.

When I initially create my circle, it won’t give me the option to slice. Any other ideas on how to get mine to cut?
You need to select 2 and only 2 layers for slice to show up. Make sure you have both shapes selected in your layers panel.
I have an explore air 2 and just recently I updated on my iPad and now I can’t get back into draw do you know what I can do.

You need to make sure you’re choosing a font that has a writing type. Not all fonts have one. I hope this helps!

Hey, I don't understand how to cut out the project. We can't find the cut option, we have the pen selected, but can't figure out how to do cut and print
You have to add a shape to the background for the machine to have something to cut!
When I do this my cut ends up being off, and cutting the lettering. Do you have any tips?
Did you attach the writing to the cut layer?
This was great! Thanks!
So glad you found it helpful. You’re very welcome and thanks for being here!
For some reason my cricut maker won’t cut after drawing. I do have circle set to cut. Any ideas?
Hum. Can you email me a photo of your layers panel? - jenn@creativehousewives.com - thanks!
When I attach and try to print it, it wants me print with my printer, not with the pens and the Style button only gives me the "Regular" option.
Did you flatten the image? You need to choose a pen, there should be no printing involved.
Can you use sticker paper?
You can, just be careful. Sticker paper is thick and usually needs to be able to be fed from the back of the machine so it doesn't get stuck.

How do we draw and cut uploaded images?

@@calvinyvonnehiggins2535 This would be a print then cut image. You would upload the drawing and then upload it as a print then cut image. You cannot draw in Design Space.
