    You have the patience of Job, recapping cassette decks of this caliber isn't for the faint of heart.

    I have done one of these and the fault was the auto cal which took a while to fix

    Would recommend replacing tantalums too

      @@hifirulezzz yes they are very time consuming decks to recap and optimise. But I’m sure you will be delighted when you hear it

    Are those SHOEI Caps realy all bad or have you replaced all as a precaution ?

      Check part I and part II of the restoration video. The deck could barely produce sound. 45 years is enough for any cap.

      @@hifirulezzz Yes 45 years is a lot of time..
      I have a Nakamichi 582 that "sleeps" here some years. It runs last time in 2012 with very good sound but the recording function failed(no sound on tape). It is also full with many same caps like in your 700zxl.(blue SHOEI and the orange ones) I think today they all want to be replaced too.....damn^^
