As noted in a recent House Homeland Security Committee hearing, more than 1,500 people per week die from taking some form of opioids, representing an all-time high.
In FY21, there were over 70,600 fentanyl-related overdose deaths in the United States, compared to around 40,000 in FY19.[36] In addition, pediatric deaths from fentanyl were 30 times higher in 2021 than they were in 2013 nationwide.

For the record, polling accurately anticipated the 2022 midterms. It showed, correctly, that Democrats were doing better than an incumbent party usually does during a midterm and that Republicans were paying a price for nominating lunatics. But so far they do not show that this year.
