I live in N. NV about 150 miles from Yosemite in the Lake Tahoe area. For half of EVERY summer for the last decade, our air is so full of smoke I can't see the Tahoe mountains only a mile away, EVERY summer. Last summer all of South Lake Tahoe, where I lived for 35 years, had to be evacuated. Europe's fires are even worse. And yet, America spends most of its discretionary spending on wars for nothing more than war profiteering on behalf of our war profiteers while NBC censors all anti-war voices. Amazing.
We've become a head in the sand society that's taking backward steps and repeating the same destructive mistakes that we've made in the past. Mankind is its own worst enemy.
Yup and the year after they got rid of timber companies these fires started but it's all a coincidence right...
America is broke beyond broke, which is why the national debt is 30.57 trillion. The money being spent on foreign wars is not just lying around. It's being printed, which is why the nation is now in a recession. California has poor land management and poor water management and built new communities in dangerous area's.

Check out the almost unlimited military budget. There is always corporation when the senate or house needs another raise. How is it that the problem with public health care has problems despite public need and private healthcare profits. When you have zero forestry management processes in place this happens. And it has happened every summer since California stopped managing their forests.

One thing I genuinely don't understand as a Brit is why you guys in the states build homes out of wood with the amount of fires and tornadoes you get there? In the UK we build them with bricks and they are a whole lot sturdier and less likely to catch fire. Is it because of the heat over there if that's the case you have good air conditioning?

I'd love a solid brick home. I have a half-brick facade, and I love the way it looks. But the rest of the house was built as cheaply as possible. It was built in 1972, so wood was a lot cheaper then. ;)

Absolutely correct. For decades the Loomis Forest in Okanogan County was logged (managed) and brought income and classroom support to the Tonasket school district. About 20 years ago, a group of environmentalists purchased the 11 million acres of productive forest land and let it go wild (no management). Today, it burns regularly every summer, and instead of being a productive forest, is bug infested, dangerous and deadly to live by. This climate change nonsense was produced intentionally by lousy forestry management. Log it, graze it, or watch it burn.
@@adriennedouke1880 in Michigan our dnr have daily burns. Every now and then one gets out of control but they do a great job. Our jack pine release seeds when set on fire so it's quick to regrow. Rinse and repeat.
The Sierra Nevada mountains are nearly fully owned by National Parks and National Forests. There's Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon National Parks, plus 22 national forests in California... and BLM land too. California has no control over those federal areas, that's all the responsibility of the USFS and NPS.
We need a national response force just to handle wire fires on the level of the other military forces. We could have a force of hundreds of water aircraft tankers and thousands of quick response fire fighters. California has a fire response unit but is wolfully undersized.
Why make it a national problem when it's California's problem?

When paradise burned to the grown. My son In law was at the fire academy in butte about 20 miles away. He said they constantly got shut down when trying to get area cleared and back burned. State wouldn't let them do thier jobs

12000 acres is 18.75 square miles. Yosemite is 1,169 Square miles. California is 163,696 square miles. The temperature in Yosemite Valley is 88 degrees Fahrenheit. So why is the entire state shown in red on the map.

What make the spark are what cause the fire. Not only from the grinding of the dried branches of brushes by the wind, but also many things with the sunlight causing the sparks to burn the dried woods or grass.
Why the climate change claimed but several states in mid West that have higher temperature than CA dont have wild fire.
