These homes were built far before the wild fires started becoming the problem it is today. Just a few years ago, these types of wild fires were once every couple of years. Now, it's over a dozen of these fires every year that burn hundreds of thousands of acres in a single fire.

California loves nature too much and because of that you need to have man-made water vaults underground and an Industrial sprinkler system above ground.
Each time it rains the water runoff feeds the volts and whenever there's a fire the spring industrial sprinkler system will chant down the fire with water from the underground tanks.
To see the type of Tanks I'm talking about do a RUclips search for flood water storage tanks in Tokyo Japan

Controlled burns get rid of dry underbrush and reduce the likelihood of catastrophic forest fired. California forests are primed tinderboxes waiting for a spark. Yes, controlled burns cause carbon emissions, but nowhere near the levels that occur with these wildfires.
California is too focused on having minimal carbon emissions on the books (controlled burns would be logged, since they are planned). They ignore the threat if they won't be blamed for it. They'll blame it on climate change, but - while it is a factor - it is not the major contributing force. Forestland mismanagement is. If you are a California resident, vote in someone whose action plan is to manage the dry and dead trees/undergrowth. THAT will reduce the severity of these fires.

The total cost of doing prescribed burns is $16 million dollars, which is a rounding error on California's economy. Compared to the nearly $150 billion that the US economy lost in the 2018 fires, I'd say the benefit far exceeds the cost.

For years now we have ever growing and extensive fire seasons. It's on a scale we've never seen before and it's year after year. Each new year worst than the last. We can't sustain this out west forever. Our reservoirs are disappearing, the heat is unrelenting, farms are shutting down. The list is never ending. I don't have any answers. 50% of us want change and 50% want to keep the status quo . I live in California and every state we share a border with is on fire. I't just seems really bleak.

@@toddstewart9922 Well then you would know that Yosemite National Park, where the Oak Fire is happening, is owned by the feds and the state of California has nothing to do with it. That, and controlled/prescribed burns are difficult and extremely dangerous during a drought, made worse by climate change bringing longer, hotter summers and shorter, warmer winters. You'd also know that the Oak Fire is the one fire this year that truly got out of control, whereas over 90% of all the fires that did get started (and we've had a lot) have been promptly contained by our fire fighters, who've been given boosts in funding and additional resources to fight these fires.
See, here in California who find the right solution to the right problem. Unlike y'all over in the Ozarks (and red states in general) who think jailing brown babies and forcing 10-year olds to carry their rapist's baby will solve your stupid problems.
