These people can be helped easily, all they need to do is accept a simple gift from china 🤣. Acknowledge that Taiwan does not exist and China will be there tomorrow to build dams and gift clean water for all. Just look at the African and South American nations that have accepted the hand of friendship form China, mass infrastructure built for them 😆.

Upon arriving home from outdoor excursions and turning on a faucet, I realize how wasteful we really are such as washing cars with potable water! (That's how I wash my vehicles, but have reclaimed wine barrels to collect water).
We are Gigantic Consumers and modern industry feeding this monster has created a perilous atmospheric situation in which scientists have been promulgating for decades. Water may travel miles underground. If we keep using up that water and it dries up, what then? Plus, the ground then becomes unstable, sink holes and roadways etc may be undermined. Pools, toilets, showers, lawns. Problem is most of the water goes through sewer pipes, so it is not getting re-absorbed into the ground. So now dry/scortched earth, then the fires start..... we are over populating the earth and the earth is being destroyed by all our houses, roads, malls, industrial parks, etc. No more surface area to get water into ground. No trees to clean air n water supplies. Yup, we are killing our own habitat.

Your last sentence perfectly illustrates the fundamental disconnect I have found with religious friends on this issue: you see the problem, you understand the gravity of climate change, but, no matter how bad it gets, in the back of your mind you expect an external force to intervene on our behalf. That alarms me because I see it becoming a subconscious “test of faith” and an incentive toward inaction.
I am not accusing you, you’re probably a better environmental steward than me. But I have to think this is a big reason why we haven’t collectively overcome the social inertia to address the problem.

I grew up in Australia during one of the worst national droughts that lasted from the late 90's well into the mid to late 2000s, in some regions well into the 2010s.
During that time, you certainly realize how much we took water for granted, as there were gradually heavier and heavier water restrictions put in place. No watering lawns, at later stages that also covered gardens. Sprinklers were banned. Couldn't top up your pool, or replace the water. Could only wash your car between 4pm - 7am. Eventually that became 7pm to 7am and only with a bucket. Showers were limited to about 3 minutes. Baths were strongly advised against. (Though some people still had them). People who used water passed the recommended allowance had multiplers or penalties added to their water bills.
Eventually, measures were put in place to reduce high levels of water consumption. Including the mandatory installation of rainwater tanks in all new houses, toilets that had only half flushes and drew its sources from recycled water. Among others

Okay I get people are trying to be nice but stop saying pray for Mexico so how about we do something to _really_ help. I live in Canada and we have a lot of water but that's irrelevant - come what may with climate change- quite frankly all of North America really needs to come together on this because this issue is going to become more and more extreme in the coming years and we can't handle it (Mexico, US, & Canada)-well we could but we're better prepared to handle it together.
Looking at the entire continent as a single hydrological system as it is an actual nature rather than the b******* of political boundaries you can actually come up with a much more sustainable plan and not to mention all three of us depend on one another for our survival and our prosperity. It is a good idea to come up with some way to make sure that we can actually ensure Water Supplies to our Farmers to our citizens wherever they may be. One day we may have a water surplus when you guys have a drought but also of the reverse is true. Coming together for an equitable solution is a very good idea.
Also it seems like climate change has created such an exaggerated cyclical, extreme wet-dry water with ever increasingly severe extremes of drought & flood. Creating an integrated water transportation and distributien system of being able to redirect huge volumes of water north or south, east and west on this continent would be a very useful tool in the future. It also gives us the potential to change what would be a problem into a solution in the future where floodwaters could be redirected to drought-stricken areas offsetting their lossed percipitation.

I dont think a water system like that exists anywhere, not in volume or distance, on earth. I mean, we put people on the moon and split the atom so if we really wanted to we could. It would pose many legal challenges, you would have to run the system across the land of millions of Americans not to mention the devastation if something went wrong with all that water pressure in the system, farmlands gone, whole towns swept away. I cant imagine it would be possible to run on some kinda 'natural' system like attempting to artificially create the worlds strongest river running half way across the country.
