I bought one of my favorite books at the airport, once. Probably never would have stumbled across it otherwise-'cause I was suuperr deeepp in my Fantasy era, at that time, and never really went into the contemporary / crime / thriller / drama type fiction sections of book stores[ unless you count urban fantasy and/or those more sleuthy paranormal detective types and such] but the airport shop had this particular novel out front-and-center on a big new releases display or something that was impossible to miss! 😊 (It was one of the Rizzoli & Isles books, and it stuck with me so well that I instantly thought of the characters from the book later on when the tv series started up even though I'd completely forgotten their names were Rizzoli & Isles and didn't know until after I started watching it that the tv series was actually based on those same exact books!😂😂 It was probably the first time that I'd personally encountered a female character in the lead role in that particular kind of fiction, so I may have been exceptionally biased in favor of liking it[ I dunno], I should really reread it someday and see how well I still like it or not[ especially since I always meant to try picking up the rest of the books in that particular series]; I grew up watching crime / action type films with my dad and uncle, and often imagined myself growing up and actually pursuing that kind of a career someday myself when I was younger, so it was extra special to feel like I could finally see myself reflected in a piece of fiction so much more than I did before although my life has actually taken me in entirely different directions than younger me fancied it might!. Lol SORRY Oversharing, probably, but I can't help that you mentioning possibly buying books in the airport just suddenly brought that memory flooding back to me, forgive me!!! 😅😂😊)

21:43 I am a sucker for books with time travel/time loop element to it and The Seven Year Slip integrated this element so well!! This just hit the emotions right. It made me laugh and it made me cry so hard! 😭 It kind of reminds me of Your Name (a Japanese animated movie by Makoto Shinkai). “New adult” is the transition between YA and adult. The MCs are between 18-25 usually. I can’t read YA anymore because I’m 27 and reading about sixteen year olds is just too weird lol so if you’re struggling with this, I’d recommend new adult books, or like Jesse said do a lot of research. My fave book currently is YA, but the characters read much older and I’m 99% sure the only reason they’re teenagers is because YA sales better so the author just took down their ages by a couple years (six of crows if y’all are interested)

My last [completed ]read (that used my actual eyeballs) was 'The Right Move' by Liz Tomforde, but my most recent last reads that were in fact actually audiobook listens were 'Kingdom Cold' by Brittni Chenelle and the last 2 or 3 books in the 'Eleven Wings' series by that same author.
My current read is 'Sword Catcher' by Cassandra Clare-but my most recent soft/unintentional/[for now] DNFs from before picking that up which I do plan to get back to and finish reading at some point are 'The Immortal' by Gena Showalter, 'To Sleep In A Sea Of Stars' by Christopher Paolini, and the last book in 'The Dark Artifices' trilogy by Cassandra Clare.
My next read will probably be either 'Sanctuary of the Shadow' by Aurora Ascher, 'The Nocturne' by Jordan S. Scott, 'The Foxhole Court' by Nora Sakavic, 'Counterpart' by Ella Pyne, 'The Demon Kiss'[ or something else] by Juliana Haygert, 'Shadow Magic' by James E Wisher, or 'Out On A Limb' &/or 'Next Of Kin' by Hannah Bonam-Young. (Or maybe I'll get impatient and just pick up 'The Seven Year Slip' instead of any of those because I keep seeing it everywhere and it sounds like something I might really enjoy; I dunno, we'll see!. 😏🤭🤭 🤣)
I'm currently in my era of dipping my toes officially into giving the Romance and Erotica genres a try and/or actually picking up booktuber recommendations sometimes instead of just adding them to my ridiculously endless want-to-read-someday list, and picking up completely random books I know nothing about just because of their covers, and/or intentionally checking out books that other people have said are terrible for various reasons and/or picking books up for really obscure reasons like their author once tried to sue Twilight's author for plagiarism when they probably should have meant to try and sue for copyright infringement or something instead at most or just not even sued at all.😂😂😂 But I really want to get back to my accidentally unfinished series reads and physical TBR that have been waiting for me for eons by now, and I really want to try dipping my toes even more into both contemporary crime thrillers as well as like some cozy fantasy / cozy paranormal & or mystery type fiction, or such.
I'm just really trying to stay disciplined and not jump ship onto that at least until I've actually finished what I've currently started-so maybe my next reads will actually completely change from what I've currently listed after I do. 😂
I just got super distracted by watching tv shows instead of reading for a little while, after I started Sword Catcher, so now my mood as far as what I want to read next the most has kinda started to shift again somewhat; I really need to do better at balancing splitting my time between all the things I wanna do a little bit better. Lol Most importantly, I'm trying not to go into books looking for great reads, I'm trying to just pick books up and be along for whatever ride they present to me just for the fun of it more like I used to do when I was younger; and if I happen to pick up simething that is also a really great read in the meantime, that'll just be a happy bonus but not a deliberate or required goal/objective. I don't only want to value literary merits, or such, but also just for pure entertainment/curiosity alone and so on. 😊 🙂

I am so excited to get to Seven Year Slip. I Really want to read it since I enjoyed The Dead Romantics so much. I hope you have fun with Emily Wilde. It was one of my favorite reads of 2023.
Last Read: Yellowface by R.F. Kuang (I'm unsure how to word my feelings for this book. I did like it for the most part though.)
Current Read: The Brilliant Death by Amy Rose Capetta (This is a reread so I can read the sequel next.)
Next Read: The Storm of Life by Amy Rose Cepetta (The sequel to The Brilliant Death)

@jessethereader I want some advice from you or anyone who’s able to help…I’ve been reading The Passage. Now don’t get me wrong I’m enjoying it but I’m not feeling motivated to read it every night cause it’s a huge book, little over 900 pages and the chapters can be super long. I think after I finally finish it, I’m gonna read a short comic book series and then come back to book 2 cause it’s a trilogy. Is this a good idea? Cause worst case scenario book 1 ends on a cliffhanger and I start 2 right away which isn’t really a bad thing but I think the length of book 1 is just intimidating I guess? I don’t read big books like this a lot

That's when you listen to audiobooks or have some ebooks dled. That way you aren't taking up precious bag space on books.

I took my kindle with me to the UK because I was going for 5 months and couldn't have carried that many books. I thought I'd buy books from there.
Then I realised books in UK are wayyyy more expensive than in my country. So I ended up just clicking picture of the books I wanted to buy, so I can buy them once I'm back home 😂
I didn't read on the kindle either. There was just no time 😐

Buying the books there is my plan too, but I'm pretty sure they will be cheaper and it'll have more variety too, but I'm also thinking of getting a kindle so i can read the books I'm gonna buy back home😅
