That Carmilla fight almost made me quit. I'm loving this remake, but damn. I know the bosses in the original SQ were famously criticized for being too easy, but that didn't mean they needed to turn the corner into needlessly sadistic.
Yeah she's brutal! Carmilla was most definitely the hardest part of the leather whip only challenge! You do so little damage with the leather whip that you have to be doing consistent damage and hope she doesn't use the healing move too often since it heals more than you can damage her. That video is here if anyone is interested...(Carmilla fight is at 40:20). ruclips.net/video/OU09bCZPDjs/видео.htmlsi=LVrhM4PZscQlmjr_ Thanks for watching!

I had a great time with this game. The slide also adds an interesting element that allows you to get around faster and avoid damage if you use it correctly, and the map was a nice addition as well as the extra subweapons. There are also some other secrets that weren't in the original that added some replay value. If anyone reading this is interested in downloading this game or the soundtrack then check out the video description for a link. The same guy (WarMachine Studios) also just released his version of Castlevania III called "Castlevania Chronicles III - Dracula's Curse" that follows the same sort of "reimagining" formula. Very polished, one thing should be fixed I can see is the wall candles shouldn't appear on the outdoor areas. They are even floating in empty space on some forest areas.
Yeah you're right. I suppose it doesn't make much sense in some cases. The developer is actually working on polishing up this game and Castlevania Chronicles 3 right now so perhaps this is something he'll address. Thanks for watching!
1:23:00 idk where the extra 50hp came from but this fight is punishing. First 1/2 boss health bar is Trevor literally walking into my whip, jump, he flips, walks into my whip, repeat. Then Sypha and Grant appear and it seems like Trevor's annoying whip attacks randomly hit me.
Check out 46:50 to see where the extra HP can be acquired. Every bit helps! I think one of the most important things about this fight is that once you hit the enemy and it starts flashing, not only is it unable to take damage but it also can't hurt you so that's the time to slide through them so you don't get cornered. Good luck and thanks for watching!
He certainly has that Belmont way of walking. I'm actually not sure but I want to say that the sprite and walking animations were created by the developer of the game and were not taken from an existing game but I could be wrong. Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately the mansions are sealed forever after beating them so any subweapon that might be in there can't be retrieved after the doors are barred. Kind of frustrating but at least it isn't required to beat the game. Thanks for watching!
That made me laugh. It's a fine question. Smokey Bear would be furious since this careless candle placement puts everyone at risk of a dangerous forest fire. Thanks for watching 😅
As far as I know, you didn't miss anything at all. I wasn't sure about what she was saying either. I think the answer to the riddle is an eye (Dracula's eye maybe) but I don't think this lady ever does anything different, regardless of whether you have the eye or not. I don't think I spoke to her in this video but you can see her and her dialogue in my first playthrough here in the town of Aljiba: ruclips.net/video/eYNPoywrq0A/видео.htmlsi=OuaTp-KMlF04fgDP&t=3560 (If the timestamp doesn't work, it's around the 59:20 mark, and then I return with the eye at around the 3:14:30 mark) Thanks for watching!
I think I might be missing something by the time I get to the Trevor fight. I'm at 550 HP, even after getting he HP max UP, and I'm taking 50 damage from hits rather than 15. This fight is a real bitch, but it's a pretty enjoyable wall to bang my head against : )
Wow that's odd. I even sent the developer a message to see if there was anything in the game that causes the damage you take to vary, and he said there wasn't. Perhaps you stumbled across a bug. Are you on the latest version? (1.2 as of this video, but there's supposed to be a newer patch in the works right now) I think there were some issues in previous versions with the HP max up item either not working or not saving as well. For the fight itself, one of the most important things to do is to take advantage of when the enemy is flashing after they get hit. When they're flashing, you can't hurt them but they also can't hurt you so that's the time to slide right on through them so you don't get cornered. Good luck and thanks for watching!
The pendulum jumping is a bit jarring at first but the way Simon locks onto the pendulum can save you at times. I think it's either very similar or maybe even the same mechanics on the pendulums in Castlevania Chronicles 3 as well. As for the fishmen though...those things were one of the major run-killers when I was trying to get a deathless playthrough. I can't tell you how many times I was returning to the first town and got sniped by a fishman, even though I was 100% focused on avoiding it! They were toned down in Chronicles 3 and especially in Masque of Retribution. Thanks for watching!
@@subledger. i remember a lot of people wanting the fishmen to be nerf'd by a lot. since not only it's almost impossible to dodge them but also their knock back is insane when they hit you. as for the pendulum issue i have a feeling that warmachine got rid of it in masque of retribution due to how a lot of players didn't like being stuck on it.
castlevania and rock ambience just does not match, the perfect match its like lament of innocence or wathever other game like order of eclessia and others, yes, there are rocks songs but only for some special bosses, in other words, the ambience needed to be like a classical old times or some time of electro, for me, rock just does not match, salute
@@asdasdasdsassad rock music can fit in a castlevania game as long as it is done properly. for example The Tragic Prince michiru yamane from sotn is a rock music and it fit's perfectly on the clock tower area of the castle. it's a matter of how the instruments syncing well with each other's tones. another example is haunted castle re-visited's bloody tears. the music starts of with a piano and slowly builds up with the beats of the drums and guitars while not overpowering the other tones.

Some of that fight is luck-based since the amount of times she regenerates her health is random but fortunately there's a save point right before. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Hmm...So you have Dracula's Heart and have made it past the Belasco Marsh, and now you're at the ferryman that guides you across the Dead River right? I don't remember having any major issues here but I did run into a minor glitch around 43:50 where after crossing the Dead River it starts you in the church of the next town instead of at the beginning of the town. Are you playing on version 1.2 (the latest version as of now)? Also, what exactly do you mean by getting locked out, and which path were you taking? For example, were you heading to the town of Alba, Brahms Mansion, or Belasco Marsh?
@@ZatohRondohoon3227 I think if you upgraded to version 1.2 in the middle of the game then you should still be able to use your same save file and shouldn't have to start a new game. So is it crashing the game or is it not letting you into the next area?

It certainly has its flaws but, overall, this was hugely impressive and shows what Simon's Quest could've been and still could be. I must admit at first I thought it was just going to be a 16 bit update with fixes to some of CV2's more infamous flaws. But there were so many moments that really blew me away. The AI voices are not great and most of the boss battles seem like repetitive slogs but I love the fact that there ARE bosses and the mansions have been varied so they're actually memorable locations. I love that they kept the day-to-night transition but made the time gradually pass as more bosses were beaten and how the overworld music changed with it. And when Simon steps out of the clockwork cathedral after beating Death and that classic "horrible night to have a curse" appears, I was smiling ear to ear. This game really does so much right. It's just a shame that fans, at home in their spare time, have to do the work that Konami should have been doing all these years. Maybe 16-bit remakes of 30-year-old games are too niche for general audiences, and every once in a while they do come out with a good remaster (like Haunted Castle) but, man I wish game companies were making more games like this and, more specifically, I wish there more new Castlevanias like this.
