everything depends on how long of a hike it will be. and even then, there's no need to have lots of stuff. i hike miles when i hunt, but that's just overall walking, not straight distance travelled either. hills, weaving this way and that, etc, etc. packing as light as possible is also important. no need for survival gear if you aren't far away. although, some people have zero sense of direction, and can get lost even when their vehicle is almost in sight.

Invest some money into good quality warm clothes and you won’t get cold. I’ve been out in 9 degrees with ice on my bow and I was completely warm
