  • Hello guys,
    In this video I will run a WLToys 124017 with a SurpassHobby 540 V3 5.5t and an XRC ET120 Easy Turbo from Exteme Racing, an ESC derived from a HobbyWing Xerun V2.1.
    The lipo I used in these runs is a gens ace 2s 5500ma 100C.
    The test is split in to 3 runs.
    In the first we'll run default settings with no boost/turbo.
    In the second, we'll run with turbo set to max, 32 degrees.
    In the third and last, we'll run boost set at 16 and turbo at 32 degrees.
    Either boost and turbo are parameters that will increase the motor rpm.
    The former, will intervene inside an rpm range during our speed run and the latter, will be activated at full throttle.
    The more the rpm, the less the motor will be efficient, consuming more power. It's important to set these 2 params wisely, depending on the path the car will run.
    GUYS IT'S OFFICIAL
    WLToys updated the electronics on 124017 to solve definitely any cogging problems.
    It will come with a 2845 4300kv and a 19T pinion.

      Hey mate, such a pleasure to hear from you and thanks for answering. Don't know what happened but can't see my comment too. I was just asking, if you have time or will, please watch my video about 124019 reaching 166kmh (103mph) on 4s. It mounts your same motor, (kk 6900 kv) and a hobbywing max 10 sct. I am not sure the surpasshobby you mounted will push that motor to the limit. In my opinion hobbywing is better, even if more expensive a little bit. And of course you need to run on 4s. By the way I like your video, a pretty clean built. Thanks mate.

      Hey mate thanks. This is really one of the best comments I could receive. The channel is small, and I started with no expectations, just wanted to share something I am involved and I like. But something in the last two months changed and I am getting more and more support. So I start believing that people someway like my contents. I do not have lot of time and resources for the channel, but this encourages me to keep going. Thanks to you and all the other subscribers mate.

    I would be interested in seeing a video how to turbo boost. I have have the 1/14 version with this exact same motor/esc. It's really fast so you have to be gentle with the throttle. On the first run still in my driveway I gave to much throttle an it went flipping into pieces. It's a really fun car but I don't drive it a lot because in a split second it could be a pile of parts.

    • @ViCatRC
      @ViCatRC  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching mate, and for your suggestion. As soon as the weather will be a bit better hopefully I will start my videos again, and I believe a video on how turbo and boost have to be set, would be interesting. By the way, it's a bit weird that you have such rough reaction on your car, and i don't think is depending on turbo. Turbo works at full throttle but you have problem at start. A sensored motor is great cause you can almost crawl the car with minimal throttle. So, stupid question: did you plug your sensor cable between the motor and the esc? Those cables are really flimsy, so sometimes you need to ensure they are plugged pretty good. In spite of sensorless motor where you have immediate torque as soon as you pull the trigger, you really should hear the motor twitting slightly and start nice and cool, gradually. Another thing that you need to control is the esc calibration. If esc is not calibrated, it can't recognize pretty well the start and the end of your trigger position. This can cause something like a on/off effect as if at minimal throttle you have maximum power on esc. So check this out either.

      @@ViCatRC Thanks for the reply, I don't have any issues other than my own stupidity. I have a few RC cars and I was aware that it was going to flip before telling my eight year old daughter "hey watch this". I was though blissful unaware of how violently that flip would be. Having put new contact foams on didn't help the cause either. The setup really needs a 1/12 frame I feel. Having so much power in such a short wheel base is fun but challenging at times to control. That being said destroying it sometimes is part of hobby, good thing parts are cheap and easy to get. One negative in that process is the down time.

    Hi cna you send us the files to the 3d printed parts you used? And how do you tune the car so it dorse t spin out when going so fast? I'm struggling with that lol

    • @ViCatRC
      @ViCatRC  2 года назад +1

      Hey mate, thanks for watching again. I still did not decide to relase the stl in public but if I get many requests I will. By the way you can join me at Vicat RC facebook page and push the follow button. Over there I usually release my updates concerning 3d printed parts. About tuning the car is something a bit subjective. Some people they get downforce adapting kind of GT bodies that are very areodynamics. Others like in my case that I almost run the car as it is, you need to balance front and back downforce with some wings. Even the original is good, but at high speed you need to keep the nose down either.

      @@ViCatRC but other than that u didn't mess around with the camber and toe right?

    • @ViCatRC
      @ViCatRC  2 года назад +1

      Yes, for speed runs is better to straighten the camber. Being slightly negative is ok but not like a f1 car. You don't need to turn, so you need max surface on the road. For the toe someone makes it positive on the front, that means if you see the tires from the top they converge. I prefer to stay neutral, straight. The rear you can straighten or leave as they are. The suspensions need to be hardened. Strong on the front to let the car bend during a hard brake but not touch the ground. The back they need not to let the car squat. If they are loosen and you put lot of downforce on the back to keep the car sealed on the floor the car will hit the ground and your risk even to flip. Hope I've been helpful.
