So an approach to get brass tax is take a sheet of paper, make 2 columns. One side is Need and the other is Want/Nice to have. Make that wish list of the shoes. Then write next to it what price you’re willing to pay. Then add all that up and that’s your shoe budget. Now this is a dynamic list and so is the budget, within reason. But what it does is give you a macro sense of how much you’re willing to spend and allows you to justify is that is best use of money. Because even 75-100 here, 200 there even if it is all less than retail is real money you could put somewhere else… Funny how retail with most clothes is a reference price and usually what people don’t pay for the item. But sneakers in last 10-15 has been so hyped by Nike, Etc that they’ve made us think retail is a deal…but it’s not. So take that paper out and do the numbers. Bc then you will feel OK with spending 1000 if that is what you mapped out. Or you reduce and just buy that one or two pairs you really want. Quality over quantity.

If I really want an expensive pair, I always check Marketplace or Ebay for a gently used pair, I mean I don’t mind buying a used pair cause I’m gonna wear them anyways. 🤷♂️
