    Most people don't know that most of them are compulsory soldiers, holding a 4.6kg M1 rifle, doing really hard movements like the silent drill team in the US, as a Taiwanese I'm really proud of them.

    It's really interesting to see how other military power's drill movements differ from that of the United Kingdom. The uniform is really unusual looking too. Mind you, they probably think the same about our red tunics and bearskins. Good insight. :)

    I dont get it, what's so bad about this, why are you guys hating on this? IT is their tradition, just like our guard changing for the tomb of the unknown soldier. They only do this out of respect, and I think we should respect their tradition wether if it is right or wrong. Treat them the way we do for our own traditions, please.

      drill is designed "to get a group of soldiers from point A to point B in a smart and military fashion." so basically it's meant to be efficient so I agree with you their drill is just pointless.

    • @DIC_CEO
      @DIC_CEO 10 лет назад +4

      prototype claws Ceremonial Drill is not defined by normal drill definition and regulations. your point a to point b definition is normal drill. Ceremonious drill is a completely different ball game.

    • @prototypeclaws4185
      @prototypeclaws4185 10 лет назад

      TrueWW2History that may be true, and you are right by saying that. but you've got to agree that this drill is completely pointless when they are meant to be changing the guard.

    • @DIC_CEO
      @DIC_CEO 10 лет назад +2

      prototype claws But also keep in mind that this is a tomb of a well known chinese historical figure and to be so non-chalant about it would be seen as a great disrespect to Chang Kai Shek. You could also argue that there isn't any point to the guards themselves since its a dead guy but its a respect thing. If they were actually guarding something of worth such as the treasury or large military base or something like that, then yes this drill wold be pointless but the whole purpose of this is to pay respect. Plus it makes tourists more interested. Tourists don't come from around the world to see two guys switch place in like 5 secs. That would be hella boring.

    i never said the 2nd Sino-Japanese war ended in 1941.
    The US was fighting 2 fronts against Germany + Italy in Europe and Japan in Pacific. They still won. Its not a matter of how many fronts you fight, but how many people you can distribute to those fronts.

  • @Brittaniramblings

    US was sided with a good number of allies, and Italy was pretty much defeated by the time they got into the mix. The US would have had a long, hard war with Japan if they hadn't dropped the two a-bombs. So, in reality, the US really only had to worry a little bit about Germany.

      This is one of the Chinese Nationalist Style duck step which use to show the respect for some great people at the Republic of China, Taiwan.
      at early 1930s, Chinese Nationalist invited Germany military consultant to china, like Hans von Seeckt, training the
      National Revolutionary Army by German manual. Since than German style duck step start to use in Nationalist Military force, and that is one of version on this film.

    US and Japan didn't officially enter war until 1941 and there wasn't any major battles until 1943.
    You know it wasn't the US or UK that beat Germany, but the USSR. The USSR was storming Berlin while the Allied troops was stuck west of the Rhine River. The Nazi-Soviet example is plausible to Sino-Japan because, China had more men than Japan like the USSR had more men than the Nazis. The German war machines were overwhelmed and over-runned by 6 million Soviet conscripts.

      it originates from the fact during the change they would check their guns in front of each other to make sure everything is in order, it kind of evolved from there, if you watch the american tomb of the unknown soldier they do it in a much more practical way

    "because America stopped giving Japan vital supplies like rubber and oil"
    America and Japan were in the middle of a war at the time. And your USSR example is faulty anyways because the Germans were caught fighting at two fronts.

  • @MastaKadaj
    @MastaKadaj 11 лет назад

    The second sino-Japanese war didn't end in 1941, it just morphed into WW2 for the Japanese, so you're still wrong.
    I didn't say it was the US or UK that beat them, but they certainly contributed. Again you're ignoring the fact that the Germans were warring on two fronts. So what have we arrived at? The entire USSR fought maybe half of the German army and beat them. Gee, shocking.

    Actually, the Germans failed technologically in a number of areas, especially war production. Their tanks were too expensive to build and thus couldn't compete in numbers with the American Sherman and the Soviet T-34. Their vaunted V-2 was years ahead of other country's rocketry, but had little strategic value and prevented the production of tens of thousands of fighter and bomber aircraft.
