    The stone masonry of the wall is stunning, the way the large irregular stones merge with the huge rectangular stones is amazing. There doesn't appear to be any mortar used either!

    The Japanese has perfected the fine art of mixing in the new with the old. It amazes me the contrast of the modern skyline with the traditional architecture of Japan.

    I have seen the film "Emperor" about a US general went to see the emperor just a few weeks after Japan's surrender on order of Gen Mc Arthur. The Emperor's guards which had been allowed to use their guns stopped him and his men from entering the palace. He asked the officer he wanted to see him. Then the officer went to phone then he said yes but as soon as he and his men about to enter, the officer stopped them and pointed to him "Only you!" He went alone with the officer into the palace leaving his men outside.
    It was only the Lord chamberlain, not the emperor the American general saw inside the palace. It was finally arranged for the Emperor to visit Mc Arthur for talks which could change Japan's constitutions.
    Good film this.

    After most of the emperors were overthrown in the past, Japanese monarch is last one in the world with a title "Emperor".
    Last remaining monarchs are only Kings, Queen, Princes, even a Grand Duke and a Pope (a elected monarch according to history).

    There were no real threat to Imperial Family in Japan, people of Japan honour their Emperor so much that there is no need armed guards to protect him and his family, if you read Japanese history, the Imperial Guards ceased to be effective armed soldiers and become more customary gurds since Heian era, and that was more than 1000 years ago, even in turbulence era like Sengoku jidai or civil war era in 1500 doesn`t shake imperial palace peacefull life

      ***** Doesn't look like the clothes fit the men very well.

    • @EggiTheShadow
      @EggiTheShadow 9 лет назад

      Maybe its so then, in a combat situation they can rip a piece of fabric off their pants if they really needed to....that or they had a really bad outfitter or they're trying to come across as more....casual? Because if you consider the way they changed the guard, it was far from flashy

    • @Sergei_Ivanovich_Mosin
      @Sergei_Ivanovich_Mosin 9 лет назад +3

      EggiTheShadow They're guards, they're not really expected to get into a combat situation, they're mostly ceremonial (I mean if they're like most other nations guards they probably are military but they're not in combat positions at the moment)

    • @EggiTheShadow
      @EggiTheShadow 9 лет назад

      ***** Yeah, im aware of that, although they are royal guards, they should be able to protect the castle at a moments notice, if they were purely ceremonial what's the point of having them there in the first place
